Daimlerchrysler corporation (dcc) will recall model year 2005 and 2006 pt cruiser vehicles produced from 5/17/05 through 9/1/05 to correct a potential defect in the rear quarter panel glass that may separate from the vehicle.dcc will inspect the rear quarter panel glass and replace if necessary.dcc will begin notifying owners in may 2007. vehicles produced prior to and after the above build dates are not affected.a change made by the assembly plant in may 2005 that modified the glass attachment led to the potential for glass separation.in september 2005, subsequent changes to the process were made to correct this.this engineering analysis is closed.see recall 07v149 for additional details.

My front windshild wipers stopped working. i took it into the chrysler dodge dealership, jackson mi and found the tipm, totally integrated power module was defective and needed to be replaced at cost of $906. i found on the internet this is a common problem on chryslers. it is at the dealer getting repaired. i feel a recall of this is needed. if you are out driving and the wipers go out you are in big trouble. just lucky we were in town and not on the expressway. *tr

Wife left house at 4:45pm (near dusk) during rain. she got 2 1/2 miles away, phoned and said wipers on 2006 pt cruiser had stopped working. went to meet her on side of road and drove car back to house, her in front of me with our flashers on, while the rain had slacked, but not completely stopped. the wipers will come on very slowly and eventually stop, if i jiggle the wiper control and turn signal at the same time. i've checked the internet and it seems like this is a common problem for this vehicle. i do believe this warrants a recall, as this could lead to a very serious or deadly accident. i don't know how many compaints it takes before something is done, but it needs to be done soon. i haven't taken this car to a mechanic yet as we have our old ford pickup to drive on rainy days, thank god!!!!!

The front passenger window of my 2006 pt cruiser spontaneously (?) exploded, sending shattered glass into my car while i was driving through a residential neighborhood at about 25 miles per hour on a very temperate night. i had just stopped at a stop sign, and was getting back up to normal speed. there was only one loud bang, and i heard no other sounds. there were no cars beside me, and i did not see any activity out that side of the car that would account for a pebble being thrown, or a bb gun being shot, etc., although it was dark out. in fact, i believe i was driving past a vacant lot. the inside temperature of the car and outside temperature were about the same, at about 65-70 degrees. i did not find any foreign objects while cleaning the glass out of my car. only a few pieces of shattered glass were left remaining around the edges of my window, but otherwise the window was completely gone. sharp pieces of glass were mostly in the floorboard and front seat of my car, although some did fly into the back floorboard. there were a few pieces of glass in my cup holders in the center console, and at least one piece made it over to the driver's side. my arm was cut very superficially in one place.

Over the past three weeks the front wipers have been working intermittently, this morning they stopped completely. they froze in the on/up position blocking my view while driving. they did creep their way down and are currently stopped about 1/4 of the way up on the windshield. i am concerned that they won't work on one of our many rainy days in oregon, luckily today is a dry day.

Last winter the rear windshield wiper quit working completely. now the front windshield wipers will not work on high and when they are turned on high, they just stop in the middle of the windshield. sometimes when i turn them off they will go all the way down and then about 1/4 of the way back up and just stop. i am concerned that i will not be able to see out the back window and that that the front wipers will completely stop when i am driving. i will not be able to see and it will risk other drivers and people during hard rain or snow. i have read many complaints about this and some cannot even drive the vehicles. i have checked the fuses, replaced the blades, made sure there is washer fluid and had a mechanic tell me that he has had complaints of the same thing. when the motors are replaced, the wipers still do not work.

I was driving my 06 pt cruiser down the freeway at 65mph when i heard a whistling sound. i looked in my review mirror is time to see the rear quarter stationary window fly off and bounce across the lanes. luckily it missed the cars behind me. it was like the other descriptions form nhtsa #07v-149. the recall ended with 6t230885 manufactured 9/1/05. my car was manufactured at the same plant, and was manufactured in 10/05. i believe that it and others need to be included in the recall.

Drivign down the freeway my rear passenger side stationary window (wedge window) was sucked off the car. upon inspection it appears this window was originally glue in. while reading of this problem online from other owners i have noticed a trend it seems to happen a lot with this particular window on the passenger side for the car. why has this not been addressed. i was traveling down the freeway in moving traffic being followed by cars. this could have created a sever problem. luckily no one was hit by the flying window. *tr

Driving at 65 mph on an interstate highway when a rear quarter window fell out, blowing backwards and striking the following car. the window in question was only glued to its framework, no screws or clips of any sort. a recall to secure the window permanently, using something besides glue, is the only way to correct the failure. *nm

2006 chyrsler pt cruiser. bought the vehicle brand new in 2006. in the last two years i noticed intermittently the car wouldn't start which seemed to be the battery. it started after jumping and would be fine for 4 months or more. since then i have pinpointed it to leaving the key in the ignition for just 2 minutes. thought this was weird since my battery was oly 3 years old when this first start. recently, the windshield wipers, turninging signals, and headlights do not work. i checked all fuses, they are good. i read online about the total integrated power module that replaced the 2006 interior fuse boxes. i read many complaints about the same issue. when i found out my turning signals were not working i thought they were the fuses and had no idea my headlights were not working as they worked when i checked them after the turning signals were not working. that night, i started driving home and the headlights went out on a very dark road without notice. my son and i were in serious danger and the only thing we could do was turn on the hazard lights. think god they worked. the basic safety requirements on a car such as the above should never go bad without notice and without an easy fix. i can not believe that chrysler has not put out a recall to fix this problem. also the interior lights would not turn on inside the vehicle except if i opened the door. you could not turn them on if the door was closed. i am sure it has caused accidents as it could have the night ours went bad. i hope that the napa chrysler can fix mine as the service manager didn't even know with the tipm was.

Stress crack in windshield. begans below the seal, middle of windshield. chrysler states that at 35,000 miles my car is not under warranty. service men took pictures and said i might get a merit on warranty. glass is only covered for 12,00 miles. though the service men did say that it was indeed a stress crack, no signs of impact. i know nothing has hit my windshield, or i would have taken this up with csaa. this is a safety issue. chrysler had to recall 2006 quarter panels due to this as well. i have a 2006 limited. *tr
