Defect SummaryCertain passenger vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 225, child restraint anchorage systems. the right rear 65% seat center lower anchor was manufactured with a wire diameter that is greater than the maximum allowable dimension as specified in the standard.
Consequence SummaryIf the connector for a latch-type child restraint is not attached correctly to the anchorage points, the restraint will not properly protect a child in the event of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the right rear seat center anchor and, if necessary, resize the anchor to meet the diameter specified within the standard. owner notification began november 4, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2001 chrysler pt cruiser. when attempting to shift gears, the gear shifter became loose and temporarily inoperative. the contact took the vehicle to a transmission expert and a technician stated that the gear box bushings and thrust washers were missing. he took the vehicle to a dealer and they replaced the clutch cables at the cost of $300. in addition, the seat cables to the rear passenger seat failed. he called the manufacturer and left a message. the failure and current mileages were 28,000.

 The air bag light illuminated on the dash board. the air bag swtich has been changed several times but the problem remained. *nlm the code on the left side seat squib open was found, which was taken apart and reinstalled. the stereo was defective. scc

 Driver's headrest keeps moving up while driving vehicle. vehicle taken to dealer, passenger's seat was replaced by mistake. consumer is still waiting to have driver seat replaced. please add further details.*ak

 Head restraints are causing poor visibility. dealer was notified, and unwilling to assist in this matter. *ak consumer believes this to be a design problem, the rear head rests are very distracting and confusing when using the inside rear view mirror, the front seat head rests block visibility when changing lanes or backing up.*slc

 Head restraint is of such design that it will not stay in position. it will drift up, and consumer's head rests against metal bars. chrysler admitted there was a problem, and they were working on it.*ak chrysler stated to consumer that all vehicles made after november 2000 have this problem. *slc
