| I'm the original owner of one 2001.5 dodge 2500, in 1997 the dash has started to develop cracks, today its in little pieces, i'm afraid to drive the vehicle as the dash might collapse entirely o the wiring causing an electrical fire. i turned to chrysler for help and was told they take no responsibility whatsoever. *tr | |||

| My 2001 dodge ram 2500 has the dash board severely cracking and right in front of the steering wheel at the top there is a big hole where the dash has completely broken out. this concerns me very much and when i asked the dealership about it they said that all of the 2001 models were having issues with the cracking, but offered no resolution to the problem. these trucks are very expensive and even after a few years have passed they hold their value very well, but not with cracked and falling dashes. i am concerned that there will be other problems since the inside of the dash is exposed from the hole. i am a faithful dodge product consumer, but if they won't correct this problem how are we to trust buying anything else. i have had several dodge trucks prior to 2001 and the dashes in those trucks held up perfectly, so there must be a problem with the material used for these particular models. i don't feel like i should have to pay for something to fix or replace this. please help!!! *tr | |||

| 2001 dodge ram 2500 dashboard cracking . tv investigation slot shown on internet. my vehicle has the same problem - purchased new dashboard panel from dodge dealer $200. in the past year have front axle seals, water pump, power steering pump , fuel injection pump and automatic transmission failed. repaired over $ 6400 in expense - the dash problem broke the monkey's back. *ak | |||

| As part of a news report in florida on 2001 dodge ram dashboards i am filing this complaint. i know of 3 people ,not including my self that have these trucks, and all of them are in various stages of failure, from minor cracks in my truck to a dashboard that was completely falling apart in a friend's truck. *ak | |||

| My 2001 dodge ram 2500 quad cab truck has developed substantial damage to the dashboard. there are several cracks reaching from the windshield to the front of the dash. there are also pieces of the dash that have broken loose from the dashboard itself. these range in size from 1-6 inch pieces. i have contacted daimler chrysler as to the problem and have been told they are sorry, but there is nothing they can do. the truck has been out of the manufacturers warranty for 5 years now and the dashboard looks like it has been taken to with a hammer. *jb | |||

| I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500 with the cummins diesel. since the day i drove it off of the lot it has had steering problems. i have had it into the dealer seven times for the same problem and i still have a very dangerous vehicle. i also have numerous other problems with rattles and squeaks that have not been fixed. this truck is definitely a true lemon. the dealer has blamed the problem on tires, steering box, etc., but nothing has fixed the problem. the last statement from the dealer is that this steering problem is inherent to the dodge diesel engines and cannot be fixed. i almost had a head on collision about a month ago and have since parked my truck. i am now driving an older vehicle until i can get this resolved. i will not risk the lives of my family in this truck anymore. i paid $40,000 for a truck i cannot drive.*jb | |||

| While sitting in the vehicle a fire developed under the hood.*ak consumer stated that the rubber moulding that seals the back of the hood at the fire wall had no way to secure it and it slipped off, hanging down on top of the turbo charger and cught fire. *yh | |||

| The dashboard has cracked into many sharp loose pieces. these pieces could fall into the wiring and other componets under the dash or fly into the driver and cause a major problem. this would be a serious problem for occupants of the vehicle and fellow motorist. the fix as far as i can determine is very costly and extensive. the problem stems from faulty materials used in manufacturing and should be a recall item. this is not the only instance of material failure on this model year truck. i have read of many such occurances and hope this will be resolved soon. | |||

| The dashboard sub structure (moulded plastic) on my 2001 dodge ram 2500 has mysteriously begun to crack and come apart. recently the radio almost fell out of the dashboard because the mounting points in the dash have cracked and broken. behind the dash, large pieces of plastic have broken and one began to fray the air bag selector switch wiring. i consider this to be unacceptable. the material chosen for the dashboard was obviously inferior. it will soon be a safety hazard if the dashboard completely fails. *tr | |||
