Consumer received recall campaign id 02v293000 and has made several attempts to have remedy performed to no avail. currently, the airbag light is illuminated ,and horn does not work. took vehicle in for remedy on 01/16/02 was informed that the service technician was not in and told to return the next day. consumer called to confirm appointment, and returned on 01/17/02, was told the service technician was currently off site ,and would not return until 2pm, and that the part had to be ordered. consumer was working and had to leave. spoke with service manager bob murray and attempted to set up an appointment for 01/18/02, but was informed that the service tech does not work on saturdays. *ak manager also could not confirm appt advising consumer would contact once part arrived. consumer lives in a rural area and dealer is only option for recall remedy.*ak

My 'air bag' light flickered for a month and then finally stayed on. i discovered my horn did not work, or the cruise control. i replaced the fuses, and the problem continued. i contacted my repair shop and was told other minivans had the same proble. he referred me to the dealer. the dealer was well aware of the problem and told me it was the clockswitch. it would cost approximately $250 to repair. he informed me that my air bag does not work, in addition to the cruise control and horn. i researched the web and found many others have the same problem. i contacted chrysler, they claim it is not a defect and not a reall. this should be a recall since over 124,511 of these parts have been replaced, at the owner's expense, and who knows how many vehicles are out there where the operators are unaware their air bag will not deploy. this is a sfety issue!!!!!! please investigate!!!*ak

The airbag warning light came on in june. i contacted the dealer and was told that it was the clockspring without them even looking at it. they also told me that my cruise control and horn would fail next. sure enough, about a week later the cruise control and horn ceased to function. i have a friend with a 1997 caravan with the same problem. if the dealer knew what was wrong with it sight unseen, that indicates that this is a common problem. i see that there is an open investigation (nhtsa action#ea01007) into this very problem, and i hope that it results in a recall soon. the dealer wants almost $300.00 to fix it. *ak

 1. steering system locked up while making turns making control of vehicle difficult. van also made screeching noises while turning. was told rack and pinion needed replacing per service bulletin. it was, but did not solve problem. dealer recommended drive belt and tensioner be replaced. this finally helped. 2. air bag light and abs lights came on, and traction control went off at hwy speeds. air bag light remained on constantly. dealer says that both air bag clock spring and abs controler must be replaced. dealer stated that if these controlers were not replaced, neither the air bags, the horn, the cruise control nor the abs braking system would work. please reopen nhtsa action investigation #ea01007 for the air bag clock spring in this vehicle. it is important for people to know that if their air bag light won't go off it means that the system is not operational!
