Defect SummaryOn certain motor homes built on workhorse chassis and equipped with gm 8.1l v8 engines, improper hardening during the heat treatment process can cause the fuel rail pulse damper retainer clip to fracture, resulting in inadequate retention of the damper. if the damper becomes loose, fuel could be pumped by the fuel pump into the under hood area.
Consequence SummaryIn the presence of an ignition source, a fire could result.
Corrective SummaryWorkhorse is handling the owner notification and remedy for this campaign (please see 06v225). dealers will replace the fuel rail pulse damper retainer clips on these engines free of charge. owners may contact workhorse at 877-294-6773 or coachman at 219-825-8528.

Defect SummaryCoachmen is recalling 37,293 motorhomes and fifth wheel travel trailers equipped with a two-door refrigerator manufactured by the dometic corporation. the refrigerator may have a defect in the boiler tube. pressurized coolant solution could be released into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present.
Consequence SummaryExtended operation of a leaking cooling unit could lead to a fire from gas which might escape.
Corrective SummaryCoachmen is working with dometic in order to repair these refrigerators (please see 08e032). dometic will repair these refrigerators by installing a secondary burn housing, a thermal fuse, and a melt fuse free of charge. dometic has retained stericycle inc. to manage this campaign. stericycle will assist the owner in locating dealerships or service centers and will provide assistance with scheduling of appointments. owners may contact dometic/stericycle at 1-888-446-5157 or coachmen at 574-825-5821.

Defect SummaryCoachmen is recalling 2,555 my 2000-2009 georgie boy and coachmen recreational trailers equipped with axles that include bosch zops or zoht pin slide hydraulic disc brakes. when combined with occasional or seasonal vehicle operation may experience calipers sticking in the applied position. this can result in abnormal heat generation at the wheel end causing brake drag. the driver would normally have warning of the brake drag if undetected by the driver.
Consequence SummaryThe driver would normally detect the brake drag but if undetected the temperature increase at the wheel end can eventually lead to soft pedal conditions due to brake fluid boil, and possible extended stopping distance increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect and replace the necessary components free of charge. workhorse is handling the remedy for this campaign please see 09v-110. the manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. owners may contact workhorse at 1-877-246-7731 or coachmen at 1-574-266-4030, option 5.

The spare tire fell out from under the motor home onto an interstate highway twice. the first time the cable which supported the bracket snapped and the second time the bracket bent out of shape both due to the weight of the tire. if someone were behind me, they would have been severely injured or killed due to the tire being thrown out from under the motor home. the dealer even has admitted to me that the setup is insufficient to support the weight of the spare tire. if you were legally towing another car behind your motorhome the accident resulting from this would have been catastrophic. the dealer is researching an alternate method of supporting the tire. contacts to coachmen were that the design was acceptable and within standards. *jb
STRUCTURE - BODY

We bought a brand new coachmen motor home / we were on a maintained dirt road driving in reverse. suddenly we heard a cracking sound and the front cap separated from the body . we called the manufacturer who advise us to call our insurance company which we did on saturday morning 11-11-06..our son picked us up and we returned the next morning 11-11-06. there was no debris or any object in the road, their was nothing under the motor home. we examined the motor home and found many of the fasteners, rivets or screws that hold the front cap to the body were missing. when we picked up the motor home and inspected it at the dealer we noted that the drivers side where the front cap meets body was separating at the bottom. the technician advised my wife that they might have to remove the front cap to correct this problem. coachmen has stated that we ran over something that forced the body and front cap to separate. we did not run over anything, their was nothing in the roadway, their was nothing under the coach , their was nothing caught under the coach. we feel that possibly something happened in route from the plant in indiana to calfornia and this might have weakened the structure and coupled with the body missing fasteners which should hold it together caused the failure. the coach is now at coachmen in chino, california. the phone number in chino is 909 628 5755. they refuse to repair unless our insurance company pays for the repair. the customer service rep told my wife we have 48 hours to tow the motor home off the property or they will start charging storage. i drove the motor home to coachmen in chino, ca. they disassembled the front cap from the body without our approval or authorization and now expect us to pay for towing or storage if we don't authorize our insurance company to make the repairs. please help. *jb
