| I have had tons of mechanical issues with this vehicle and replaced 2 alternators within a couple months of each other, one was replaced about 3 weeks ago. i was driving in a school zone to drop my daughter off and the car just shut down. i have had to replace the starter, battery, alternators (2), and items with the tires and suspension. this car makes loud clinking noises and coming to a stop you can hear a loud knock sound. chrysler needs to be required to fix vehicles instead of saying they can't find anything wrong with them. *tr | |||

| The windshield wipers and electrical systems failed during a mild rain. we got the vehicle to a chrysler dealer and contracted for them to put it on the lift. we've learned that the main wiring harnesses on many 2004 pacificas - such as ours - have collected water for years due to their design on the 2004 pacifica, and have completely corroded. this substantially compromised our safety, as we exited the road having lost windshield wipers, all electrical, etc., we attempted to use the horn which also was no longer working. *tr | |||

| This vehicle has suffered through a wide variety of problems as outlined from online complaint boards.today has started sudden accelation while stopped at traffic lights almost taking me into traffic your investigation on these are closed but i never had satisfaction speaking to chrysler officails and was informed by my dealer a couple of years ago that the vehicle was made by the ;old; company and the new company does not honor problems.what is disturbing is that a close inspection by me has revealed that the wiring harness going to the control computer was routed under the drivers side flexible motor mount and the harness has been damaged by the mount compressing this harness right on top of a bolt on the frame causing fraying of several control wires .the poor design has indeed created most of the problems with the vehicle and could cause wrecks and perhaps even deaths.chrysler has informed me they do not accept suggestions from the public but for the safety of the citizens still driving these vehicles,i see a lot on the road, please contact them as to this problem which while not covered under their warranty should be as this flaw only shows up with milage.the wiring harness has not been priced by me yet but if past experience is the guide chrysler parts are significantly higher than competitors,even if the last 'genuine' part had product of south korea right on the box.the problem is poor design | |||

| My husband was driving and suddenly the car started smoking we pulled over, the fire fighters were called. they had to break the dashboard in order to stop the fire. they spray the car with water inside and out. car was total. the fire fighters thought that it was possibly the wire that stared the fire. radio and light on dashboard did not work in one point, it started working again by itself. | |||

| Dash heater control panel--lamps for several functions have ceased working--blower fan, air conditioning, circulation/recirculation, front window defrost and rear window defrost making adjustments or changes at night impossible. there is no way to change bulbs according to the manufacturer service/shop manual. additionally, the function status (led) panel fades out leaving no information for what function is working, or what the status is, thus making changes impossible at anytime. inability to control environment--specifically the functions concerning visibility make the vehicle a hazard to drive when the controls are inoperative or impossible to use. | |||

| Headlamps - the headlamps had to be replaced due to light beams not coming through the clear plastic cover. the cover became cloudy and visibility was limited which caused safety concerns. the chrysler dealership tried to clean but was not successful. tire sensors - a year ago, we had an issue with the message center not responding to the tires. the chrysler dealership installed 1 tire sensor and several months later a new message center panel had to be replaced. a year later, we are replacing the other three sensors. we are told by the chrysler dealership that the batteries only last several years. they claim that these sensors are goverment regulated. why are we putting parts into american made cars that have to be replaced every several years that cost $100 for each sensor plus labor. either chrysler needs to produce a better sensor that lasts longer or the government should provide rebates since this is regulatory. these car issues should be considered a safety issue and reviewed for potential liabilities that can cause harm to the driver. | |||

| I bought my 2004 crys. pacifica 2 months ago from a carlot. i test drove it and it was driving really good. i paid for it and pulled off the lot and it started trying to stall on my everytime i pushed the gas it would do it then stop for about a min then start again. it would jerk as it was trying to stall i finally made it home and called the carlot and they said to take it to their car shop so on my way there i stopped at autozone and hooked it up to their computer to see what it was that was messing up. the computer said it was the crank sensor. so we took it to the shop and they changed the crank sensor and the motor light went off and it stopped doing it. they had it for a week and that next friday when i got it back i drove it to pay a couple bills and it started it again it did it about 12 times untill it finally stalled and would start back up but stall right away untill it would not even start again. i left it in that spot and my husband come and picked me and my 3 kids up and the next day the shop said to bring it back to them and my husband went to pick it upp and take it to the shop and it started right up and drove home no problem but the check engine light was still on then drove it to the shop and it done it 2 more times. the shop had it for another week and changed the crank sensor agian and found out the motor mount was broke to and fixed that. i got the car back again and had it for 2 days and it started doing it again. took it to another shop and the shop said that it could be all the wiring harness and said it would cost me 3,000!!!!!!!! to fix i can not afford that so here i am only 2 months from buying a 10,000 dollar car that i can not drive this is terrible and something needs to be done about this happening to the same kind of cars alllll the time i am a mother of 3 and going to school and working i need my car | |||

| My 2004 chrysler pacifica had a fire in the rear side wall on the driver's side. the car was parked and unoccupied when this happened. i contacted chrysler and an investigator was sent. the investigator told me the hottest part or starting point for the fire seems to be in or around the rear of the motor for the rear wiper blades which was inside the side wall of the car. i received a form letter from chrysler stating the report was inconclusive and they have no liability. i do not agree with their report and have requested a copy of their investigator's report which they have refused to send. the is no way this fire and damaged caused by this fire was anything other than a defect or problem with either wiring or a motor inside the side wall of the car. *tr | |||

| Car will not start on first try on a normal basis. have changed battery and starter. car also stalls. when it does start after about 30 tries or 30 min i have to put my foot on the gas pedal to keep it started. i have gone to many sites on line by typing in starting and stalling problems on line. there are many people having this problem and no one seems to know what the problem is. people along with myself are spending a great deal of money to try to fix this problem. chrysler has to know what this problem is with all these cars having the same problems but they don't seem to care about our problems and the money that we are loosing every month. i fear that i am going to be stranded with my children because my car won't start or stalls. i just want to know what is wrong with this car. i know if they tell everyone what is wrong with this car they will have to fix the thousands of peoples cars that are in need of repair and that big company does not want to do that for the little people of the country who trusted them. they have received billions of dollars in tax payer money and they should come clean and fix these cars or at least tell us what is wrong so that we can fix them for good. please help all of us. i am a single mother and can not afford to try so many different things that are not the problem. i ask again. please help us. *tr | |||

| On dec 19, 2008 my 2004 pacifica started stalling when driving home from work, it did this approximately (20) times in rush hour traffic. i would put it in neutral and some times it would start up immediately and sometimes it would delay by several minutes. i drove the car to my mechanics; which was closed, and left it there, the next day it would not act up for him and he ran a diagnostic that showed him nothing. although he did find a recall on the pcm needing reprogrammed for stalling issues. we then took it to shuman chrysler in walled lake, mi. and dropped it off. they replaced the solenoid and confirmed that the reprogramming was done prior to this problem. cost was $237.50. on christmas eve on a busy road the car stalled out again, and took several attempts before it kept running. here we were sitting in a dead car, on one of the most widely known evenings with drunks on the road. we proceeded to our destination and at the end of the evening we had someone follow us home with my elderly mother in their car. we took it back to the dealership on the 26th and they replaced the ground to the transmission case from the battery. no charge this time. on the 27th the car stalled again 3 times on us, we got to our destination and disconnected the battery to reboot the computer and it worked until dec 30th, when the dealership picked it up from the location where it would not start, right before the tow truck started loading it; it started and quit again. it has been at the dealership ever since. today january 7, 2009 the dealership called and will be ordering a new pcm, and a power distribution module. it was explained to me that the module is responsible for not starting and the pcm is responsible for the stalling or the shorting out. the cost will be $1200. i will call them tomorrow and ask for the parts to be saved. i am not done with this. countless reports have been tracked and the reprogramming did not fix the chrysler problem, and neither will they. *tr | |||

| This vehicle has had the siphoning hoses to the gas tank replaced three times. which all three failed all three times. the fuel pump has been changed. the whole fuel tank has been replaced. the gas gauge fluctuates from half tank to empty. the check engine light comes on every week. after resetting by the serviceman it comes back on with in a week. all of these safety defects have been repaired however it remains doing all of the above leaving this vehicle to be very unsafe. please note this so that any others may have this to refer to. *tr | |||

| I recently purchased a 2004 chrysler pacifica. in the past 3 months, most of the electrical system has started malfunctioning. the air vents have stuck where air will only blow through the dash vents keeping the defrost vents from working which makes it unusable to drive in rain or cold weather. the dash displays and lights have stopped working totally. the fuel gauge will suddenly swing from the correct position to either full or empty, then go back to normal after a couple of minutes. the headlights work intermittently and go off with no notice. we are currently unable to drive the vehicle at night, during rain and whenever the temperature gets below about 50 degrees. it has also started intermittently shutting off during driving at any speed. this vehicle is now totally unsafe. i have taken it to 5 different dealers to be looked at. one replaced a computer module, which did nothing. another replaced an electronic module for the headlights, which again did nothing. two couldn't figure it out after each having the vehicle at least 1 week each. the fifth said that the entire electrical system (wiring harnesses, computers and modules) would have to be replaced at a cost of over $4000! he stated that the electronics on the early model pacificas is known to start shorting out by the dealers and that they piece meal it together by replacing part after part until most or all of it is replaced. from the odi site i see that this seems to be a continuing wide spread problem with the early pacificas and wonder why chrysler can continue to ignore this problem. paying quite a bit of money for a vehicle and being unable to use it because you don't want someone to get hurt or killed seems like a big enough issue that chrysler would be ordered to recall and fix this issue. i would trade the car in but no dealer will touch it now. one offered me $500 for the same vehicle he sold me a year ago for $14,000. *tr | |||

| My car has completely shut off on me on 4 different occasions. the first time the dealership said it was a fuel line problem and cleaned the fuel line system. the second time the problem happened, leaving me stranded on the side of the road again, the dealership changed a sensor. the 3rd time, same scenario, the dealership told me that they 2nd occasion the computer gave them a fault, but the first time it didn't so they fixed what they thought the problem could be. on the 3rd occasion, they told me that when the 2nd event happened it gave them a fault that could have meant that one of two sensors had gone bad. they said that if the car was under warranty they would have just replaced both sensors. since the car was out of warranty, they just replaced the one that usually goes bad. so on my 3rd trip to the dealership, they replaced the second sensor and of course i had to pay for the labor again. the parts themselves cost $20 each and if asked the first time if i wanted to replace both sensors like they would for a warranty repair, i would certainly had agreed. my 4th event happened 4 weeks ago. my car is still at dealership i type this. they say they have no idea what is wrong with the car, but that they can tear the car apart and check out the wiring and if that's the problem, it will cost $6000 to fix. just to diagnosis the problem i have to pay a minimum of $240 which they tell me may not diagnosis the problem at all. i feel that this vehicle is a huge safety hazard. it only has 30,000 miles on it and has given me nothing but trouble since i purchased it as the second owner on february 28, 2007. the car just shuts off while driving each time leaving me stranded with my 2 young children where ever we are. each time i have had to wait for a tow truck to arrive to take us to safety. i hope that others have this same complaint and that chrysler will do something to make this right. *tr | |||

| Incident occurred four times over last two days. driving on urban divided highway at approximately 55 mph at steady speed on a flat, relatively straight section of highway, fuel gauge began fluctuating. fluctuations of the needle swung from the current fuel state of just over indicated half tank of fuel to the completely empty indication. low fuel warning light illuminated when needle fell below the critical point for illumination. other swings of the needle ranged from current state to anything below the current state and returned to proper indication. no fuel was lost. no leaks. n each incident, after approximately three minutes of erroneous readings, the fuel gauge returned to normal indications. *ak | |||

| This car has had an on-going issue of stalling, lights turning off/going out, and automatic seat/mirror/radio position changes. 31 dec 05 at approximately 1515, after driving 4+/- miles, i turned into a driveway, backed into a turnaround, pulled forward and backed up to a garage. i put the car in park, set the parking brake, turned the key to off and removed the key. the engine was still running with the key out of the ignition. i placed the key back into the ignition, turned it to run, turned it to off. this time the engine quit, however, the dash remained lighted. i turned the key to start, but the starter would not engage. i turned the key to off and removed the key. all dash lights remained on. the car was towed to martin chevrolet, jeep, chrysler for repairs. this is the 8th trip for this issue. in all of the previous issues, since there was no code set in the computer, the dealer concluded there to be nothing wrong with the vehicle. in this instance, the dealer was able to see the defect, however, there still was no code in the computer. *jb | |||

| I purchased the car from carmax 08/03, with 500 miles on it. at the end of 09/04, with 2200 miles, i began to have problems with the fuel light. i took it in for service for the fuel light on 10/6, 10/11, 12/18, and 12/27/04. each time service said it was due to a gas cap not being tightend, and or gas was being topped off. they didn't tell me they replaced a c34 fuel line clip on 12/18, and on 12/27 they replaced the egr system. i continued to have the same problems 1/11 and 1/17/05. on 1/17/05 they replaced a detector for general evap system failure/replace nvld pump. 1/25/05, service again for the headlamps not working, they found no problem. i was not told they did a recall on 10/06/04 on the auto transmission powertrain controle module. i found out, via the internet there was a recall on the headlamps, and they could go out anytime. i received another recall in the mail on the seat control module and drivers door handle, so i took the car in for both recalls 03/31/05. i got home that evening, and now i can't get into the car through the driver's side! this whole car is a lemon and should be recalled! *ak | |||

| 2004 chrysler pacifica - purchased river oaks chrysler houston:1) i have had on-going minor problems with this vechicle since i purchased it. these problems have required for me to take the car in to the river oaks chrysler service department on a regular basis during the past year (lemon?). 2) yesterday october 18, i experienced one of the worst problems with this car. i was leaving my neighborhood and was at a stop sign. i started to make a left turn when i heard a loud noise as if metal was breaking and cracking. the car started to shake violently. i had to grab onto the steering wheel very hard to control it. i had trouble steering it as the wheels did not seem to want to move. i was able to pull it to the side and get assistance (i feel fortunate that it did not happen on the hgway, as the consequences would probably not have been good). the car has 20,000 miles. i do not travel far as i am a stay home mom and most of my driving is doing errands and taking my kids to school. the car was towed to river oaks, chrysler in houston where the car is sitting in their service department. the latest i heard was that the axle broke. my concern is that this is a 1 year old car and it had a major failure such as this one. so many things have gone wrong with this vechicle that i find it unreliable and unsafe and i hate for something like this to happen to someone else. thank you for your attention to this matter. leesbeth silva. *ak | |||

| My pacifica has had power memory seats repaired 5 times. my air compressor repaired x2. a dampener placed to try and minimize the noise from the a/c. the dash electronic module replaced x1. the wheel plastic covering just came off while driving. my tire pressure sensors have had to be reset x2. the exhaust made a rattling noise that had to be repaired. the right front bumper had to be tighten as excessive wind noise was heard by service dealer. it still makes an audible clicking, knocking type noise on acceleration that they claim to be unable to duplicate. it has a loud pop on sharp right turns. and the a/c still cycle abrubtly and loudly approx every 30-45 seconds. i have had the car since aug 2003 and chrysler refuses to accept responsiblity and allow me another vehicle without obtaining a lawyer. i clearly exceeds the minimum criteria for the lemon law. this vehicle has been a huge inconvenience to my family and i. chrysler states there is nothing to be repaired on my vehicle and will not help me in any way. i love the vehicle when it is problem free wich is rare and i just want them to step up to the plate and stop giving me the run around. it has been repaired way to many times already.*ak | |||
