Ac unit failed on this because of the lines going to the rear ac unit corroded through. i have read several posts and see there was a tsb sent out regarding this. contacted the dealer and they said there is no recall. this really surprises me with so many issues on this. *tr

The first time, about a half mile after a fill-up while making a right hand turn, the engine died. re-started without any other problems. most of the time when this has happened is when making a turn but there has been times when stopped in traffic, the engine dies. has always re-started. there has never been a failure if the tank is re-fueled to approximately 7/8 full.

All failures progressed in sequence over a period of time. door locks failed to lock and or unlock intermittantly using power controls. instrument panel lights and gages would flicker and pulse on and off, at times just off at night for different periods of time, usually minutes. headlights would flicker between brights and dims or on and off. radio lights flicker on or off. instrument panel indicators light up for minutes at a time and then shut off with apparently nothing wrong. seat belt audible alarm sounds on occasion when driving for no apparent reason. cooling fan turns on hours after parking and can only be shut off by removing fuse or draining battery. engine stalls at high speed abruptly, and turns back on. transmission disengages and then re-engages after a few seconds. occasionally the ignition switch will not provide power to the starter until after a few attempts and a few minutes.

My wife was driving to work when the van stalled out. she said she lost all power and almost got rear ended. i read where the 2008 and 2009 were recalled for the same thing. i took the van to a mechanic they could not get any codes. i fear for my family's safety. the mechanic said it was most likely the check valve that is built into the gas tank but not for sure. i read were two people died in the 08 and 09 and i don't wont this to happen to our family. thank you

At 27,000 miles the a/c on my chrysler town and country failed - leak in rear evaportor core. the system will hold no refrigerant at all. the dealer, white plains chrysler, 70 westchester ave., white plains, ny. cannot get this part as it is on back order and will not be available for one month at least. there are several other of the same vehicles at the same dealership awaiting this part. this seems an unreasonable situation and one the manufacturer should address. the only explanation from the manufacturer was that this is a popular car! it looks like an extraordinary number of defects in this part as i research it on the internet. that this part will not be available until the summer is over is unreasonable. we are a retired couple and my husband has congestive heart failure and could not in any way be subject to the temperatures inside this vehicle. we are thus without transportation. we are trapped in our home for the entire summer. why can't the manufacturer make this part available to the dealer in a more timely manner? *tr

1-reported vibration in steering wheel between 20-50 mph [2-possible exhaust leak, i was getting sleepy after 20-30 min drive time, i use recycle mode on a/c due to having asthma [ 3-reported noise from the muffler/exhaust area[4- a/c compressor makes a laboring noise [5-vibration and a growling noise in rear suspension, axle or transmission[6-transmission seems to slip or jerk into and out of gear between 15-45 mph. service department could not duplicate any of my concerns but by the same token my mileage out was the same as my mileage in so i'm not sure it was even driven. three[3] days later i came in and ask for someone to drive with me and the technician was able to hear the noise before we had gone a mile, at that time he thought is was just a loose spare tire but when i came back that afternoon i was told it was the catalytic converter but there was not one in town and as soon as it came in it would be repaired. it was supposedly order on thursday jan 19,2006 and received on jan 26,2006. catalytic converter was replaced on jan 27,2006 as well as exhaust manifold gasket. [7-on this date i also reported on jan 26,2006, when i was braking to slow down to turn right the car engine surged forward and almost lost control of car-nothing was listed on the service copy as cause or what was tested for the engine surging when braking.[8-rear brakes have crystallized and need to be replaced at my cost. am getting other prices at this time. *nm

While driving the van it began surging, as if a fuel line problem, and then would die and each event the power steering would fail. i had to park the vehicle in a hospital parking lot and get it towed in morning. when attempting to start the vehicle, it made a very loud clank noise as if a rod broke. result is a $5000.00 engine replacement due to a faulty computer which sent erratic signals to cam sensor. vehicle has 120,000 miles....all commuting at gentle speeds (we have averaged 23-25 mpg so it is obvious we drive sensibly). we have been religious about service.....and can prove it. i have owned chrysler products since 1966 and this is the last! *tr

Vibration and in brake petal and/ or steering wheel. when turning sharply to left makes a grinding noise also has a bumping feeling like something is loose. service department checked and had warped rotors and needed front disk brakes for the vibration, the grinding and the bumping noise was loose suspension sway links front brakes were replaced and rotors were resurfaced- i had to pay for the brake and rotor repair; the suspension loose sway bar links were replace listed was replaced front sway bar link and a link-sway eliminator. driver seat feels like it has lost its cushion sometimes feels like there is a hard knot of something in the tail bone area of the anatomy. the a/c vents are unable to adjust for cooling the front and side windows. the floor vents do not line up with the openings in the floor console causing any air to be moved toward the front and under the dash. was told the seat and a/c was all in normal operation. *nm

The 2005 chrysler town and country stalls when we fill it up with gasoline. we had the valve replaced and all the codes cleared. it continues to stall on us. we have had two close accidents with other vehicles including a school bus passing by when the car stalls randomly. my husband has taken our van to the repair shop multiple times and no codes come up. this is a very serious issue because there is no reason for the van to just stall randomly. no death or injury but why does that have to be the case for someone to be done about this issue.

Almost every time after we fill up the gas tank of our 2005 town & country, the engine runs rough when we exit the station and many times dies entirely. engine restarts almost immediately and it doesn't happen any other time. even after tune-up, throttle body cleaning and new spark plugs, condition continues. *tr

Upon hearing a noise coming from the engine of our 2005 town and country we took the van to our independent mechanic. he found the noise was caused by a broken alternator mount. he did not complete any repairs but stated we should contact chrysler since this was a manufacturer defect in the part. when i contacted chrysler i was told i had to take it to an authorized dealer to have them look at it and then the dealership would have to call them back. i did that and the shop manager, jim, took an approximately 15 second look at the broken part, shut the hood, took my number and asked why chrysler said he had to call. i told him that was what i had been told and he said he would get back with me. i called him the next day and he said he had a call in to his district manager who had the authority to authorize repairs. when jim called back he stated that the district manager would not repair the broken part based on the number of miles on the van (83,000.) jim also stated that he had never seen this happen before and had no idea what could have caused the mount to break. he agreed that even if the van had 200,000 miles on it he would not expect to see the broken mount. i asked what other recourse i had and he stated i would have to call the 1-800 chrysler number. i then called that number and spoke with steve who took a report ( which i requested to have filed.) he then transferred me to cheryl who read the report and then called the dealership and spoke with jim. when she returned to me she stated they would not do the repair based on the number of miles and the fact that i did not exclusively use the dealership for routine maintenance. she said that since i did not show loyalty to the dealership and the brand then they were not willing cover the repair. no one ever denied that the product was defective. *tr

While driving the car at night, without any warning, the engine began rattling. after having it towed to a local dealership, i was told the 7 year/70000 mile powertrain warranty would not be honored unless i can prove the vehicle was properly maintained. the car requires a new engine, which the estimated to be $8000. the car is 3.5 years old with 29,000 miles and had regular oil changes. chrysler still refuses to honor the warranty. *tr

Complete failure of vehicle safety systems while vehicle in motion time: about 3:45 pm place: long meadow elementary school in rochester hills, mi 48309 vehicle: 2005 town & country - vin 2c4gp54l15r281234 mileage 11,700 1. after arriving in the school parking lot, my wife slowed down to take a turn to park in a spot. 2. the vehicle completely stalled and stopped. 3. she turned off the ignition and then restarted the engine. the engine started. 4. she tried to turn and park at the same spot on left side. the steering did not respond and vehicle kept moving in straight direction. 5. she tried to stop the vehicle by applying the brakes repeatedly with no response. 6. she also tried to steer vehicle towards empty space with no result. 7. she put the transmission in parking; it made some loud noise but did not stop the vehicle. 8. there was a steel gate right in front about 40-50 yards from where she started. the vehicle crashed in the gate and stopped. no one was injured. there was damage to the steel gate and the vehicle. 9. i arrived at the place about 15-20 minutes later. i was able to start the engine but did not try to move/reverse it. 10. school authorities informed the police about the incident. 11. around 5 p.m. the vehicle was towed to body shop of golling chrysler jeep in bloomfield hills, michigan 12. next morning (march 10th), ms sheila from golling chrysler body shop called me . as per her, the fuel pump of the vehicle has problems and that explains the problem with braking and steering system. she was not able to explain how the engine restarted after stalling and vehicle moved if the fuel pump was broken. she also indicated the vehicle did not start at dealership. there was roughly about $2,000 dollar of body damage. 13. chrysler has initiated an internal special investigation. i have received no results of investigation or any help for the hardship being faced. *jb

I started hearing a whinning noise coming from the hood of the van a couple of months ago. the noise was worse when the weather was colder and then the engine light came on. took it in and discovered that the powersteering fluid had leaked out and the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. the reason the engine light came on wasn't because of the powersteering but because the egr valve needed to be replaced as well as the brakes (front/back) needed replacing. just had them replaced not that long ago. $2300.00 later. drive away, 1 week later engine light comes on again, now i have an engine oil leak and the emissions exhaust system is faulty. i only have 55,000 miles on this vehicle and it is less than 4 years old, i would expect this from an older car. i have a family of 6 to worry about their safety and i am not very confident in this product that chrysler has produced. it is a shame that they are not willing to step up to the plate and admit their faults. they have lost me as a future customer as well as my family and friends. in today's economy, our hard earned money on a teacher's salary is quickly going down the drain with this vehicle. are they waiting for a death to actually occur before they start to honor a recall? i wouldn't have known about this forum if it wasn't for consumer reports. how many chrsyler consumers are out there who don't know where to look and find out that they have a faulty vehicle, that they really aren't down on their luck. you can be sure, that every chrysler owner i come across, i will definitely share this information with. *tr
