| Defect Summary | On certain rear diesel motor homes containing a 50 amp transfer switch built by intellitec, the material used for the wire lugs was changed from nickel plated to copper lugs. the copper lugs are softer than the nickel plated and do not retain the torque of the screw that clamps the wire connector. | |||||||||||||||
| Consequence Summary | When the torque is relaxed, the lugs can become loose resulting in excessive heat within the connected wire that could result in a fire. | |||||||||||||||

| Defect Summary | Coachmen is recalling 13,662 my 2002-2008 motor homes, fifth wheel and travel trailers equipped with glass shower doors and manufactured from june 15, 2001 thorugh august 6, 2007. when pressure is applied to the towel bar on the glass shower door, the edge of the bar may contact the glass. | |||||||||||||||

| Defect Summary | Coachmen is recalling 37,293 motorhomes and fifth wheel travel trailers equipped with a two-door refrigerator manufactured by the dometic corporation. the refrigerator may have a defect in the boiler tube. pressurized coolant solution could be released into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present. | |||||||||||||||

| Defect Summary | Coachmen is recalling 961 my 2005-2007 cross country, sportscoach elite, my 2005-2006 cross country se, and my 2006 sportscoach encore class a motor homes built using inline power steering filters, part no. 14-16829-000. the filter can plug due to failure of the screen adhesion to the filter housing causing a rise in return line pressure. this can lead to hose separation from the filter or steering gear fitting resulting in a sudden loss of steering fluid and power assist. | |||||||||||||||

| Dt: consumer states that the owners were traveling down the highway and the motor home would die. there was no power steering with no caution or tail lights. this happened at night when it was hard to see anything. the owner feared for their lives because no other vehicles could see them at night. the owners were traveling at 60-65 mph when this happened. the problem happened about 30 times that night. the vehicle would not start back after this happened. the vehicle was hard to get back into neutral; with no electric the owner was not able to get the motor home into neutral easily. there were wires and cables loose. the owners have taken motor home to certified cummings motor repair shop. the repair facility told the owners that they found a 434 code, which means the vehicle lost power while running and data erratic and intermittent, found loose wiring in compartment at rear, tightened net wiring. the dealership found one plug in not plugged all the way in to the ecu. the vehicle is still under warranty. the dealership informed the owner that this was not their responsibility. the dealership only deals with the coach part. the owner has talked to the manufacturer coachman and they said it was not their responsibility that is was freightliners responsibility. this is on a freightliner chassis. *nm while driving in heavy rain the nut that holds the windshield wiper on fell off and caused the driver's side windshield wiper to fall off. the windshiled became chipped as a result (coach vin - 1tca0847551709166). *nm | |||
