On february 27, 2006 rq06-002 was opened in response to 60 complaints of engine stall, mostly during left-hand turns, in model year (my) 2004 to 2006 chrysler pacifica vehicles that were outside the scope of recall 04v-113.in march 2004, daimlerchrysler initiated recall 04v-113 on 34,561 my 2004 pacifica vehicles to correct a condition that could result in engine stall while making a left-hand turn after a cold-start.during rq06-002 it was determined that recall 04v-113 did correct the specific cause of the engine stalling condition for that specific population.however, two other conditions were identified that could also cause engine stalling during turning maneuvers:(1) an issue with misbuilt fuel pumps that primarily affected about 17,000 my 2005 pacifica vehicles built during august and september 2004; and (2) a software condition affecting vapor purge in about 131,000 my 2005-06 pacifica vehicles built from july 2004 through november 2005. an engineering analysis, ea06-013, has been opened to further examine the scope, frequency and safety consequences associated with each of these conditions in the subject vehicles.

In a november 8, 2006 letter, daimlerchrysler corporation (dcc) submitted a defect information report to nhtsa concerning two separate defect conditions that could result in engine stall while driving in model year (my) 2005-2006 chrysler pacifica vehicles (nhtsa recall no. 06v-432).my 2005 vehicles built in august and september of 2004 are being recalled to correct a defect in the secondary fuel pump modules, which may have an improper press fitting on the inlet that can become dislodged and shut-off fuel flow.all my 2005-2006 vehicles built between july 8, 2004 and november 11, 2005 are being recalled to correct a powertrain control module (pcm) software issue with the evaporative emissions system which can also cause stalling.for both conditions, engine stall incidents tend to occur during left turns. there were 17,375 vehicles built during august and september 2004 that were affected by both the fuel pump module and pcm software conditions.there were 30 voqs submitted to odi, 58 consumer complaints to dcc and 829 field reports relating to vehicles produced during this period.while these are mostly related to the fuel pump condition, some may have been caused by the software fault.the resulting stall while driving failure rate for this period is 5,278 incidents per 100,000 vehicles.there were two crashes alleged to have resulted from these incidents.there were 1,021 warranty claims for fuel pump module replacement that appear related to engine stall (5.9% claim rate). the population for the remaining vehicles included in 06v-432 (i.e., those only affected by the software condition) is 114,523.there were 97 voqs, 124 consumer complaints to dcc and 454 dcc field reports relating to these vehicles.the resulting stall while driving failure rate is 589 per 100,000 vehicles.there were seven crashes alleged to have resulted from these incidents.there were 3,211 warranty claims for pcm reflash that appear related to engine stall in the total population of 131,898 vehicles (2.4% claim rate). all calculations are based on unique vins (multiple/repeat failures not included in these calculations) with no duplication across categories.dcc's recall will reprogram the pcm software and replace the fuel pump modules in all affected vehicles.this engineering analysis has been closed.

Ea06-010 was opened based on information gathered in preliminary evaluation pe06-009.pe06-009 was opened based on information obtained in a peer information request as part of a preliminary evaluation (pe05-050) of fuel tank puncture in model year (my) 2003 through 2006 nissan murano vehicles.in january 2006, nissan submitted a defect information report to odi that identified a defect in the fuel tank shielding in approximately 209,000 my 2003 through 2006 nissan murano vehicles.to remedy the problem, nissan installed shields on the exposed front surfaces of the recalled vehicles.peer data collected for my 2004 through 2005 pacifica vehicles during pe05-050 included 120 field reports documenting tank replacements due to puncture or damage by road debris as part of a parts restriction program conducted at the request of the tank supplier (inergy). analysis of the information provided by chrysler during pe05-050, pe06-009 and ea06-010 show that the front surface of the fuel tanks in the subject pacifica vehicles is not completely protected fromroad debris by the floor pan or other body structure.the tanks were compared with peer vehicles, including several identified by chrysler as sharing similar design characteristics (unshielded high-density polyethylene plastic fuel tanks in a saddlebag configuration).some of the peer designs reviewed by odi packaged the tanks in recessed cavities in the floor pan or used shields to protect exposed surfaces on the front of the tank.in general, these tanks had the lowest complaint rates for tank puncture by road debris. however, other peer designs reviewed by odi had packaging similar to the subject vehicles and some of these also had some complaints of tank puncture.none of the peer vehicles analyzed by odi had tanks puncture data comparable to chrysler's field reports from its part restriction programs, so that data could not be used in peer comparisons. analysis of the complaint data shows that the rate for the subject vehicles is about half that observed in the recalled murano vehicles and not significantly higher than some of the peer vehicles analyzed with similar design characteristics.testing by the nhtsa vehicle research and testing center (vrtc) showed differences between the murano and pacifica fuel tank packaging and exposure to road debris thrown by the front tires.accordingly, this investigation is closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will continue to monitor complaints and other information relating to the alleged defect in the subject vehicles and take further action in the future if warranted.see document file for additional information regarding this resume.

Ive had this car for just over one year. i have replaced 2 motor mounts, 6 months apart. the electric cooling fan motor bearing went bad and you cant replace just the motor, you have to replace both motors, both fans and the shroud ( ridiculous ). my check engine light is on and says fuel cap on dash but i replaced the cap and now as i'm looking on this site i know its probably the gas tank lines cracked. ive also got the sticky gas pedal, transmission bangs into 2nd randomly. my conclusion after reading about so many problems that many people are having with this vehicle is that there should be recalls. i mean jesus were talking about fire hazards and a sticking accelerator potentially causing an accident. nothing but problems with this car at such low miles. never again chrysler.

Obtained car brand new in 2006, yr later had to replace engine, was said they gave us a new one, prior to that we had sunroof issue that still persist to this day 6years later... elecrical off. one minute you have gas and next mintue literally fuel light is on..fast foward a tad 2007 stalling problems,...fast fowrd even more 30,000miles later.... stalling allllllllot, especially while i'm driving with my kids. making a u-turn and just simply parking into a space no go.. gas cap light is on, check engine light on.... currently vehicle is at dealership which was charging us $2,632.00 to fix problems, besides overcharging ridiculously, chrysler offered to pay most of bill after doing research and realizing we were getting ripped off, a two day job is now turned into 1week, no vehicle, no loaner.. 6yrs. later failed emissions test is what prompted myself to take it to a dealership...now i cannot pass an emissions test nor register my vehicle @ end month>( today). would like to trade, however they low balled me & said $4,000.they cannot get car to reset, and still could not find out why it is stalling. after letting dealership know i have an open case seems like they are singing a different tune...still no car/ no fix...

This last friday, the 11/18/11, was the last incident where it finally stalls completely and i have to move out of traffic. for over a month now, the gas gauge has dropped to zero (when i know i have gas in there) so i have to keep up with that on the side, the electrical trip mileage gauge says gas cap, checked it, kind of jittery, where it would jerk and not accelerate on the road, until this last friday when i turned a corner, and it just stalled. started it up, and went down the road and as soon as i accelerated in oncoming traffic, it stalled again, pulled off the road towards oncoming traffic and sat for a moment, gentleman stopped to help me, and said it might be overheating, to turn my heater on and leave it running since i still had several miles to go to get home and everyone was gone at the house. so i turned it back on and heated it up and away i went, got about a mile and it stalled again, so i went on the shoulder and coasted for about another mile and started it up and coasted it again, 'til i got to our small town and started it up, went to take a corner, and it stalled on the corner, so i coasted a bit again, and started up, and went down about a mile, put into neutral (so not to use gas and accelerate) around the corner and went down about another mile, put into neutral again, took the corner, back into drive and down the road to the house, took another turn in neutral, and coasted into the drive way. i've noticed that there is a recall with 2006 chrysler pacifica for the fuel pump and control module with power train. according to www.motortrend.com recall id#57629 powertrain:at:control module (tcm, pcm). it is sitting and want it fixed as soon as possible before me driving with the kids in the car and i can't make it out in an intersection because of a problem with chrysler and their parts/recall. otherwise, i'll look into legal action.

Engine light came on, had vehicle checked and it turned out to be an evap leak. bought a new gas cap first, that didn't fix it, mechanic pulled the gas tank and found the fuel pump line had cracked, evidently the gas tank is plastic and sunk in at the top causing the plastic line on the pump to crack. this is potentially a very dangerous situation we had to add some extra line to fuel line just to put the tank back up and keep from braking the new fuel pump. *tr

We purchased our 2006 pacifica, certified used, in may '07 with less than 21k miles. within a few weeks the car started stalling - frequently. the first time it happened, i was exiting the freeway. as i approached the bottom of the ramp, my car stalled and the steering wheel locked. i ended up in the oncoming traffic lanes (it was early; there were no cars at the time). the subsequent stallings would occur anytime i was making a right or left turn or just coming to a stop (at about 3-7mph). the car has been in 7 times for repair (totaling more than 30 days, and has incurred over 300 miles of testing). we have had the idle undershoot reprogrammed, 2 fuel pumps replaced, pcm reprogrammed, a new pcm, once was told it was just out of gas - even though it said i had 30 miles to go and fuel light wasn?t on - they put a couple of gallons in my tank, enough to get me to a gas station (now i had 60 miles to go) and car stalled again after filling tank. it's now back with the dealer (6 days now), after having been towed in we couldn't even back out of the driveway without it stalling. it is currently being looked at with the help of chrysler, but were told they cannot duplicate the problem (even though we were able to duplicate it with their mechanic in the car a few days ago). frustrating and disturbing. this is a serious issue and just a matter of time before someone has an accident. how many cars can we continue to avoid hitting? *tr

When making a left turn, vehicle shuts off (stalls). vehicle was completely warmed up and had been driven about 20 miles at the time of stall. this is the second time this vehicle has stalled in the past 2 months. first time vehicle was serviced at the location purchased and unable to identify the problem. this time another call was made to dealer and an appointment scheduled to have the vehicle looked at again, but with the check engine light not on, dealer is sure a diagnostic test will show nothing. phone call to daimler chrysler to discuss the issue produced no results. csr indicated that daimler chrysler is not aware of a stalling issue with these vehicles. *nm

My wife and i had our 2006 chrysler pacifica shipped from charleston, sc to honolulu, hi. we noticed a gasoline smell after we received the car. the shipping company said it was no fault of their own and the dodge dealership said it wasn't covered under the warranty. the dodge dealership said that the fuel tank had impact damage and would have to replace the fuel tank for $1096. that's a lot of money to me. regardless, after reading that the investigation was no longer in effect i was dishearten. we can not drive the car in the condition it is in. i wouldn't allow my wife or child to get into a car with a gas leak. i hope this helps reopen or continue the investigation. *tr

2006 chrysler pacifica gas pedal sticks, when accelerating from a stop position. it happens a least 3 times a day. the vehicle was taken to the chrysler service department, and they could not find a problem. chrysler needs to be proacvtive before this gas pedal sticking causes a major ordeal for chrysler and consumers. also, the lifter noise complaints is also a common problem and nhtsa needs to research this defect more closely. i just had this repaired.
