| Defect Summary | Vehicle description: certain passenger vehicles, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of fmvss no. 225, child restraint anchorage systems. some of the owner's manuals for these vehicles are missing instructions that provide a step-by-step procedure, including diagrams, for properly attaching a child restraint system's tether strap to the tether anchorage. | |||||||||||||||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2001 chrysler pt cruiser and a 2008 evenflo embrace child restraint seat model number 4851906a. the contact was transporting the child in an infant only child restraint seat. the handle of the child restraint seat loosened when grasped firmly. the handle was not attached securely to the restraint seat. the handle did not fail. there was slipping of the handle which could cause release of the child seat and occupant. there were no injuries. the restraint seat was replaced for safety issues involved. the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. the vin number was unknown. bl | |||
