I purchased my new 2007 pt cruiser from hayes chrysler dodge jeep, inc. in lawrenceville, ga on january 27, 2007, with 32 miles on car. i was instructed to drive the car and return in three weeks for a new car check and list my concerns regarding the car. at this time in informed the service staff that the car did not excelarate when entering the freeway and passing other cars. the service staff returned my car to me indicating that they could not find any problems with the car. a few months later the car check engine light came on. again the service staff told me they did not find any problem with the car. my check engine light came on serveral time after my initial return each time the service staff did not find any problem. each service visit i informed the service staff that the car still did not excelarate. on a routine oil change i spoke to a new service staff empolyee, told him of my concern and dissatisfaction with the car. after waiting for over an hour, i was told that they had finally found the problem (69k plus miles, 3 years later) the engine had misfired cylinders. i was told that apparently all this time the computer in the car and the engine were disfunctional and didnot communicate. the service staff attempt to fix what i would call a defective parts. after the fix the car still did not perform. about three weeks ago the repair failed. my check engine light came on and i was told that what was fix had broken. i was also told by the chrysler corp. engine trouble should be discovered during a routine oil change. it was not in my case. it took three years of routine oil changes before they discovered the problem with the defective engine in my car. i feel hayes & chrysler corp should be responsibile for the re-repair. can you help or adivse where i can seek assistance. thank you

Iwas driving and entering the expressway from an on ramp when my check engine light came on after i heard a ding sound. i tried to excellerate and could not go over 20 miles an hour with out the car sputtering as if it was not getting gas. i drove to the nearest off ramp and preceded to a dealership where i had an oil change done on the same car a month prior. i had bought the car used from carmax just 4 months ago and it only had 44,000.the tech said it was probably something minor. when he called to tell me what was wrong it was not minor. the cam and crank position sensors had gone out. at the tune of $491.00 to fix it. i called the operations manager at carmax and all he wanted to say was thank goodness i had bought the extended warranty so it would only be $300.00 for the deductible. i saw that there were others with this same problem. i have had more people tell me that these cars (pt cruisers) have many problems and that something is always going wrong with them. i wish i had never gotten this type of vechile now!!! i am stuck with this car because i cannot trade it in, i would be upside down. hopefully i will not have the oil problems that all the others have had. if i had known they were built in mexico i would not have even thought about buying it.

2007 chrylser pt cruiser about 63300 miles. consumes about 4 quarts about every 2500 miles. i have noticed this since i purchased the vehicle in 2008. it seems to be increasing with mileage. i have found that there is really no point in changing the oil because i replace all of it before the 3000 so i am just replacing the filter.

On december 24, 2007 i took my 2007 pt cruiser, that is only 6 months old, to firestone to be checked on cause i noticed i was leaking oil. they proceeded to take my car put it on the lift and noticed it was leaking dramatically. they then told me that i had major engine trouble and needed to have it checked out. i went to sears auto center i pulled in front within 10 minutes all the oil in the car was on the ground. i had them look at it and they said my car has major engine trouble. i had my car towed to the dealership which i bought it. on december 26. 2007 i got a phone call saying they had to order the small block for the car because a bearing in the crankshaft went and blew the bottom half of the engine out and it would cost about $6,000 to fix. he also told me the part would be in friday december 28, 2007 but he had no idea when it would get done because of the amount of work that needed done. i then contacted chrysler because i feel unsafe in a car that no warning lights come on and that needed major engine repair within the first six months. after it's fixed i'm worried it is going to happen again. they advised me i could trade it in for something else but i would have to carry the balanced owed over. the dealership didn't want to give me much for it. i called chrysler financial and they advised me to contact my attorney general's office to see about a lemon law or a buy back because a car that is only 6 months old should need work that extensive. i then contacted chrysler to see if they could just replace the car because of the amount of damage was done. they then advised me they would send the dealership all the paper work that is needed to document the damage and for me to contact the attorney general's office to see if the company is required to buy back this vehicle that needed this extensive work done to it. *tr
