There is a very strong fuel smell that is seeping into the passenger compartment of the car. it seems to appear around 40 to 50 mph and is very strong in the last week. at 125,000 mi the abs sensors turns on and off constantly. when you first press the brakes it does not grab the rotors and continues to not stop until the abs light comes on and the brakes perform normal. this is very scary because the car almost went thru several intersections without stopping. the fuel indicator drops to almost empty when it falls below half a tank for about 6 months. *tr

Abs warning light keeps coming on intermittently. i have had it worked on and reset but it keeps coming on. the mechanic says the diagnostic code doesn't make sense. it is becoming costly to keep having it checked. there should be a recall as there are many pacifica's that have the same problem. *tr

I was pulling into a left hand parking spot when the vehicle stalled/completely shut off. dashboard lights were still on. i was able to coast backwards down a slope and back into another open parking spot. i had no power steering, and brakes were very hard to depress. i looked up the problem on the internet and looked up open recalls. i found a recall similar to what happened, but when i called both daimler-chrysler and a local chrysler dealership and gave the last 8 characters of my vin, they informed me there were no open recalls for my vehicle. from what i researched, this might happen several times and i am quite concerned with my safety. *tr

I was traveling with my children down a state highway when i noticed that my miles to next service light was saying my next service was due in 4555 miles. how odd, i thought, but didn't have time to ponder it further as i was going around at curve at 45 miles per hour with cars both behind me and oncoming, when i realized that my steering had inexplicably given out. i attempted to brake, only to realize that my brakes, too, had malfunctioned and weren't working. i threw on my flashers and did everything in my power to get that car safely to a halt at the side of road. it was only due to my efforts that my children and i were able to safely evacuate the vehicle before more dire consequences occurred, because the chrysler pacifica was completely dead. thankfully, a kind passerby helped me push the car off the road before someone hit it, and i called aaa for a tow. i still don't know what caused this potentially lethal malfunction, but i had adequate fuel in the car and had the oil changed less than two weeks prior so it wasn't simple owner neglect. no, it was a chrysler malfunction that could have caused my children and i our lives today. *tr

Problem #1: abs light comes on. when brake is pushed down, grinding noise starts, and brake does not slow car down properly. occurs daily, multiple times. came within inches of crashing into people, property, multiple times. mechanic says it's wheel speed sensor & expensive to fix. we do not have the money. problem #2: gas pedal sticks. when changing car from park to drive, gas pedal will not go down. you have to press on gas hard, thus sending the car rapidly forward or backwards, just to get it to go. happens daily, every time i change it from park to drive. problem #3: power steering locks up while making a turn. while making a left hand turn at an intersection, power steering locked up and could not turn the car, when i hit brakes to stop, they did not work properly either, almost sending my children & myself over an embankment. this has happened 4 times in last 3 months. car has been looked at 3 times, with a diagnostic ran on it each time. response is that car is unsafe to drive, park it and never get behind the wheel again, is what i have heard from all 3 mechanics. would love to park it & save my family from harm, but it's necessary to have a car where i live, and we have no extra money to buy a new car, so there's no options. cost to repair is already at over $800.

Had brakes serviced 11/2/07. abs light came on the very same day. tech said it was just a sensor failure, but car was safe to drive. on dec. 22, light came on again and went off. on dec. 23, light came on and went off. on dec. 24, light came on and i experienced a grinding when i depressed the brakes. sent it to dealer but they couldn't find anything. picked it up on dec. 26. picked it up and had to put it back in dec. 27 for the same problem. they sent to local chrysler dealer who says i need a new abs module. i've done research that tells me that purchasing a new abs module will not fix this problem. *cn

I have a 2005 chrysler pacifica. abs light keeps coming on. dealer has repaired it twice. problem keeps re occurring...

My abs light comes on and off i have replaced my wheels rotors and pads assuming that it was my brakes that did not solve the problem and seems like my brakes worked fine but @times i would get like a scrubbing noise seem to be coming from the front wheels well brakes are great. and was told to take my car to a chrysler dealership because the machine they had would not diagnose the code, well after that i new i would be into spending some money when iy came to the dealership,i think this can be a dangerous situation if ever it came tto a stop and would nt be able to .i think there should be a recall on the abs wheel sensors aand the module control will never purchase another chrysler in this lifetime very un satisfied consumer this is a serious concern especially some one who hhas children they are @risk this problem needs to be rectified before as soon as possible someone could end up in a serious accident and i have seen enough of the same problems resulting in the purchase of the chrysler pacifica and problems such as this deters me away from purchasing american vehicles such as chrysler

Within about 3 months of purchasing my 2005 chrysler pacifica my abs light started coming on. now it comes on and stays on. after inquiring about the problem from several shops i have been told it is a very costly fix ranging from 1000-2000 dollars. i am afraid that this problem could result in brake failure at some point and cause a wreck. chrysler needs to recall this part and fix the many who are complaining about it. *tr

Making a left hand turn, i lost braking power momentarily. after that, the abs light came on, but went off after the car was turned off. it comes on and off now intermittently and i on occasion lose braking ability. the abs light does not seem to come on in correspondence with the braking issue however. i am told that this is due to faulty abs sensors which chrysler refuses to acknowledge. *tr

I purchased a used 2005 chrysler pacifica with 68000 miles on it. a week later the abs light came on. i was told it was the sensor but it was ok to drive. my brakes do not brake well and lock up on me. i got the pads replaced and rotors smoothed, but i am still having the sensor problem. while looking on websites, i noticed that many people have the same problem. what can be done to force chrysler to recall this sensor? *tr

At approximately 48,000 miles the abs light came on. it eventually went off but then the brakes failed. the pedal went all the way to the floor before the car came grinding to a halt. the abs light now goes on and off and the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor at least once a day. after researching the problem and speaking to a mechanic, i found that the sensors had failed. it is a frequent occurrence among other 2005-2006 chrysler pacifica owners i've come into contact with across the internet. *tr

My 2005 chrysler pacifica has an abs warning light that comes on and off, i went to midas and they told me there was a recall related to this, i went to dealership and they said only a technical advisory was issued saying to change all the brake sensors if one fails--this would cost me about $500--which i don't have. the dealership said i would still have brakes but the abs system would not work so i would be more likely to skid. this doesn't sound safe to me--i went on line and found multiple sites stating this is a problem with chrysler pacificas--so why won't chrysler pay to have it fixed, and if they don't volunteer why doesn't someone in our government make them? help! i haul kids around all day in my pacifica and i want them ( and me) to be safe. *tr

Multiple issues with this car! i will start with the problems that didn't almost kill myself and my children. the abs light would stay on and the dealer had no resolution. the car would stall while turning. i replaced the battery five times in four years. while idling in the driveway the drivers seat reclined by itself, would not respond to the controls and started smoking! the dealer claims they could not diagnose the problem! lastly, while driving my sons to school, the car was handling poorly and because it was dark and raining, initially i believed that it was wet road conditions. to maintain control of the car, i was traveling in the slow lane and my speed was approx. 30 mph. upon approaching the top of a small hill, the steering began to vibrate violently, at this time i believed that the car had a flat tire and that was what had caused the poor handling while driving. i immediately hit the button for my hazard lights and began to try to ease into the emergency lane and attempt to stop the car. it was instantly apparent that the car brakes and power steering were not working, which left me struggling at 30 mph and accelerating because of the i was now on the downward side of the hill, to try to maintain control of the car! i was able to keep the car from completely veering to the right and ultimately hit a 5 inch concrete curb that is a turn out for the corner gas station. upon hitting the curb the car then sprang to the left back into the highway lane. miraculously, no other vehicles were traveling in that lane at that moment! once, we were out of the car, i learned that the car did not have a flat tire but a part of the front end had broken and caused the passenger front tire to collapse into the wheel well...unbelievable! i believe this to be a defect of the car, in addition to he multitude of other defects of this car!! *tr

The emergency brake release handle has failed and has been replaced 4 times since the car was purchased in august, 2005. the most current failure event was on or about 9/15/11.the indicated date of first incident is an approximation of when the handle first broke. since then the handle seems to brake every 12-16 months. when the brake release handle fails the entire emergency brake assembly falls to the floor, thereby rendering the emergency brake/release inoperable. it is apparent that the cause of the failure is a defective design of the handle. on each side of the part there is a small ear with a hole in it. the part connects to the dashboard by 2 small pins that slide into the holes. to release the emergency brake the handle is pulled outward thus causing the handle to pivot on the pins which, in turn exerts enough stress on the two ears that over time causes them to break, resulting in the brake release assembly separating from the dashboard and falling to the floor.

The abs light keeps coming on in my 2005 pacifica so i thought something was wrong with the breaks so i got the front brakes repaired and the problem stopped for about 3 days, then it started again so i got the back brakes done and the same results, so finally i took it back to the car lot that i purchased it from and they cleared the code but the next day the same result. the brake pedal would go all the way down and it seem like when i hit the pedal that the vehicle doesn't want to stop. this is an on going problem that needs to be dealt with. i called a chrysler dealership and they don't have any recall on the brake pedal. something needs to be done before a life is lost because of a faulty brake pedal .

I was just leaving out of the gas station, went to put on brakes and abs light came on at the same time i put on brakes and felt like a grinding against something. took car to shop put new brakes on, but didn't resolve the problem. took car back to the shop because the abs light came back on. brakes sill having the same problem. i have had this problem checked out 3 times, and they cannot find and problem, but there is something going on with the brake pedal, in it or surrounding it. i have a 2005 chrysler pacifica, and i think it might be concerning the chrysler recall concerning the brake booster rod retaining clip. the brake failure occurs 2 to 3 time month. i thought putting on new brakes would solve the problem, but its coming from somewhere around the brake pedal not the brakes. had it checked out again nothing was found wrong with brakes. mechanic said nothing was found loose or missing. *tr

The abs light keeps coming on and the last time the brakes got very spongy. i have been doing some research on this problem and have found that this is very common in this vehicle. to me that should be a safety re-call. the brakes i would think are a very important part if not the most important part of the vehicle. does someone have to be killed before they are forced to do a re-call? *tr

We own a 2005 chrysler pacifica touring edition. about 3 months after we bought it (and the warranty ended), we noticed that the abs light would come on. sometimes it would stay on continuously, sometimes it would come off and on. when the light is on, and you press on the brake, the pedal begins to shake a little, and it's very hard to push and you hear a grinding noise. the car does not stop quickly at all, it just slows down a tiny bit. i've had more than 2 instances where i pressed the brake rather firmly and it didn't slow down enough and i didn't stop until i was in the middle of an intersection. i had both of my children with me at the time as well!! we took it to chrysler where they told us it would cost us roughly $80 an hour for them to figure out what was wrong. we just don't have that kind of money right now. the problem still happens frequently, but there's nothing we can do about it. from the research i have done on this problem, it is a very large problem with the pacificas. i've seen thousands of complaints online for this exact issue. please put a recall on it, so that those of us who can't afford $80 an hour can make sure our children are safe on the roads. i'm afraid to even drive my kids to school for fear that the brakes will completely go out. thank you so much! *tr

The abs (anti brake system) light started to come on and stay on i brought the car to the garage for repair the light still comes on i have made some research on the internet concerning that problem and discover that a lot of owner having the same type of car as me (2005 & up chrysler pacifica) are having the same problem. also one time when the abs light was on and stayed on while i was driving the abs system cause me to loose brakes for a few seconds when i was trying to brake, this is a serious safety failure and chrysler should address that. *tr

In october 2008 i purchased a 2005 chrysler pacifica and i have been having alot braking issues since. the abs light is constantly going on and off and the brake pedal felt bumpy and non-responsive at times. this is dangerous!!!! i have 8 week old twins. i went on the internet to find alot of people are having the same problems. i have yet to go to the dealer with this but after the holiday weekend i will but the abs systems in these cars should be recalled before people get hurt or lose their lives. *tr

2005 chrysler pacifica, started having problems at 50,000 miles. abs sensors had to be replaced and recall for fuel module...but most upsetting the car stalls at low speeds or while making turns..ie: pulling into parking spaces,etc.. i have brought it to dealership and like many others without engine light on they cannot duplicate problem, therefore we are sent on our way with no fix!! i have 4 children and i am terrified to drive this car!! why wont chrysler stand behind these vehicles!!!*tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the abs light illuminated a few months after the vehicle was purchased in october of 2008. in addition, the brakes were experiencing issues. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they stated that there was nothing wrong. the brakes continued to perform abnormally and produced a whistling sound. the brakes also pulsated and made a grinding noise as if they would lock up. the vehicle was taken to a repair shop and the mechanic stated that the pads were fine; however, the dealer installed cheap brake pads on the vehicle. the abs light illuminates intermittently and the contact must pump the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle. the brakes were repaired and the noises stopped; however, the abs light still illuminates. the failure mileage was 49,000 and current mileage was 73,400.

I began having a problem about 2 months ago with my abs light coming on. it would come on and turn off randomly. recently the light came on permanently and my brakes began grinding. we took it to the dealer and were told that the abs sensor is bad. not only that, but the motor mounts cracked and must be replaced. my vehicle is only 3 years old, and has 47000 miles on it. after doing some research, i have found that both of these issues are a common problem on this make and model vehicle. the dealer that we purchased it from admitted that this is a problem, but i was not able to find any recall information regarding either problem. i feel that both problems are dangerous, since the brakes did not work properly in my situation. if cracked motor mounts are not taken care of, they could possibly cause additional damage to the engine components. i think that chrysler should be held responsible for fixing these problems at their cost. i've seen many other people complaining that even after they've fixed the problem, they continue to have the same problem. i think both of these items should be considered for recall. *tr

Driving car the abs light comes on, first occurrence dealer replace the front abs sensors under the warranty. just 400 miles above the 36000 miles the abs light came on again. this time it was the rear abs sensors and i had to pay for them myself (out of warranty). there is a technical service bulletin from the manufacturer on this part recommending dealers to replace all 4 sensors for customers. this part is of poor quality and the manufacturer knows it. lives are put at risks at customers expense. this part should be recall for all vehicles affected. *jb

2005 pacifica touring was leased in july 2005. since then, the upgraded infinity sound system has required repair twice and regularly makes a loud popping sound. the abs warning light came on signaling a failure in the anti-lock brake system march 2006. i scheduled an appointment for march 30, 2006 to repair the abs system and on my way to work, i needed to turn left, put my foot on the brake, and the car suddenly sped up instead of slowing down. a few weeks prior, we slowed down to make another left turn and the vehicle stalled and shut off completely. i had leased the pacifica for 36 months, and last week when the abs system failed and my car sped up while braking, i took it back to the dealership and demanded that they get me out of that vehicle. i was able to terminate my lease and purchase a jeep vehicle (the dealership sells jeep) because after i read dozens of consumer complaints, reviews from nhtsa and consumer affairs about the safety issues of this vehicle, i couldn't, in good faith, put myself or my child in that vehicle ever again. not only would driving the pacifica put our lives at risk, but that of others. i could not live with myself if i knowingly operated a hazardous vehicle and hurt someone as a result. push for a replacement. you'll get one!*jb

Dating back to the spring of 2006, i have been having problems with the abs light symbol constantly coming on in my car. i took it to the dealers on several occasions and told them that when i'm traveling for 10-15 minutes or longer it comes on. they told me that they couldn't find anything wrong and they even test drove my vehicle. i'm very concerned about this problem. i'm afraid that the braking system is going to fail on me all together. *jb
