The parking brake pull off spring on the right rear wheel snapped in half. this caused the parking brake to remain engaged even after it was disengaged by the driver from the driver's seat. the right rear brake assembly (caliper, rotor, disc pads) overheated. driver noticed loud clicking noise coming from right rear wheel after completing short trip. the noise apparently was from the expansion/contraction of the very hot metal dust cover around the brake assembly. spouse found broken spring hanging from right rear parking brake assembly and installed temporary spring until new part came in the next day. mopar part# 68039257aa (spring-parking brake). spouse ordered second new spring figuring same thing might happen to left rear brake. on backorder. chrysler town & country limited with 4.0l v-6 and towing package. owner still has old spring in possession.

Burning rubber smell around the rear brake area. took it in to the dealer immediately and they determined 2 problems. the caliper d's were bad which was covered under warranty and the brakes were bad and had to be replaced. this is approximately our tenth chrysler van we have leased and never have we had to replace the brakes.

The vehicle appears to be stalling while in motion. the steering wheel, brakes, and gas pedal all lock up leaving the driver unable to control the vehicle in any way. this has happened on at least 10 occasions. the local chrysler dealership attempted to fix the vehicle, but was unable. corporate was notified and sent out a corporate mechanic who was also unable to fix the vehicle. the vehicle has locked three additional times (since the last attempted repair) and both the dealership (who is now refusing to service the vehicle) and corporate (who have not returned calls or emails) have been notified. after conducting an internet search i see that this is not an isolated issue--it has been reported multiple times to the nhtsa as well as on other websites. this is a dangerous and defective vehicle. chrysler has been notified of this defect on multiple occasions and is not doing enough to protect the safety of its consumers. *tr

Our 2010 chrysler town & country has given us nothing but trouble since it was 3 months old. the transmission shutters in reverse (dealer says normal). transmission failed while on vacation. would not downshift or upshift properly. transmission replaced (dealer lied and said it was aminor repair and was rebuilt, chrysler zone office said it was a major failure and had been replaced). new transmission has surge/bump shift from 2nd-3rd gear. dealer and chrysler engineer said normal but reflashed the computer. the brakes have been worse... and an ongoing issue. at 3500 miles, they started to make a metal on metal grinding type of noise. i lived with it until the second oil change at around 6000 miles. front pads were replaced, rotors were turned. 3000 miles later, the noise came back. brakes were replaced again -- this time front and rear. dealer and chrysler accepted no responsibility, yet said they were replaced for customer satisfaction. every 3000 miles since, the grinding noise returned and the brakes were replaced. the latest time, the dealer did not replace and said, again, that the grinding noise was normal. said pads had 90% left and were not worn enough to warrant replacement. so i will go back in a couple thousand miles to have them done again? this is a safety issue. chrysler has given me an extended warranty (that does not cover the brakes) and also offered me $5000 on a new car... but this thing has tanked in value so much, i am far more than $5000 upside down in it. all of these things (and loose door hinge bolts, squeaks, rattles, etc) have been described as normal, yet i have been told that they are only fixing these items to make me happy. nobody will admit to the fact that there is something very wrong with this car.

Took vehicle to the dealer for crunching noise while braking which was coming from the front of the vehicle and because the steering wheel was shaking & the brake pedal was pulsating during braking. dealer was unable to find anything wrong with the front & said that the rear brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. this was at approximately 19,600 miles and supposedly not covered under any of the warranties that we have and we have them all. this doesn't seem right at all. i've never had a car which needed rotors to be replace within the first 2 years of ownership. this seems like a quality issue.

Rear brake pads worn and rear rotors found to be out of round.chrysler extended warranty on front brakes to 3 years or 36,000 miles. my front brake pads and rotors were replaced at 17,843 miles by chrysler for a $50.00 doller deductible, but was told about rear brake problem also. my question is, most of the braking is done by the front brakes i think the rear brakes were compromised due to front brake failure. i was charged for rear rotors to be resurfaced and pads replaced. i think when this occurs at the same milage, chrysler should make good for both front and rear brakes.

My van vibrates when i press on my brakes if i am going over 25 mph. took my van in for service oct. 13 dealership told me my rotors were bad this was at 20,000 + miles and they needed to be turned. then approx. nov 15 we received a letter from chrysler about the brakes and rotors being defective and we had an extension on the warranty, but had to pay a $50 ded. i took the van in on november 16 and the pads and rotors replaced. my van still vibrated after this. today november 25 we took the van back to the dealership and they replaced the rotors again and said there is still a vibration but it seems to be coming from the rear. it does feel a less intense and not as bad in the steering wheel. they wanted for us to pay to have the rotors turned on the back. i believe there is an issues with the rotors all around on this vehicle. i am not about to pay as much for this van as we did and at the mileage we have on it which is just at 22000 today have to pay to do a thing with the brakes we already paid $50 deductible for for bad rotors once. i believe in supporting american companies but i am ready to trade this one in for a honda or toyota.

I have just read way too many identical complaiints. i bought the high end model and at 17000 or possibly before we noticed the brakes would pulsate at even low miles especially after the vehicle would be driven a while. i took it into the dealership where they informed me the same as everyone else that the front rotars were warped and needed replaced or turned. they were only covered for 12k miles...and would not cover. this vehicle goes no where...i have a stay at home wife who might put 15-20 miles a day on average on this vehicle. i took it in an had the rotars turned and new pads put on....the brakes acted up the same day i picked up the van. really ..... a 40k van and the braking system has major issues. how is this problem not beeing recalled!!

2010 chrysler town & country - at 14,000 miles (11 months), i needed to have both the front and rear rotors turned due to excessive vibration during braking. since this was outside the 12 month/12,000 mile free adjustments period, it cost me $295 at my local chrysler dealer. considering the number of complaints i see logged against current chrysler/dodge minivans since 2008 for warped rotors and excessive brake wear, it think it is reasonably obvious that the brakes are undersized for the vehicles and should be investigated by the government.

Brakes started shuddering at 7,550. took to dealership. verified concern, found front brake rotors warped. runout on left front rotor and right front rotor. problem persisted. removed and replaced front brake rotors. we replaced the front rotors (dealership would not cover). vehicle back to dealership at 19,012 miles, brakes shuddering again. rear rotors warped (dealership would not cover), we replaced rear rotors. brake shudder again at 24,806, returned once again to dealership. acknowledged pulsation. nothing done. we kept the 2nd set of rotors from the front. will continue to keep parts. we have a small child that rides in the car daily. extremely concerned regarding safety.

Faulty brakes at low vehicle mileage. applying brakes at highway speeds results in excessive vehicle shudder probably due to warped rotors. this in turn results in higher than normal stopping distances. my family and i have 5 chrysler group vehicles, 2008 thru 2010, all with the same problem, some with mileage as low as 5000 miles. my chrysler minivan currently has about 10000 miles. the dealer said they would normally fix it under warranty, but since it has been in service for more than 12 months, they can't/won't do anything about it. brakes are only covered for 12mo or 12000 miles. in my opinion this is a product deficiency and, more importantly, a safety defect that chrysler has had on various models for a number of model years. these vehicles should be recalled.

I purchased a used 2010 chrysler town and country mini-van in may of 2011. during the test-drive, i noted a pulsating in the brakes and, as a condition of sale, asked that the brakes be repaired. according to the dealership, the brake pads were replaced, and the rotors were turned. upon delivery of the vehicle, i found the brakes to be operating without the pulsating. however, after the purchase, i found the pulsating to continue to occur at highway speeds, and the vehicle was returned to the dealership again for repair. i was told that there was a recall for the rotors, and that the rotor had been replaced. once again, i left the dealership, noting smooth brake operation. after approximately 2 weeks, i began to notice the pulsating once again at highway-speed braking. on saturday, july 9th, i was driving on a rural highway. while on the highway, i suddenly began to hear a rubbing noise, accentuated by a rhythmic knocking sound. i reduced speed by letting off the accelerator and continued to listen to the noise, trying to determine exactly where it was coming from. i next heard the sound of something rebounding off the undercarriage, and made the decision to stop. upon applying the brakes, i was met with extreme shuddering/pulsating from the brakes as i pulled to the shoulder. as i increased pressure on the brake pedal, a grinding noise commenced from the front right area, and shortly after the vehicle came to a forced stop, as though the wheels had locked up. on inspecition, it appeared the right front brake caliper had broke loose, sheered away some of the metal from inner portion of the rim, and then lodged itself against the rim, forcing the wheel to lock in place. we were very fortunate that, at the time, we were on a rural highway and had time to reduce speed before forcfully braking. had this occurred at a higher speed, in heavier traffic, i fear the outcome may have been drastically different. my infant son was in the van at the time.

I have a 2010 town and country. steering wheel started to vibrate around 29,000 miles. told i needed new rotors and brake pads. chrysler has been using faulty rotors for the last 3 models and needs to recall vans. inexcusable that i should have to pay for new brakes with a car that is only 1 1/2 years old.

While traveling at highway speeds, an emergency stop is necessary but when brakes are applied, a loud rumbling noise is heard from the front of the vehicles, the brake pedal goes down almost to the floorboard and vehicles fails to stop. this only occurs at highway speeds, and in emergency stopping situations. it has happened approximately 18 times since august, 2010. dealer's technician says is is normal in 2010 chrysler vehicles.

Brakes start shuddering at 8,000 miles, rear rotors turned at 12,000 miles, no help, different dealer all new rotors and pads at 16,000 miles, everything good, brakes shuddering again at 23,000 miles, told wheels out of balance - wheels weren't out of balance, still shuddering, back at dealer again - they don't think it's the brakes - they are full of bull!
