 Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler town and country. he stated that the parking brake was covered with rust which caused the springs to break. the rear wheels also displayed a piercing sound as if there was metal rubbing together when he drove in reverse. the dealer stated that the repair cost was $2000. the manufacturer was not notified. the current and failure mileages were approximately 85,000.

 Dt: the contact stated the emergency brake locked. the vehicle was taken to a dealership, and they explained to the contact that this was a result to water getting into the rear drum and freezing. on december 21, 2004 the emergency brake was repaired under warranty. the problem recurred. *ak updated 01/25/06. *jb
