SUSPENSION

On 9-10-11 i was driving my dodge ram 2500 on the same road as i always do and the steering wheel started shaking viloently and i used up 2 lanes to get it under control. it will stop when the speed is about 45mph. i have replaced all the steering linkages with new. (dodge sells a 2009 upgraded steering system for this truck) installed new trac bar bushings, (orgionals were ok) installed new steering stabalizer, gear box bearing and had it aligned by the local dodge dealer. it is now not drivable as the death wobble is more frequent than ever. i now have a truck i cannot drive or sell and dodge will not listen. i have been driving for 33 years and have never experienced such a violent shaking and loss of control. your my only hope!

We bought an 05 dodge ram 2500. on a trip with a small trailer after hitting a bump the front end started shaking violently. (death wobble) after slowing the truck shaking went away. problem reoccured several times on this trip. on way home no issues. trailer empty. issue reoccured while wife was driving truck to work, no trailer. bumps an potholes seem to set it off at speeds over 55mph. took to dealer they found no issues. put 2 spacer lift on truck with different tires. problem seemed to go away. over the past several years truck drives o.k unless hooked to a traler. last occurance was 10-2-11 on trip to south dakota. problem reoccured 3 times in 5 miles. i made ajustments to equalizer hitch (tightened 1 link) and had no more issues on this trip. this is a major safty issue with these trucks and need to be addressed. web searches show this is a very common problem. it would be nice if dodge would issue a recall and fix this issue.
SUSPENSION - FRONT

'death wobble': severe shaking of the front suspension. happened at speeds over 45 mph, usually after hitting small bumps or irregular road surfaces. several (6-8) episodes over 1 month period. required decrease of speed from highway speeds to less than 30 mph or even full stop to end episode. in one particular episode (8/11/10)was towing up an incline on a two lane highway was forced to slow from 65 mph to 25mph while trying to move onto narrow shoulder to avoid danger with other traffic behind us. despite no noted worn out suspension components (inspected by independant and dealer mechanics, some tie rod wear noted only) repair involved replacing steering components, pitman arm, tie rods & ball joints. dealer retained old parts.

Front left tire wore very unevenly w/ 85k miles. truck vibrates and bounces. replaced all tires. truck still vibrates with new tires and seems to have a self perpetuated bounce - most often occurs at 45 to 65 mph, under light acceleration, while making a long swooping right curve - but happens elsewhere less frequently. certified dodge shop followed tsb and replaced original tie rod (no longer available by itself) with multiple arm damper / tie/ pitman arm parts # 68039930-aa, 52106909-ae, 52122362-ae, 52122370-ab. truck still vibrates and bounces - very unsettling! you definitely feel like you don't have complete control of the truck while it's bouncing. add ice or snow and ????also new damper parts now squeak when body leans - like when i take a hard right at low speeds in a parking lot. returned to shop. they suggested i change differential fluid (never done to date), so we did. made vibrations a little less noticeable, (steering wheel and shift lever don't dance as much) but did not fix the problem. shop said dodge is working on some other kind of fix (tsb) that may pertain to my problem, but they don't know yet because it hasn't been released. something about a sleeve that goes over some existing part. i contacted dodge directly to see if i could find out more information about what the problem and what they are working on to fix it. they wouldn't tell me anything except to maybe try another authorized dodge shop if i wasn't happy with the work they did. this is
