ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

My 05 ram 1500 has now stalled out twice in the 2 months i have had it. the first time i was stuck in rush hour traffic so i was at a stand still but now this time i was turning into a school and the truck stalled and steering wheel locked...i almost hit 2 teachers because of this...the lights and radio was still on though..this is a major problem that needs attention before someone gets seriously hurt..

My 2005 dodge ram 5.7 hemi engine stalls at random times when slowing for a stop. i see tons of people on car forums with the same problem. this is very dangerous.

2005 dodge ram hemi pickup truck. slowing from 35 mph to take a significant corner when i discover there is no steering to speak of (strongman steering only). i barely make the corner almost hitting a newly renovated church. my next inclination is to pull the truck over and stop and i experience minimal to no brakes with maximum effort. no sensation that it had stalled and no indication on the panel indicator lights. i had the radio of and the fan on low with only road noise and i had no idea the engine had stalled. i've been driving safely for 33 years and this tops the list of freaky incidents and sensations (tops losing a wheel). turned the ignition off and then back on and the truck started like nothing had happened. drove the truck straight to the local garage. i'm concerned about the incident (very dangerous) and the fact that there are so many similar compaints about this situation online that relate to the hemi pickups. this could easily cause major accidents to innocent, unknowing people and families.

I have a 05 dodge ram 1500 with hemi eng. about 6 months ago it starting stalling from time to time. usely when i slow down to stop the eng shut off. it will restart but not normal, i have to push the gas pedal down, its starts up and is ok for days. if i am above 60 mph when it malfuction it will start surging and i shift to nutural and riv the eng up and put it back in drive and its ok again . i am below 60 mph when malfuction occures the eng quits. the tem is always below 50 degrees. took to dodge dealer they charge me 66 dallors to tell me they could not determ the problem . and they would not let me talk to their machanics . if i could talk to them we might could figure out the problem, i suspect it has something to do with the electronic throttle control. *tr

I own a 2005 dodge ram 1500 slt 4x4 5.7l v-8 hemi. this truck and stalling out have become synonymous. within the first six months of owning the truck i notice that whenever i would cold start the truck and put it into gear the rpms would drop and the truck would stall. similarly it would stall out whenever i was coming out of reverse and into drive (after backing up). i took it to the dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a faulty crimp in the spin up transmission filter. they replaced the filter and everything was fine for about a year. the truck started dying on me again only this time the check engine light would come on and off at random intervals (not seemingly related to the truck dying). i took it in and this time they diagnosed a faulty egr valve. apparently is was sticking open and causing the truck to run lean and stall out. they replaced it and what do you know...about a year later (yesterday) i was coming home from work and the truck started shuddering and dying and had no power under acceleration...the check engine light came on and now here it sits in the shop...again for the same problem. three times this truck has actually put my safety in jeopardy by dying in the middle of the road (the second time was in the middle of the highway during rush hour and i nearly avoided a collision). i've done some research and apparently this is a common problem. i have found hundreds of complaints online for this very same problem and have even found people who claim to have gotten into accidents because of this vehicle stalling. dodge cannot determine the cause of this problem and because they cant/wont investigate hard enough they will not issue a recall. how many people have to get into accidents or die because of this problem before it gets elevated to higher attention levels? *tr
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - EXHAUST SYSTEM

I started noticing my truck wanting to lose power when getting to a low cruising speed; approximately 25 - 30mph's. the truck would start to rev up and down, bouncing the rpm's from 900 to about 1600 as if you were tapping the gas pedal. then the next occasion while it was happening, i came to a stop light and the truck completely died/shut off. now its been happening for about a week or so and now when i go to take off from a dead stop, i have to really get on the pedal to make it take off. i took the truck in to see what was wrong with it when the check engine light came on, they reported a 406 error reading: the egr value was not functioning correctly. i went to my local dodge dealership and they told me that they have been having this problem alot with the vehicles coming back...come to find out, that is not covered under any type of warranty. *tr
