I don't know any events led to the failures. the van is used for family transportation by my wife. its use is limited to roughly 12,000 miles of paved road driving per year. something electrical is wrong. one day it won't start, the next day it starts but all the lights are on, the next day the airbag light is on, the next day the speedometer/tachometer/clock/temperature/fuel guages don't work. there is no rhyme or reason to what works and when something will fail. it is in a chrysler dealership now for service. they are uncertain, but say it is most likely the integrated power module. they also say only a dealer can replace and reprogram the module. i will be certain to save the old parts.

2008 chrysler town and country electrical problems 5th time this has happened. horn honking continuously, wiper and fluid going off even when turned off, lights flashing on and off. very unsafe the dealer and chrysler said they could not do anything. i had to remove fuses so the horn would not go off which cleared the codes but i can't drive around the car? this is a big safety issue. the dealer actually said to try and come in with the horn honking like that!!! crazy

In july 2010 this incident first occurred where driving with my 3 children in the car at appx. 5-10mph and approaching a stop sign the car stalled. i had no power steering or powerbrakes. the only light lit on the dashboard is the anti-lock bracking system. i brought the car to a stop and it immediately restarted. in the fall of 2010 the same incident occurred 2-3 times and always under the same conditions while driving slowly appx. 10mph and approaching an intersection or stop sign. i brought these incidents to the attention of chrysler who said that they could find nothing wrong. in jan./feb. 2011 the stalling began to occur more frequently appx 3-4 and again under the same conditions;while driving slowly and approaching stop sign/driveway etc. chrsyler again could find nothing. in march 2011 the car stalled while driving on a major road appx. 35 mph and in the middle of a curve. i was able to control car and move to the side of the road and immediately it restarted. chrysler dealership states at this point that possibly it is my key chain that is too heavy for the keyless component.(i have 1 key on it) i remove key and remain incident free for appx. 6 - 8 weeks until today. my 15 year old son who is a permit driver had the incident occur while going down hill at appx. 15 mph. with him behind the wheel and me in the driver seat. we were able to finally stop the car and with me behind the wheel now we restarted the car! this is a serious problem.

4th time this has happened. i was driving down highway at 65mph when my 2008 chrysler town and country minivan began causing a saftey issue. the car horn was blasting continously, the windshield wipers were moving back and forth and the electronic system was going on and off. i had the electronic component replaced but this is still happening. not sure why there is no recall on this issue very unsafe and dangerous as i was driving with my 2 children 3 year old and 1 year old.

In normal neigborhood driving, all dashboard warning lights lit up at the same time, the windshield wipers turned on, the speedometer and tachometer went to zero even though the engine was still running, and most disturbingly, my electric drivers side seat started moving forward and backward while i was attempting to turn and break. it almost caused an accident, but i was lucky. the system reset itself, and the same thing happened again, and again. it was too dangerous to drive. the vehicle was transported to the dealership who said it was a frayed and chaffing electrical harness. i had to replace it, even though they said there was nothing that i could have done to avoid the situation. i asked if there was anything i should do differently, and they said no it wasn't my fault. i asked if they should be inspecting anything else to make sure it doesn't happen again and they said that was a one time occurrence in the life of the car. i only have 39,000 miles on my van, and this was a very scary situation. if a less experienced driver was in the van, it could have caused a severe problem. when the driver seat started moving back and forth while i was driving and trying to break, it was disconcerting!

We have had multiple electrical problems with the vehicle since we have had it. most have been related to the sliding doors not completely shutting and reopening as if there was something in the way. the dealer can not findd anything wrong with the door sensors. the most recent issues have been much worse. one time while driving down the road, all of the dashboard lights started flashing, the key in the ignotion alarm started beeping (while driving with the key in), the radio went to 12:00 then reset it back to the correct time. this lasted about 3 minutes, then it was all done and working fine. 3 times that we had stopped at traffic lights the car just stalled. but it was able to restart right away. one time the car would not start up at all for a few minutes, then it started on the fifth try. just yesterday, we had to have the van towed, my wife was driving, she stopped at a light and the car stalled but it would not do anything at all. the doors did not unlock, thankfully hers was still unlocked. the hazards would not work, all the interior lights would not turn on. we had it towed the the dealer, where it did eventually start. the dealer replaced a module for the electronic key 1 week ago, but the issues have occurred still.

I was driving my 2008 chrysler town and country minivan down the highway when the horn went off continously, the windshield wipers front and back were spraying fluid and going back and forth. the instrument panel was blink on and off. i could not see because of the windshield wipers and the instrument panel was going off and on. i was with my wife and two small children, 3 yrs old and 15 months going down a major interstate. i have to pull over in the highway and remove the fuse for the horn because no matter what i did the horn would not turn off. very scary lucky i was driving and not my wife.

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 chrysler town and country. while driving 60 mph the headlights started flickering and all the warning lights came on causing the vehicle to stall in the middle of the road. the vehicle restarted immediately but the instrument panel went blank. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated they will run a diagnostic test to find the failure and he has to pay the cost of the test. they are not sure if they can duplicate the failute. the manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 50,646.-mw

The problem started with the windshield wipers doing a few cycles occassionally when making a right turn. we could be driving down the freeway or start from a stop sign. it progressed until many systems:speedometer, and other gauges shut down and come back on, the warning chime sounds. the dealer in elkgrove dogde had on of its service people drive it home and had multiple failures. they have had the car for over a month and have still not found the problem. after reading the other complaints and connecting a few dots, i wonder if there is not a computer processing/programing problem causing these multiple electrical problems. especially after the dealer said there were multiple failures on their diagnostic report, ie multiple module problems and other indicated failures.

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 chrysler town and country. while driving approximately 60 mph the vehicle lost coolant fluid, water and the brakes failed. he coasted to the side of the road and called a tow company. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. the dealer was unable to locate the failure. the vehicle was taken to another dealer and this dealer replaced the front brake rotors and pads. one month later the contact experienced the failure again. the contact stated the brake pad and rotors has been replaced three times on the vehicle. the contact stated that both sliding doors get jammed and he has to removed the battery cable to restart the computer for the doors to close properly. the contact stated that the dealer did some repairs to the stereo system and caused damage to the the speakers and stereo dashboard. he stated the speaker were hanging off the mount. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure mileage was 19,000 and the current mileage was 53,000. vwb

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 chrysler town and country. the contact stated that while driving at 55 mph both of the side door panels opened. the contact pulled over and closed the doors and took it to the dealer where they stated they repaired the doors. the doors flew open again after the repairs. the contact also stated she heard a grinding noise while driving into the dealership where the transmission fell out of the vehicle onto the ground. the air conditioner has also failed twice and the front brake shoes also fell off of the pads. the air conditioner and brake pads were functioning at the time of the complaint. chrysler was contacted about pursuing the lemon law and chrysler stated the issues the owner has experienced do not warrant the lemon law. the contact states the transmission still knocks and the doors still open on their own on occasion. the contact does not feel safe in the vehicle. the failure mileage was approximately 10,000. the current mileage was 20,000. rd
