In a november 8, 2006 letter, daimlerchrysler corporation (dcc) submitted a defect information report to nhtsa concerning two separate defect conditions that could result in engine stall while driving in model year (my) 2005-2006 chrysler pacifica vehicles (nhtsa recall no. 06v-432).my 2005 vehicles built in august and september of 2004 are being recalled to correct a defect in the secondary fuel pump modules, which may have an improper press fitting on the inlet that can become dislodged and shut-off fuel flow.all my 2005-2006 vehicles built between july 8, 2004 and november 11, 2005 are being recalled to correct a powertrain control module (pcm) software issue with the evaporative emissions system which can also cause stalling.for both conditions, engine stall incidents tend to occur during left turns. there were 17,375 vehicles built during august and september 2004 that were affected by both the fuel pump module and pcm software conditions.there were 30 voqs submitted to odi, 58 consumer complaints to dcc and 829 field reports relating to vehicles produced during this period.while these are mostly related to the fuel pump condition, some may have been caused by the software fault.the resulting stall while driving failure rate for this period is 5,278 incidents per 100,000 vehicles.there were two crashes alleged to have resulted from these incidents.there were 1,021 warranty claims for fuel pump module replacement that appear related to engine stall (5.9% claim rate). the population for the remaining vehicles included in 06v-432 (i.e., those only affected by the software condition) is 114,523.there were 97 voqs, 124 consumer complaints to dcc and 454 dcc field reports relating to these vehicles.the resulting stall while driving failure rate is 589 per 100,000 vehicles.there were seven crashes alleged to have resulted from these incidents.there were 3,211 warranty claims for pcm reflash that appear related to engine stall in the total population of 131,898 vehicles (2.4% claim rate). all calculations are based on unique vins (multiple/repeat failures not included in these calculations) with no duplication across categories.dcc's recall will reprogram the pcm software and replace the fuel pump modules in all affected vehicles.this engineering analysis has been closed.

While turning into the bank parking lot at 10mph the car just stalled. i was unable to brake or steer out the way. when gas gauge reads empty i am unable to fill the tank with gas as it begins to spill back out. gas gauge reads 1/2 full when it is really empty? miles to empty sensor incorrect therefore i have no idea when i need gas. driver side exterior headlamp seems dimmer than the other lamp. after repairing the entire front end(suspension) still sounds like the front end is going to fall apart when driving on ohio roads. felt it was necessary to document as i do not feel safe in this car. *tr

This is an old story. 2005 chlysler pasifica. i adjusted (move forward) accel and brake pedal position by electric position adjustment system. then i went to a highway (i94, mi), my car did not speed at all. very slow. so, i could not follow the flow of other vehicle, i was almost be crashed. i immediately quit from the highway and checked the pedals. the reason of the issue was poor stroke of the pedals. in case of pasifica, when we move the pedals forward more than middle position, moving range of the accel pedal was reduced less than half because the pedal hit on the floor. also, this problem causes auto cruise system problem. because the pedal can not move more than half of its range, the system can not pull the pedal correctly. then the vacuum hose drops out from the line. my vehicle suddenly slow down when the problem occured. i went to chlysler service center and they reconnect the vacuum hose again. i am sure this is a design error and should be improved immediately. maybe recall.

Very loud popping/clunk sound from front half of vehicle. car in reverse backing out of garage, wheels turned to straighten out and then shifting into drive, car makes a loud pop when making first turn. brought to dealer, replaced axles, still popping. returned to repair, couldn't find problem. brought in again and replaced axles again saying they were sure it was a bad batch previously. still popping loud. car has to be cold, can't duplicate for dealer. i fear something is breaking and will cause an accident.

Problem #1: abs light comes on. when brake is pushed down, grinding noise starts, and brake does not slow car down properly. occurs daily, multiple times. came within inches of crashing into people, property, multiple times. mechanic says it's wheel speed sensor & expensive to fix. we do not have the money. problem #2: gas pedal sticks. when changing car from park to drive, gas pedal will not go down. you have to press on gas hard, thus sending the car rapidly forward or backwards, just to get it to go. happens daily, every time i change it from park to drive. problem #3: power steering locks up while making a turn. while making a left hand turn at an intersection, power steering locked up and could not turn the car, when i hit brakes to stop, they did not work properly either, almost sending my children & myself over an embankment. this has happened 4 times in last 3 months. car has been looked at 3 times, with a diagnostic ran on it each time. response is that car is unsafe to drive, park it and never get behind the wheel again, is what i have heard from all 3 mechanics. would love to park it & save my family from harm, but it's necessary to have a car where i live, and we have no extra money to buy a new car, so there's no options. cost to repair is already at over $800.

I purchased my car in 2008 and the dealer (sheehy ford) won't even take it back. the engine light stays on and it won't pass inspection. i had to replace the obd connector and it still wouldn't pass inspection. took it back to the inspection station and it failed because of the oxygen sensor, replaced that and took it back for the 3rd time and it failed again because the machine read: monitors not ready. i'm starting to think that the power train and the engine are faulty on my vehicle. sheehy knew they sold me a lemon, i've tried to have them resolve this issue numerous times and nothing. i want them to either fix the problem or give me another car. i reported them to the bbb as well and they never responded to bbb on my complaint. that looks so suspect in my eyes.

First noticed gas gage suddenly dropped from 3/4 tank to empty, low fuel warning and check engine light came on. fuel gage would again rise up to full then drop to empty. called dealer who asked for my vin number and told me my car was not subject to recall. gas gage is no longer functioning at all & i have no idea how much gas i have in my tank - i'm unable at this point to afford the repair. new problem has arisen, yesterday and today my car has stalled, causing me to engage park and restart my engine. first time i was going up a small hill and this morning i was maneuvering around a round about. seems very similar to other reports on this particular model and those who have registered a complaint. *tr

I own a 2005 chrysler pacifica which was manufactured, according to my dealership on june 16, 2005. i had brought the car into the dealership 11/06 because of a seat belt problem and when i was there they told me there was a recall and that they were going to take care of it. recall f-44. i had not had any problems with the fuel pump prior to that. this week my car stalled twice. once when turning left, once when turning right. car was able to start up again. i brought it to the dealership (chrysler jeep of white plains at 70 westchester ave., white plains, ny 10601 phone: 914-946-3544). they told me i needed 2 new fuel pumps and it would cost $1210 and it was not under warranty and there was no recall notice. i did my research and found the f-44 recall online which states a fuel pump problem. i have spent the last 2 days talking to the dealership (which has my car) and daimler-chrysler regarding the problem. the headquarters first told me my pump problem was part of the recall and that the dealership had to replace the pumps free of charge. but when the dealership talked to them they told hq that they had been directed to change the fuel pumps only on certain 2005 pacificas. only on ones manufactured within a certain date. they said on my 2005 pacifica they only had to reprogram the pcm. i, as a consumer, see it that one recall was made and it was made because of a fuel pump problem which would cause a car to stall. i am having those problems. the dealership is telling me that they were actually 2 recalls - one for the fuel pump and one to reprogram. i do not see it that way - there was only 1 recall and it was for the problems i am having. they are making me pay $1210+ for a problem that was the reason for the recall in the first place !!!!! *tr

The 2005 chrysler pacifica was burning oil at 1 quart per 1000 miles. the dealership took the engine apart and replaced the valve seals. this helped and slowed the oil consumption,, but did not fix it. now the car was still burning 1 quart 1000 miles, which chrysler claimed was perfectly normal , according to their policy. the manager at the dealership stated that this was not a problem that pacifica's had and seemsed to be unique to this car ,and a few others. chryslerwas still refusing to fix the problem. if allowed the oil to burn at 1quart. per 1000 miles, then at 3000 miles oil change the vehicle will be 3 quarts low, leaving only 2.5 quarts. of oil inthe car. this was 2 quarts. below the minimum level for safe driving according to the chrysler pacifica owner's manual. *ak

Today i took my 2005 chrysler pacifica into the shop for new tires, i was told they could not do an alignment because the tie rods looked bad and to take it to the dealer, i did. i then found out from my local dealer that unfortunately that is all they see is chrysler pacificas...my car has less than 45k miles and i have been told that the entire front end suspension is worthless and right now i have bad gear boxes, a broken engine mount, and can count on having front axel problems as well. the dealer also had a 2004 brought in today and that car and mine were raised up and the repair men showed me and everyone else around the identical problems on both cars. *tr

We bought a 05 chrysler pacifica in july of 05. we have had the car back to the dealership for numerous problems. 1. replacement of a rear tire because of lots of cracks in the sidewall. 2. vibration in the front left above the left wheel, we were told it was a loose computer and it was fixed. 3. left rear rotor began wearing a significant groove, dealership machined both rear rotors. 4. accelerator began sticking especially after cruise control was used. this has occurred twice and both times the stated that the throttle body needed to be cleaned. problem has since re-occurred. 5. the dash cap had to be replaced because of a hump in the right side near the defrost vent and because of a sag in the center part of the dash, dealer replaced the dash cap. left rear passenger door jam lacks sufficient paint, dealership noted it and stated that it was not a necessity to fix. 6. in the tailgate section when you raise the liftgate the trim molding was sagging, dealership replaced it. 7. carpet behind the rear seat was loose, dealership repaired that. 8. leaking red fluid from the front right passenger side. 9. from about 8,000 miles there has been a clicking popping noise from the front wheels, it started when you turned the car from either directions and progressed to clicking and popping anytime all the time. the dealership has tried to fix it numerous times by replacing axles hub bearings, hub assemblies, gaskets none of which has worked. after the 8th attempt to have it fixed we have quit driving it because we feel it is a safety issue. we are currently pursuing a lemon law in oh. *nm

During the first week of june, 2006 i noticed a few things that seemed to all begin at the same time. my pacifica would not start right away when i first attempted to start it after it had been sitting over night, it would hesitate when i took off from a stop if i had been on a downhill incline and the gas gauge would drop to empty as soon as the tank was down to five-eighths full. the problem went away as soon as i filled the tank, but the next week it happened again when the tank got down to five-eighths. i called the dealer to make an appointment to have it looked at and the earliest they could take it was june 21st. the problem got much worse by the time the 21st came around. every time i came to a stop the engine would stall. it would start back up if the car was put in drive, but if it was on a downhill incline it would not restart. i took the car to the dealer on june 21st and was told it needed a fuel pump. they called me later that day and said the part was back ordered, but they should have it in a day or two. well, today is july 19th and my car is still at the dealer waiting for a part. evidently the pacificas have a primary fuel pump and a jet pump. so many of the cars have had this problem (there are hundreds of complaints listed on edmunds.com forum) that evidently they can't keep up with the demand for these pumps. i filed a complaint with the chrysler customer assistance center on july 11th. i don't know if it has done any good, but they do call the dealer each time i call them while they have me on the phone. i am trying to be patient because i love this car, but this is getting ridiculous. it is also having a new power seat memory module installed because both power seats stopped working and it had a new transfer case installed because of a clicking/clunking noise in the front end during turns. *nm
