While driving, smoke came out of the engine compartment, dealer stated that when the manufacturer assembled the wiring harness, all fusible links were taped together, causing it to get hot and melt, the heat generated the plastic to catch fire and burn all of the wires. *slc

The fusable links were tightly bundled near driver side shock tower. the cooling fan motor siezed. the engine did not overheat due to operation at highway speed . the fuseable link in the center of the tight bundle burned, causing most of the others to also burn.this bundle was also atop the main wiring harnes, causing it to start to burn. smelling something hot, i pulled over and opened the hood to find a small electrical fire. being a firefighter i quickly disconected the negative battery cable causing the fire to go out. the fuasble links were tightly bundled at the factory. this is a dangerous situation that is simple to fix, by cutting the bundle and slightly spacing the fusable links out. *ak
