I went in to the local chrysler dealership on satruday, january 21, 2012 for a routine oile change. i was told that i needed to replace an engine mount. i had to replace on in september of 2010 and i was quite shocked that i was faced with this repaid again. it was a different mount this time. so i asked the customer service representative why does this keep happening. i am 57 years old and in 40 years of driving i have never even heard about this happening to any one. i was told that there is somewhat of a design flaw in the pt cruiser and that this particular dealer performs 20 to 30 like repairs a week.. this means that there is a design flaw in this vehicle. i checked on line and sure enough, it appears that there hundreds of complaints about pt cruiser engine mounts. what can be done? it is not fair that chrysler can sell a product like this - knowing that there are issues - and keep raking in money for the repairs. shouldn't they be held to some kind of standard? this is a safety matter, for sure. it is a moral one as well.

2006 chyrsler pt cruiser. bought the vehicle brand new in 2006. in the last two years i noticed intermittently the car wouldn't start which seemed to be the battery. it started after jumping and would be fine for 4 months or more. since then i have pinpointed it to leaving the key in the ignition for just 2 minutes. thought this was weird since my battery was oly 3 years old when this first start. recently, the windshield wipers, turninging signals, and headlights do not work. i checked all fuses, they are good. i read online about the total integrated power module that replaced the 2006 interior fuse boxes. i read many complaints about the same issue. when i found out my turning signals were not working i thought they were the fuses and had no idea my headlights were not working as they worked when i checked them after the turning signals were not working. that night, i started driving home and the headlights went out on a very dark road without notice. my son and i were in serious danger and the only thing we could do was turn on the hazard lights. think god they worked. the basic safety requirements on a car such as the above should never go bad without notice and without an easy fix. i can not believe that chrysler has not put out a recall to fix this problem. also the interior lights would not turn on inside the vehicle except if i opened the door. you could not turn them on if the door was closed. i am sure it has caused accidents as it could have the night ours went bad. i hope that the napa chrysler can fix mine as the service manager didn't even know with the tipm was.

While driving in heavy rain, my windshield wipers stopped working in the middle of a wipe cycle. i could not see because ofthe heavy downpour and had to slow down to a crawl and try to get on the side of the road. after pulling over, the wipers started working again. once back on the road, they stopped again. this happened a total of 3 times until i could get to an exit.

My daughter's 2006 pt cruiser was involved in a minor fender bender in a walmart parking lot. her car was struck on the left front bumper from a 90 degree angle. neither vehicle could have been going more thatn 15 mph. the impact knocked the front bumper loose, pushed in the grill, and buckled the hood slightly on the pt cruiser. it did not catch the fender as the left front headlight lens assembly was not broken. within a few seconds of the impact, my daughter sighted flames in the engine compartment which werre visible underneath the buckled hood. she and her passenger immediately gathered their personal belongings and exited the car. both my daughter and the other driver called 911 but even with the fire department 300 yards away, the fire destroyed the vehicle. what should have been a $1500 bumper replacement and body shop job resulted in a totalled vehicle due to the fire. the police did not cite either driver.
