I will hear a chime and look to see why and the abs light will be on. then when i hit the brakes sometimes they feel fine other times they feel spongy. i have read where this is a ongoing problem with pacificas. there needs to be a recall and chrysler needs to pay for the repairs.

I have been getting an abs light on my 2006 pacifica. when it is on the brakes shake and grab. when the abs light is off they are fine. i have been researching the problem and have found dozens of others that are having the same problem with their abs fort pacificas. many are having speed sensors replaced without fixing the problem others are bieng told that they need brakes and other electronic components. i think chrysler is ignoring the probelm and that brakes that are intermiittent is a serious problem.

2006 chrysler pacifica abs brake lights keep comming on and off time to time.

My abs light keeps coming on in my 2006 chrysler pacifica. i drive my car every day to take my children to daycare and then to work. while driving my car, my brakes will start grinding and then the brakes will fail. i have luckily not been in any accidents, but have ran stop signs and stop lights due to not being able to stop. i have come inches from hitting other cars. this occurs every time that i drive the car. it will start to happen within the first four to five miles and i drive roughly 20 miles a day just to work. i have taken my car into les schwab and they say my brakes and pads are fine. they flushed the brakes and re-bled them to see if that would do anything, but it has not. i have searched on line and found hundreds of owners for the 2006 pacifica stating the same problems, and any time they fix a sensor which is what the reader code is coming up, the same thing happens and says it's the sensor again. it really concerns me that there has not been a recall on this vehicle yet. what does it take? someone to die before this vehicle is recalled? every day i have to wonder if my children and i will be seriously injured or killed because of this problem. i don't make a lot of money, have 3 children to support and cannot afford to by another car. i have no choice but to drive this vehicle to get to work. i am pleading to please, please, please, take this problem seriously and to save the lifes of these many owners and families of the 2006 pacifica. what if you and you're family owned this vehicle? think of how scary it is to lose your brakes. thank you! i put the incident date as the day this started happening.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). abs light on - failure to stop the vehicle. i own a chry-pacifica 2006, abs light came on while driving the car, just before the light came on, (transition between abs stopped working and turned to traditional brakes) i was making a left turn, the car instead of stopping kept going and i just missed hitting the oncoming traffic. the failure could have resulted in catastrophic accident. i took the car to get this repaired and was informed that there is a bulletin providing instruction about replacement of sensors for pacifica, also it suggests it could be covered under warranty based on warranty provisions. mileage: around 60,000 the question i have is if chrysler is aware of the issue why can't they extend warranty on such parts that are related to safety? also, it requires the owner to replace all four sensors - why? is there anything that can bedone to help the customer with this issue?  I drive a 2006 chrysler pacifica touring. i have had issues with the abs light coming on and off. it does not make a difference the speed i am traveling and when i come to a stop it begins to vibrate and i rearended the people infront of me. i have also had issues with my car stalling for no apparent reason. it is hard to believe that there is not a recall on this particular unit. i have called the dealership and also chrysler and they said no problems have ever been documented...they need to start checking this site and see that all of the problems are the same. *cw

2006 chrysler pacifica. abs system failures. abs system engages and disengages at random while driving. dealer says this is known to chrysler because they used wiring to the wheels that was not heavy (or strong) enough and each wheel sensor must be replaced to correct the problem chrysler dealer said this is not a safety issue but i believe that it is especially should i need to brake hard in and emergency. why should the owner of these vehicles have to pay to correct an issue that chrysler knows is their fault from the beginning? is this a safety issue or not? *tr

The abs light has been flickering on and off. recently, the abs traction kicked in while the mrs. was at a low rate of speed (luckily) without causing a collision. in reading about this problem on the internet it appears that there are others who have cited a similar problem with the abs module for the 2006 chrysler pacificas. *tr

I bought my 2006 chrysler pacifica during the month of march 2007. after 3 days of driving the vehicle, i realized that there was something wrong with the brakes. at this time, my vehicle had only 18,000 miles on it. when i would hit my brakes the abs light would come on and it felt as if my brakes were actually bumping under my foot. the bumping was also coincided with a horrible grinding sound. i contacted the dealership and was told that the vehicle was to new to have brake problems and that the abs light was most likely a dummy light. as to date, august 13, 2008, the problem still persist. i cannot believe that there are so many complaints on this particular year, make and model of vehicle concerning the brakes and nothing has been done. does there have to be a fatality to get anyone to notice? *tr

Incident #1: 3 days after purchasing the vehicle, i noticed there was something wrong with my brakes. i took it in and was told that my rotors needed to be replaced (the vehicle had 30 miles on it when i bought it). i was told all the rotors were warped. incident #2: approximately 4 weeks after purchasing, my left headlight went out. not a major problem, but still an inconvenience...especially when car is brand new. incident #3: i was making a right hand turn out of the parking lot when vehicle stalled on me. my steering wheel locked up and i glided across 2 lanes of the road (amazingly without hurting myself or others). no warning at all. vehicle started back up just find...but very scary. took it into the service and was told that my computer needed to be flashed incident #4: abs light came on out of nowhere and i felt a fluttering of the brake pedal when pressing the brake. i was told the sensors needed to be replaced and they were. incident #5: received my vehicle back from repair on incident #4 on tuesday, vehicle is back in the shop today (2 days later). fluttering from the brake pedal again. unsure what the outcome is...still in service. fortunately, none of these incidents have caused me, my family, or others any injury or harm but each of these incidents (besides the headlight) could have resulted in serious injuries or resulted in deaths. *nm

On january 1, 2007, i was driving the vehicle in my neighborhood traveling at a rate of about 25 mph. as i tapped the brakes lightly to slow down, the brake pedal pulsated rapidly and noticed the abs light turn on. i did not bear down on the brake pedal so i do not know why the abs system engaged. the brake light stayed on for the remainder of the day. on january 4, 2007, my wife was driving the vehicle at lunchtime and the abs system engaged without her even touching the brake pedal. the brakes made a squealing noise at the time. needless to say, the abs light is back on. *nm

I have logged numerous complaints to chrysler and they have not remedied this problem. the severity increased yesterday while driving. when slowly stopping the vehicle the front end vibrated has a distinct intermittent rubbing sound and brakes pulsated. i took the vehicle to dealer several times , and requested a factory representative to evaluate front end alignment. no change. there was something wrong with braking system, and chrysler was not helpful. *ak
