CHILD SEAT - HARNESS BUCKLE - INFANT
12/28/1998205/01/1996
Vehicle is equipped with manufacturers integral child safety seats. on 2 occasions, the occupied seat has refused to release the belted child. when this occurs, no amount of force will release the tension necessary to remove the occupant, and the only way to do so is to cust the child out of the seat with large knife or scissors, which we are now forced to carry with us at all times in this vehicle.the manufacturer is apparently aware of the problem, as the seats were redesigned in '97-98 model. however we have despite 2 incidents, we have been unable to upgrade to the new style. i would like the dot to initiate a recall investigation, and force chrysler to upgrade all seats to correct this extremely dangerous safety issue. *ak
