PARKING BRAKE

I have already filed a complaint with reference to the recurring brake problem on this vehicle (complaint #10300223). this week the brakes are again making noises and vibrating specially in the highway. this will be the third time we experience it, they already repaired, replaced and rebuilt the front and rear brakes twice. i am concern about the safety of my family. at this point, i want to recur to the california lemon law but chrysler is not helping me. i beg you help me with this issue please. i do all the required maintenance at the chrysler dealership. we also experience a steering fluid hose failure, not under warranty at the same time, cost $250. also we needed to replace the rubber cover for the parking brake so your foot don't slip, they said they don't sale that part, we had to buy the whole parking brake lever, another $200. this is an abuse to the consumer.  Tl*the contact owns a 2008 chrysler town and country. while driving 45 mph she heard a humming noise; however, when she put her foot on the brake pedal she heard the noise again. she stopped to check the vehicle and found that the left rear tire was smoking. she allowed the brakes to cool down. the dealer stated that the vehicle needed new brake pads, rotors, and calipers and confirmed that the warranty only covered the caliper. the brake pads, rotors, and calipers were replaced. the repair cost was $615.00. a report 19213709 was filed with the manufacturer. the manufacturer believes that she left the emergency brake on and that caused the rear brakes to fail. the vehicle has exceeded the 12,000 mile warranty; therefore her request for reimbursement was denied. the failure mileage was 31,000 and the current mileage 36,000.

Purchased a 2008 chrysler town and country touring brand new in may 2008. within the first 12,000 miles we've had multiple problems with this van. as far as the safety problems specifically, the brake system has been a nightmare. the parking brake cable snapped in two and became dangerous when i couldn't park on a hill without it. this was fixed under warranty through the dealership. the next safety related issue was that the brakes on the van started to squeal and were quickly metal on metal. i brought the van into our local tire place to have a regular brake job done and was told that the rotors and pads were completely shot and cost over $300 to have replaced. the manager said i was one of 12 other customers in the last few months with 2008 dodge/chrysler minivans having this problem. he said that he spoke with someone from chrysler to see about having this repair covered under warranty and said that the person at chrysler that he spoke with casually mentioned that of course this happened, they used cheap parts on these vans. i still have the original rotors and pads if anyone needs them for investigation. an entire chunk of metal had chipped off of one rotor!! the tech. at the repair shop said they were the cheapest made things they've seen on a new vehicle. no vehicle driven under normal, carpooling circumstances should ever have rotors and pads wear out at 12,000 miles. i would like to see this looked into as to why this is happening with this year van through this make. thanks. *tr
