STEERING - GEAR BOX - SHAFT SECTOR

This defect concerns all late model coleman/fleetwood niagara folding campers. the camper is poorly balanced. the unit weighs approximately 2700 pounds, dry. tongue weight is approximately 185 pounds. this is not withen the current recommended tongue weight of 10 to 20 percent of the weight of the trailer. most vehicles have difficulty towing the trailer at highway speeds of 65 mph. at that speed the trailer begins to fishtail violently. an anti-sway bar cures the problem. my local coleman/fleetwood dealer reports that due to the towing hazard, new owners are required to sign a waiver releasing the dealership from responsibility if the new owner elects not to install an anti-sway bar. the dealership also reports of at least one tow vehicle overturning due to the fishtailing problem. i am requesting that the nhtsa test tow the niagara without an anti-sway bar and confirm the fishtail problem. *ak
