Received a recall notice on my car a daewoo leganza 01, back in july, called the local service provider given, regal in lakeland, they told me quickly and rudely that these parts were not available, call back in a few weeks, called back aug 3, and spoke with mike, which again said the parts still are not in keep calling back and checking for parts, then i call today 9-20, to see if parts are in, the guy said that the parts had always been in so he wasn't sure why they would have said that, but then he proceeded to tell me that there computers were down and i could call back in a few hours and then they could make me an apt. i have called twice since then and no one answers the phone in service, weird, but having to deal with these rude people is so unkind to anyone who owns a daewoo, and has to trouble these horrible people for any kind of recalls. *nm
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

In september 2004 my 2001 daewoo leganza would not shift out of the park position without putting the key inside the slot on the gearshift panel. i would have to put it in neutral then start the car. the check engine light was on also and would not go off. i took it gerald jones in augusta, ga. i was told i needed two types of sensors, which required the removal of the entire dashboard. they had my car almost a month and when i did get it back it started to act up again. later i found out it was only a fuse kit that was needed and a cam sensor. as a result of my dashboard being removed. the entire dash is coming apart. in passing i have noticed all daewoo leganza in my area has the same problem with the dashboard. i was told i would have to pay for repairs, eventhough they knew it was from their repair work. i'm sure these other people have used gerald jones, because they were the only daewoo dealership in our entire area. i have been trying to get tag numbers and putting out signs to see if infact repair work involving these sensor repair work has caused problems with car owners dashboards. is there a problem with the dashboards, yes! is there a problem with the cam sensor, yes! i had it replaced twice and the check engine light is still on. the car really and truly is a wonderful car. i want my car to be safe. the cam sensor issue is not safe and the dashboard issue isn't either. i'm sure this affects the airbag system. maybe there should be a recall on these dashboards. if you have more than twenty daewoos with this defect, it worth someone's life to look into this. i worry that my airbags will not operate properly. i have purchased that strip where that defroster is, but i thought i would go this way first. thank you, fnt *tr

Not 2 days after regular scheduled service, the check engine light illuminated on the dashboard in mid 2005. i contact the daewoo dealer that had been the sole provider of service for the car since i purchased it for advise. after better securing the gas cap, i had no problem. the dealer is no longer a daewoo service provider. the same thing seemed to occur intermitently since then. i had a diagnostic checkup i was informed that the camshaft position sensor was the cause of the check engine light. while getting an estimate on an air conditioner repair, a technician mentioned the sensor as a recall item he was aware of as a fellow daewoo owner. i checked my service records and was not clear if the sensor had been checked or replaced. i checked the daewoo and nhtsa web sites and became aware this condition ( referenced as daewoo rsb-001-04/nhtsa campaign id number : 04v357000 for daewoo motor america - not to be confused with nhtsa campaign id number : 04v394000 for daewoo motor de puerto rico) might cause an underhood fire if it was not addressed. i went to a dealer service location identified from the daewoo web site where i was informed the sensor should be replaced but the part number or my vin fell outside the numbers used for no customer charge replacements. i paid to have the car fixed to remove the possibility of fire or other disastrous outcomes. *nm

A couple of days before the incident i bought a car for my daughter when i was driving it the check engine light came on i took it to a parts store and they read it through the obd2 sensor and said it was the camshaft position sensor. i looked it up on the computer and there was a recall for the make and year of my car. i have a 2001 deawoo leganza vin klava69211b312917 so i took it to the dealer on apr 6 2005 when it had 32,831 miles on it and they said that it isn't part of the recall. i tried to contact deawoo and it was impossible due to the fact that they are out of business. i continued to drive it and then my daughter started driving it a couple of weeks ago when she turned the car off she saw smoke coming from under the hood and it was very smoky when she opened up the hood. now we do not drive the car anymore due to the fear that someone can get hurt. i have never heard of a camshaft position sensor going bad under 100,000 miles let alone 33,000 if there was a recall on certain camshaft sensors then shouldn't this one be recalled also if it is faulty. deawoo should widen their search for bad camshaft sensors. *nm
