 Every once in awhile my 2005 dodge ram 2500 front end will shake violently and just about cause me to crash while driving a various speeds. i've taken it back to the dealership and they have replaced the steering dampener several times yet it still has the problem. i started researching it on the internet and there is a lot of people complaining about the same exact thing. it is described as the shake of death or death wobble. there is no factory recall for this problem but are options for replacing front end parts for about $500-800 dollars. someone should look into this as people may have died because of it. especially if it happens at a high rate of speed.  2011 dodge avenger: problem: trunk full of water after rain. additional water damages: trunk lid retains water and pours out through latch when open trunk. area of problem: trunk seal? brake light seal? latch? result: excessive water damage to items in trunk.

 I had parked my 2007 dodge charger r/t, and later that night about to leave for work my gear shift was stuck in park. i have tried everything to get it unstuck with no luck. i am very frustrated due to the fact that there was a recall for this issue however my vehicle was not in the time frame for the recall. there have been hundreds of complaints and yet no one has helped us.

 The vehicle is a 2001 dodge ram truck. the dash board has cracked and poses a safety hazard by dangerous sharp pieces. if i was in an accident one of these pieces could inflict potentially severe injury.

 The problems that we are having with our 2009 dodge slt 1500 is 1...the recall on heat and air...dealer fixed! great! 2....yall ready for this! our truck started smoking and stalling out with no power yes smoking out the tail pipe solid white smoke and you couldn't even see the traffic behind you! how embarassing is that....soooo the dealer lead us on for 6 months that they didnt know what was wrong and they where doing this and that and finally they broke down and put...rebuilt heads, brand new short block(is what they said) and everything else was rebuilt or used..and called it a new motor!!! now the problem is even worse then what it was before. we almost got hit by 2 semi's tring to change lanes in traffic heading back from gainesville last weekend because the truck stalled when we slowed down slightly. we tried to pick up speed again and the truck would not go no power! what a peice of crap...the deal said that they have to go to atlanta on our truck alone because they have never heard of anything like it! does anyone else have this problem!!!!!!!!! even after a so called rebuilt motor

 I ordered a 2010 dodge ram 3500 with dual rear wheels. dodge does not install valve stems long enough that i can even check the tire pressure in the tires. i have the chrome wheel package and cannot even see the valve stems to locate them

 I was in an accident. going about 65 miles an hour.. i rear ended someone on the freeway. i had my cruise control at the time.. was a car and a half away. the car ahead of me stopped very suddenly i didn't have time to react when i hit him head on. my air bags did not deploy.

 2008 dodge avenger withautomatic transmission will not move out of park. drove car in morning to work and 8 hours later aafter starting and then depressing the brake pedal to shift the shift lever would not mover from park. bought this car new and it has only 29,000 miles after 2 years of ownership.

 Bought a dodge interpid the engine has been replaced twice it's an 2.7 v.6 .... the car stalls , the light fickers on an off as well as my radio!! my sensor are faulty because it give my car fauly rreading to the wrong errs not only, that i have had build up in both engines grime and broken down pariticals! my speed is off sometime my car picks up speed by it self or it don't gain speed at all! the car also loses power for no reason at all! drain my battery four times! over heat without warning! had my trermastat replace twice!!! to many problem keep ocurring and i can keep up with any of this!! texas dmv told me about this site told me about that these cars are not any good!! please help what do i do with this car?

 2009 dodge grand caravan (stow and go) extreme heat and strong smell of overheated brakes coming mostly from rear brakes. the heat generated in an average 16 mile drive under normal operating conditions causes enough heat and strong brake smell that you can hardly touch the plastic hubcap mounted on the steel wheels. the emergency brake has never been used and has never been activated accidentally. the smell can be noticed all the way around the vehicle from inside and outside particularly in the rear. i am retired ase certified technician with 45 ase certifications and 50 years in the profession. i would suspect residual valve in master cylinder, sticking calipers, or parking brake components. the rear brake sensors have been touching since 16,000 miles. vin #[xxx] purchase date 28 feb 2009. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

 This is the second time the cooling fan broke and came apart while car is sitting at idle and throws parts of the blades thru the radiator causing holes in raditaor each time the price to repair is over 1900 dollars for faulty fans and the customer has to pay for damage because no recall for that item something has to be done about this. this is a police car and they have to be in working order in order to be keep the comunity safe and not to be paid by the department for repairs every month to replace cooling fansand radiators

 2006 dodge ram 1500,steering wheel shakes & truck pulls when brakes applied. brakes back & front changed rotors & pads. same condition. this condition was reported june 15/07 7 tie rod ends changed & brakes. the second set of brakes have been installed checked tie rods defective & sloppy on second set. vehicle has 71727 km`s & dodge will not change tie rod ends saying truck is out of warranty period. checking used 2006 to 2008 dodge rams have had tie rods changed. suspect chrysler dodge does not want to advertise this defect with recal because after tie rods changed alignment is required.

 Dodge ram 2002 3500 truck the brake disc pads come unglued from the backing plate defect was found on 3 of the 4 brake disc pads. dodge is using poor or the wrong glue there was lots of life in the disc pads and was under 30,000 miles on the truck. *tr

 Around the 6th of december i was involved in an accident. took to insurance company referred service center, jerry ulm dodge, in tampa florida. after 15 days, the vehicle was returned, pretty, but in mechanically worse shape than when it was dropped off. it leaks power steering, the power steering is loose, the exhaust is hanging and bent, and the strut housing is unstable and loose, on the driver's side. there is a visible gap in the rear door, which was the cheif complaint after the crash. essentially, they made the van look pretty, and then returned it to me after breaking the things necessary to pass to get to the parts needing repair. *tr

 Driving my 2003 dodge ram 1500 4x4 a woman pulled out in front of me and i t-boned her on the passenger side going 45 totaled out her car my air bag never went off and the seat belt never locked causing me to go forward in to the steering wheel i bent the steering wheel with my left knee called dodge and they sent someone out to look at it by the time they finally cam out it had been 11 day from the time i called them so the body shop had already started to repair my truck i received a letter in the mail today telling my that your impact was not significant enough to deploy the front air bags come on i was going 45 mph how fast would i have to go for them to go off. *tr

 Death wobble, on many, many occasions exceeding over a dozen. i have replaced numerous front end parts to no avail, including tires and rims. it always occurred at hi-way speeds of 65 mph and above, the best way to describe it is a crash happening with out the bent metal. i am sure this is going to get someone killed if they are an inexperienced driver if it hasn't already, the dead don't talk so to speak, you cant see death wobble after the truck has crashed, you may want to look into the single vehicle fatalities of this make and model of truck i am sure it is high ratio for the amount of vehicles sold, one is unacceptable in my opinion. i could be next. it can happen at any time crossing a bridge, pavement patches, especially dangerous passing slower vehicles like semi-trailers and rv's where you have no where to go but the said vehicles and or bridge wall. this is a terrible issue with these trucks, check internet search engines on death wobble, and this is the truck that comes up, what else do you need before something is done? *tr

 My car had the head gasket replaced and a few other things on it. but i can smell burning oil from some were and the light is on for the oil. i only drive short distances because i am afraid of a fire. not only that it well maybe only go about 2 miles before it shuts down. then i have to wait for it to cool down to start it and get it back home. *tr

 I have a 2008 dodge avenger that brakes are bad. the vehicle has been taken to dodge several times for service and the brakes only last 2 months before they go out again. fortunate for me i have not had any accidents yet with this vehicle and the braking system going out. dodge has replaced the entire braking system and still i have this problem and refuse to believe that their is a safety issue with this particular vehicle and i have tried to contact the service manager, gm of the waldorf dodge and chrysler but no one has resolved this problem or even has gotten back to me on this issue. i have several receipts for parts that were replaced on the car and can provide them upon request the receipts have the part numbers on them. *tr

 I have a 97 dodge ram that started cracking around 2004 and has steadily gotten worse and worse. as a result i have a terrible looking interior and i believe my electrical problems are a testament of the dashboards exposing my electrical wiring to the sun. the only way to halfway fix it i've found is to mount formica squares(not cheap mind you) over the wholes with mounting squares, though it looks terrible. my electrical problems are but are not limited to: power door locks that only unlock the driver side door and power windows that only work half the time and a cupholder that has fallen out on more than one occasion and caused me to rig back into place. of course besides inconvenience of having a lousy dash that sticks out like a sore on a usually sound truck, i am afraid of the other problems it can bring i.e.: worse electrical failures and the possibility of an airbag deploying when it's not supposed to or not deploying when there is need. *tr

 Heat has been out in car 3 times in just over 1 year bought car new in nov 2007 by dec 2008 heat was out for 3rd time, had to pay deductible for repair because of miles put on car. part is a cooler unit that has been replaced, to this day when turn on heat i smell antifreeze and it takes about 30 minutes for warm air. *tr

 I was driving my 2005 dodge stratus sxt along on a gravel road on oct 12 2008 and had a deer run out in front of me. when i swerved to avoid the deer my left front tire blew and caused my car to end up in a ditch. i was traveling approx 35 to 40 mph, neither air bag deployed and the entire front end of my car was destroyed to include the front bumper cover, both front fenders, the hood. the insurance company totaled the vehicle due to $5900 worth of damage. now i would like to know why the air bags never deployed. *tr

 The dashboard material is unstable. near the windshield defrost vents it has started to bend upwards along the vents edges. the passenger vent, next to the airbag, has also popped out a little due to stress from the dashboards. *tr

 I purchased a 2006 dodge charger brand new in march 2006. ever since then there has been problems. i have taken the car to the local dodge dealership where the car was purchased. i had been experiencing problems with the brakes not stopping and squeaking and the fact that i could be accelerating up to about 20-30mph and the car would not go any further. the car is showing signs of transmission problems. these problems lead me to the dealership which was where the car was purchased. the service department said i needed brake pads and nothing else was wrong, which i got brake pads from a different business. the car still continues to do the same thing with the problems with the transmission and the brakes. i see there was no results with going to the dealer so i contacted the corporate chrysler customer assistance # and they advised me to take the car back for a diagnosis, i advised them that i previously done that and there was nothing found. they told me there was nothing they could do because the dealer would need to recognize the problem. *tr

 I had the ball joint situation taken care of when it was recalled and now i am having the same problems with the drivers side ball joint causing difficulty in hard turns and a clicking noise when reaching speeds of 50 and up and the vehicle has also failed inspection. *tr

 I have had so many problems with this vehicle, i don't know where to begin. after purchasing this vehicle new, within the first year and several trips to the dealership for a clunking noise which got louder and faster as i accelerated the dealer couldn't figure out what it was. after picking it up the umteenth time, the noise was still there, i drove back to the dealership demanding they figure it out. they put there qa tech on it and discovered it was the drive shaft. that was replaced and i have had nothing but problems with the transmission slipping, the tires prematurely wearing, ball joints have been replaced several times. they were replaced in december 07 the last time, less than a year before the last time, along with new tires. it is now april 11, 2008 and i was just told after servicing the vehicle they need replaced again and the tires are wearing. the air conditioning failed several times, the brakes and rotors wear bi-annually and don't stop properly, after about 60,000 miles, the computer went on this vehicle, leaving me stranded many, many times. it was at the dealership several times for this and they couldn't detect the problem, even after my personal mechanic told them what it was. i had to have this fixed on my own because the dealership couldn't. the front passenger seat belt sticks and is difficult to unfastened, the paint on this vehicle is almost completely gone from everywhere but the sides of the vehicle. the serious safety issues with this vehicle are ridiculous and really need to be addressed by the manufacturer. how many deaths are you waiting for to occur before you make the manufacturer accountable for their defects??? is it going to take a death to occur and chrysler to be sued for their neglect and faulty equipment????? *tr

 The rack and pinion steering is leaking on my 2003 dodge grand caravan. this issue could cause the seals to blow out and lose power steering causing an accident. this will be the second rack i have had to replace one at 58,000 and now at 91,000. *tr

 I got a 2004 dodge intrepid and i had it for six months and the car had 53k miles on when i got it . i had to buy a transmission 3,500 dollars and 3 months later the motor went out i call dodge they told me that they would not help me so please help me because the car is a lemon i cant keep spending money on the car every month the car is worth 5,600 dollars the loan with transmission is 12thousand dollars so please help me because they want admit that the car is junk. *tr

 The dashboard on our 2001 dodge ram pickup cracked only after a year. we took it so the dealership in mcalester, ok (riverside dodge) and they refused to fix it. they said it was not covered under warranty. now there is an 8 inch hole in the dashboard and numerous cracks over the entire surface and even on the inside trim work. since first reporting this, it has come to my attention that there are hundreds if not thousands of vehicles exactly like ours with the same problem. we feel that dodge/chrysler needs to recall this and take care of this dangerous problem. we have seen and heard of reports on the internet about electrical problems, etc that worries us too. *tr

 Unbelievable problem to have on a truck that has been so pampered. rarely driven on less than paved roads, maintained religiously, immaculate interior. imagine my shock to discover several huge cracks in the dash! one starts at the top to the left of the steering wheel and runs all the way to the windshield, and the other intersects across. i have not yet taken it to the dealership for consideration, but after reading these posts i'm not holding out much hope for a reasonable resolution. what a ginormous piece of crap. *tr

 Both cars i got from the dealer broke down and had to be towed back to dealership. i told them i don't want to do business with them anymore . they never contacted the bank that the deal was no longer in affect and they needed to return the money. now my bank has me and the owner of the first car that was sold to someone else. i called the dmv and was told its true the first car belongs to someone else. i need help this is fraud. *tr

 2000 chrysler intrepid with less than 70,000 miles used primarily by my wife for work. (85 miles per day). car started to knock. we brought it to the dealership for investigation and were told we had an engine failure. dealership replaced small block with what i was told as being a new as an after market part. we started to have oil changes done at dealership only every 3,000 miles(although owners manual states 7,000 for our the type of driving. at less than 40,000 miles the engine started to knock again. dealership would not stand behind product or repair again. i brought it to a local repair shop that was recommended to me by a friend in the business. this repair shop has had some luck with repairing the problem. unfortunately for me not this time. i have contacted chrysler several time with same results as mentioned, service not performed by dealership to bad, i was also told this by dale frank the service manager at the dealership. i have all my vehicles service at or before 3,000 miles. i fine it very absurd that the spark plug change is at 100,000 miles when this engine has no change of ever seeing that number of miles. *tr

 I bought my 2001 stratus r/t used. not even a year after i had bought it, i had to pay over $100 to get it to idle right. then i was in a not-at-fault accident 6 mos. later with over $8,000 in damages to the front end and the air bags didn't deploy. after the wreck i had to pay over $ 1,300 to get the shocks & struts fixed just to have it mess up not even 4 mos. later. it also as a rotten odor coming from it occasionally. i also paid almost $200 for a new battery to have it start to drain not even 6-7 mos. later! and when the battery had to be cleaned, i had to get it re-idled again! now it won't stay started unless you're giving it gas. i love the look, but worst car i ever bought. and it's not even paid off!!!! *e.g.* *tr

 During 200, squeak in front end became louder and louder. had to have upper and lower ball joints replaced on the left and right. truck had 95,000 miles. 2 years late same problem with squeak in front end became louder and louder. needed to have the ball joints replaced again. only about 10,000 miles on truck this time. *ak

 Before i took my vehicle for its 6,000 check up oil change. i began experiencing a lot of shaking in the wheel and brakes. i notified the dealership of this issue during the 6k check. they informed me it was my tire pressure. a week and a half later i took it back to darcars. then they informed me one tire had too much air in it. then i took it back again they states the rotors where worn because i let the car sit too long(???????????????) that was only after i went for a test drive with the shop manager and i told him thru conversation i don't drive the car that much. so, then they turned the rotors which i demanded to measurement documented before and after the work was done. then it was the same thing afterwards i contacted daimler chrysler customer service. then they contacted darcars. then darcars manager bob tells me that a tsb is coming out for bushings for the brakes on the charger and that the parts will be in at the end of the month . meanwhile, they will change the rotors (let me guess not the pads)after that i haven't heard a thing from darcars or daimler but a call from darcars customer service not the management. well yesterday i was leaving work and i began to drive the car with the window down and music down. i hear singing noise from my car. i am truly disturbed. i noticed that darcars dodge in lanham, maryland and daimler chrysler wasted no time cashing the check for my car when i purchased it. i want to take my car to another dealership that is almost a hour away. i feel that i should be compensated with a demo to use while they fix my car. can i get a new car ? *tr

 I own a 2002 dodge intrepid, first off i have always kept up on maintenance. i financed the car about 2 years ago. all of a sudden about 3 months ago i noticed the oil light on, me thinking i may be low on oil i simply took it to get serviced just because of the oil light. that didn't help the car oil light remained. about a week after that i heard a strange knocking noise and then boom in the middle of a intersection as i was about to turn left it died ! took it to a dodge dealer in my area to make a long story short i ended up paying over $1500 and had the car stall on me various times after it was supposedly fixed! finally took it to a mechanic for a third opinion, by then the car was not running. i was told the engine was bad. the dodge dealership should have been honest and told me the car was not operable. please help .....*jb

 I bought a 2001 dodge dakota 4wd a month ago. i have had to replace the lower ball joints, catalytic converter, timing chain, water pump and now the transfer case has gone bad. the truck only has 55000 miles on it. i have only made one payment on the truck and have paid the repair shop over $1500 in repair costs. they only time that i have got to drive the truck is to the repair shop except when i bought it. this is ridiculous, a truck with low miles like this should not have this many problems. the dealer said that they would look at it this time put they couldn't make any promises. we paid for everything else to get fixed and i refuse to pay for anything else. i paid $10,000 for a truck that i can't even drive, i'm actually scared to drive it because who knows what will happen next. apparently dodges are pieces of crap to put it politely. *jb

 I was driving with my daughter ( she was driving my car a 2002 dodge intrepid with 2.7 liter engine), and with no warning the thermostat began to rise. it was a certified used car and i did not have any problems with the car until this occurred. the car began to steam under the hood and cut off. my daughter steered the car over to the curb of a very narrow street hoping it would start. i called a nearby garage to take the car there if it started, after the engine cooled we crept the car to the garage. my daughter reminded about her chrysler sebring with the 2.7 liter defective engine and how it stopped dead on she and her husband at night at a green light because of sludge. when we arrived at the garage, the owner looked at the car after it cooled. he said that the engine was about to go and that i need to take it back to the people who i made it to have them fix it or trade it. i asked if the problem was from engine tampering, as i had tried to trade it earlier at another dealer and the tech said that the engine had been tampered with before i bought the car at kernersville chrysler dodge. he did not know, but that in his opinion short of them putting in a new engine, this will happen again. kernersville chrysler dodge refused to acknowledge any responsibility and would not trade the car nor offered to repair it. i am a 65 year old woman who has had open heart surgery this year and do not need the aggravation. i am paying for insurance and making car payments on a car that cannot be used and sitting in my driveway. need the stress. no body wants this car as a trade. if i sell it myself the bank said they would still consider it a repo. chrysler dodge can have the car back, but i do not think it is fair or right for me to be penalized for their defective engine. they should take the car and call it even. the chrysler dodge company and tim mitchell at kernersville chrysler dodge should be ashamed. *nm

 I am the owner of a 1999 dodge ram 1500. i know there are many other complaints about this same problem. the dash board on my turck was in great shape when i purchased the truck. now within the last couple months the dash board has began to develop large cracks in it, around the right side airbag. the problem have gotten progressivly worse until today, while shutting my hood, a very large chunk and several smaller chunks fell into the firewall area with a couple smaller pieces falling down ontop of the airbag. i am filing a complaint due to a fear that if i was to get into an accident, where an airbag would save the front passengers life, that 1.) the airbag will fail to deploy properly due to chaffing and cuts into the airbag from dash pieces falling and 2.) large pieces of plastic dash will become shrapnal flying around the car of the truck resulting in further avoidable injuries. i am having to replace this dash out of my own pocket. paying for a problem that countless fellow dodge owners are having. look around on any dodge ram forum and do a search on dash and you will pull up thousands on top of thousands of posts about the 2nd gen dodge ram pick-ups (94-01) haveing the same dash board problem.

 Vehicle does not always go into park. there has been a recall#e17 to have an alarm to tell you when it is out of park. there fix is to attach it to the horn making the horn blare when you are in reverse and the door is open or ajar. this is very startling and cause my husband to hit the accelerator and hit our garage. *nm

 2002 dodge grand caravan sport with 35,000 miles. recalled twice for steering fluid hose replacements in 2004. after first hose was replaced, minivan started leaking power steering fluid. received another recall notice for another steering hose replacement. took it in to have that replaced, told them to look into the power steering fluid leak, they said they would. they fixed the recall hose, made not mention of leaking fluid. fluid did not leak for several weeks, then started leaking again. took it back in for 3rd recall (radio vent slots), as well as smoking engine and again mentioned leaking power steering fluid. dealership said they'd look into it. dealership conducted 27 point inspection on own will, did not find leaking power steering fluid (aug. 2005). fluid has been leaking since then. noise in power steering consistently audible, and increasingly louder at all times. now, dealership says the rack and pinion are cracked and need replacing. dealership says this is in no way related to power steering hose recalls or neglect to address power steering fluid leakage. am taking minivan to independent technician for review of rack and pinion and opinion on next step. *jb

 I purchased the 1997 grand caravan in january 1998 at the marlow heights dealership in marlow heights, maryland. the first time i started experiencing issue with the vehicle was 5/1999 at 24,006 miles vehicle had little power when accelerating, transmission not engaging, transmission had to be reconditioned. in 12/1999, there was transmission fluid leaking inside of the vehicle on the driver's side causing a very strong nasty odor. carpet had to be replaced. this caused a hazardous condition to my family especially my kids having to breath in this fluid. 3 /2000 same fluid leaked again in auto because of defective heating coil. then again in 8/2001 the leak happened again. this time i contacted daimler chrysler in north carolina and complained daimler chrysler agreed to repair the vehicle under what they called one consumer repair per customer per vehicle. in 11/2001, the check engine light came on 3 times. at this point, the vehicle was also due for emissions testing and did not pass the test because of a cylinder misfire code. once i was able to obtain the funds for repair, in 5/2004 @ 118,668 miles, i decided to take the vehicle back to the dealership for the repairs. i was told that i needed to have the spark plugs replaced and that would solve the issue. so i paid $114.24 to replace the 6 .spark plugs, problem not solved i ended up paying $3,758.82 in 7/2005 to replace cylinder heads, timing belt, and water pump . this was the second time i had the timing belt replaced. recently, in 3/2006, oil light came on. had to replace both vc gaskets, cam plugs, both ft cam seals and rear cam seals and timing belt once again for third time. this cost to me was $2,677.50. now the oil light is back on again. *nm

 One day on my way to work (about 10 miles from my house) i was going approximately 55 mph when the transmission slammed into second gear and would not shift into another gear. i had my van towed to a shop and it was two sensors in the transmission. the very next day i went to get my van i went to work the van seemed to run like new, and then when i got off of work i rolled down my power window on the drivers side and the window would not roll back up! to have the two sensors fixed was around two hundred dollars and to get the window fixed was one hundred and twenty five dollars and that part for the window was the regulator and the motor, for a new part was like three hundred dollars, i got one used. it has been six months since i got these things replaced and now they are both broke again! the sensors and the drivers side window motor and regulator. i do have the parts that are defective now but i do not have the parts from before. *nm

 My son escaped danger when the transmission/torque converter of his 1999 dodge dakota went out on an interstate highway. after replacing that and heading back home, his u joints and wheel bearings went out almost causing another wreck. these were all repaired. so far $3000 in repairs in a month. then the oil pressure dropped to zero as he was driving. now the oil pump needs replaced. along with the tie end rods, the timing chain, and the serpentine. he'd already had the total brake system replaced this summer. having all the receipts showing regular oil changes, the warranty company refuses to pay for the oil pump because of some sludge in the pump. now i find from researching on the computer that this is a very common problem in durangos and dakotas. we've put $5000 in this truck in less than one month. the manufacturer needs to admit the flaws in this vehicle. they have some responsibility here. we are just glad he was not injured or killed. but we've put over $5000 in a '99 vehicle - which is unfair when the problems are related to the design and manufacture of the vehicle. *nm

 Over the past 3 years, i have had to have the battery replaced three times in this car. each time i have asked for an explanation as to why a year old battery would go bad. the explanation last week was a short in the battery, not caused by the car. since the first 2 times it was replaced by the warranty, i can't understand this issue. this time the battery was not covered. each time this has happened, it has been without warning, no lights flashing, nothing. just go to start the car and nothing. i have been left stranded each time this has happened. clearly, either there is an issue with the batteries being installed, or there is an issue with my car. either way, it should be covered by the company. as it is, i had to shell out $150 last week. *jb

 At about 60,000 miles i notice a ticking sound in the engine i took it in to the local dodge dealership and it was determined to be a lower bearing noise that would ultimately ruin the engines. as the noise got worse i feared driving it anymore . my maintenance contract did not cover engine cost but only affected bearings and this would not be covered by any dealer or manufacture warranty. i subsequently replaced the engine with a used engine which lasted one year and left me stranded beside the road requiring a tow and my vehicle has sat for 2 years with the cost of engine replacement almost doubling. i think an engine recall is in order as i have experienced several; people stopping to ask if the intrepid is for sale because they have one with a bad engine. *nm

 On january 15, 2004 i brought my dodge intrepid vin#2b3hd46rxh103584 to dohn bohn dodge in metairie, la for replace of the drivers side recliner seat bolts. this was being done per a recall notice i received. the nhtsa campaign number id number is #03v035000. an invoice was issued stating the repairs were completed. on september 15, 2004 the same drivers side seat recliner bolt sheared in half and i lost control of the car and had an accident. i am under doctors care for injuries sustained. i reported this information to dahimler chrysler on 10/04/2005 and they gave me a claim number #12695236. i contacted a local dealership lakeshore dodge and they informed since i had the recall already done i would have to pay for the service. i declined and had the bolt replaced by my insurance company and retained the bolt.

 I own a 1998 dodge caravan 3.3l and less than 55,000 miles, the tensioner pulley went out of alignment, the bolt holding the tensioner in place was sheared in half, the belt fell off, and the steering locked up immediately. thank god this happen in the shopping mall parking lot and not on freeway, the van be impossible to control! have the van towed to c&m auto service, have the serpentine belt, the serpentine belt tensioner replaced and re-align the tensioner. the belt/pulley design on this van is flawed and a major safety hazard! in brazil, chrysler did a recall back in 2000 - due to several issues related to belt/pulley system on the caravan and grand caravan models.*ak

 2000 dodge neon-i have had this car for 5 years and use it solely for commuting to and from work. i am a careful driver and do not abuse this vehicle. *ak during these 5 yrs i have had the following work on this car; replaced the brakes twice within the first 2 yrs replaced the battery 3 times over 5 years replaced the transmission at 70k replaced the radiator at 70k the car performs very poorly in ice and snow. i have spun out on several major highways merely doing less than 10 mph in snow/slush. i was told my mechanic that it is the weight distribution and poor design of my vehicle that this happens. my tires have always been maintained/replaced when tread was getting low. i recently paid $400 for a set of new michelin harmony tires hoping that the upcoming snow and ice season may not kill me. car had a musty/fishy odor when i used the heater during the first 2 years. this has since gone. my transmission died during a thunderstorm on my way home from work. it gave no warning, all fluids had just been checked the weekend before when my oil was changed. this incident resulted in over $1900 worth of repair charges. i had just bought out my lease that very week. the $1900 i paid was my entire savings. the following repair work outstands; cdplayer is dead. it chewed up my cds. (1 year) my rear passenger door lock buzzes when i lock it. it apparently needs a new door lock assembly and actuator. (2nd year) the trunk latch does not automatically open. it takes several attempts to lock. (1st year).

 All four of the door actuator have failed. first they make aterrible grating sound then if not replaced, at an increasingly inflating rate (now over $200 each), the door will eventually lock and cannot be unlocked by the keyless entry. you can be locked out or a small child could be locked in. at any rate it is a defective part, it is unsafe, the dealership says this is a recurring problem for dakotas and durangos but now out of warranty so too bad. if you fix it you pay over $200, if you do not you run the risk of doors locking automatically and being unable to unlock them, resulting in any number of dangerous, injurous and destructive situations.*ak

 The front and rear brakes on the 2002 dodge neon seem to have many problems and i feel this should be looked into. the front brakes (pads and rotors) had to be replaced at around 7000 miles due to warped rotors causing severe shaking of the vehicle during braking. now again at 17000 miles the vehicle exibits the same problem with the front brakes. the rear brakes have had a severe squeal since the car was purchased - it was in three seperate times for this. we were told this is a normal problem that all neons have. the first two times it was taken to the dealer they cleaned the breaks and said they were fine. the third time we were told the rear shoes were no good and the rear drums were ruined and needed replaced. (at 16500 or so miles) i called the dodge corporation and after many calls they offered the parts on the rear free but we had to pay for labor. this has been a problem with this vehicle since new and i feel the brake system needs improved to keep this from happining. the vheicle is a 2002 dodge neon sxt driven very little by my mother-in-law, a very easy person on the car so there is no excessive driving by any means that would contribute to this problem. rear drums should almost never need replaced, they seem to last forever on most vehicles and rotors do warp sometimes but not two sets in 17000 miles. i have seen many neons exibit the rear squealing problem on the roads so i know this is not just this car and i would like someone to look into this. thank you for your time. ben hodges. *ak

 I have a 1993 dodge caravan. i have spent over $10,000.00 on repairs since i bought it new in 1993. i am extremely dissatisfied with dodge. i've had several recalls on various components, they were corrected and are now again defective including my seatbelts, abs system, and steering column. i am now noticing that the paint is eroding on the top of my van. i've seen many other dodge caravans with the exact same problem and the exact same pattern of corrosion. it appears the paint is wearing off on the tops of the cars, then the hoods and so on. it eventually rusts through as i've seen on at least 20 dodge caravans. i have never encountered paint wearing away like this on any other vehicles that i've owned and much older than 10 years. i believe there is a defect somewhere in the painting process, perhaps the primer or the paint itself. this is the third letter i've written and i have not received a response from anyone. i would appreciate an investigation into the painting process of these vans. i believe it is also occurring in other year models. thank you, susan deanfrasio. *jb

 Iam the owner of a 2001 grand caravan sport and from day one the power windows driver and passenger acting up.they will go down but i cannot bring them up again immediately,i'll have to wait for a while and then come up a few inches , and wait again, it takes 5 minutes to roll up a power window.the first time chrysler repair the solenoids under warranty, a year later the same windows start acting up again to the point that i have to pull the window up with my hands and somebody else pushing the button at the same time, a process that takes at least 10 minutes, so much for the option of power windows .i contact chrysler about the windows and the response was it's not covered any more under their warranty.a car company as big as chrysler-benz are, if they cannot make power windows that will work , they should not be allowed to offered as an option.*ak

 1998 dodge dakota, upper arm ball joint defect. a story on cbs news last night has prompted me to submit this complaint. september 2000, noise on the right front side of truck prompted me to stop at a dodge dealer to check it out, found the right upper arm ball joint was so bad that the service manager said i could have lost the wheel on the highway at the speed limit causing potentially serious accident. the arm was replaced under warranty (34853 miles). i recently purchased 4 new tires for the truck and asked the dealer to do a front end alignment (59423), he tried and said he could not because the ball joints were defective. i had no indication at this time there was a problem with the ball joints until i tried to get an alignment to protect the new tires, i got a second opinion with the same response. i went to the dodge dealer and confirms that all 4 ball joints in the front end were bad, lower and upper. dealer said it happens occasionally, but i have less than 60,000 miles on the truck and it is my third ball joint on the upper front. this time there was no indication of a problem and it cost me over $1100 to fix as it was no longer under warranty was lucky since the there was no accidents, the problem was caught in time. there is no doubt in my mind that the ball joints used on the dodge dakota are defective and do not last, in my case the replaced ball joint in september 2000 lasted less than 24,000 miles understand there is a class action law suit in progress, can you provide any information on this, chrysler/daimler needs to stand up and fix the problem before there is a tragedy.*ak

 Tires manufacture by pirelli for light duty pick-up truck. the tire size is lt245/75/16 load range e-ply speed range -q style is scorpion a/t m/s. the problem is all four tires were manufacture in brazil at sem camara. the failure to outer belt steel is separating this happened at 31,153 miles. when operating the vehicle it feel like you are walking on top of foot and vibration moving at 25 to 35 mph hour. the tires are available for review. the tire dealership (discount tire centers) had no interest in calling pirelli area service manager around the problems i was experiencing. i knew i had a disaster coming if i didn't remove all four tires quickly from the vehicle. the inter tire casing look excellent with no hot spots or heat cracks. i have following detail information on these tires. lt 245/75/16, scorpion a/t m&s, #8-36p047, speed q, load range (e), origin brazil, 2498 36px47, dot xl 11 8325, european ee0054589, inside tire casing bar code #3003358969, #4003037116, the thread depth averages is 7/32,6/32, 8/32,6/32 . *jb

 1999 dodge intrepid engine seized at only 5600 miles. the dealer said that there is a sludge build up in the engine. the engine needs to be replaced. i was told from at least 10 different auto shops that the 2.7 liter dodge engine is poorly made and that they have seen this same problem time and time again. it runs way too hot and if you don't change the oil every 1500 miles or so, sludge will build up in the engine and cause seizure. there should be a recall on this 2.7 engine or a class action law suit against dodge.*ak

 I was a victim of an accident, another vehicle had struck me in the rear of my vehicle. upon inpact the drivers side seat that i was sitting in had totally colapsed backward. injuries where sustained to neck and back which was confirmed by medical expertise. i truly believe that the injuries where from the seat breaking, giving no support thus allowing my body to jolt backward and bounce around.this is a serious saftey hazard that needs to be addressed before lives are lost. *ak

 I have great misgivings about repairs effected by a daimler chrysler dodge dealership on a recent recall issued by the manufacturer and effecting a several chrysler models including my 1998 dodge intrepid. recall involved changing out driver's side recliner bolts. i've contacted daimler chrysler corp.'s customer service dept. to voice my concerns. chrysler's customer services as informed me that their dealer confirmed satisfactory completion of the work and that the specific recall case was considered closed. i asked for a written declaration from chrysler's customer services, confirming that the recall repairs were completed satisfactorily and were executed in strict compliance with the recommendation issued by daimler chrysler's technical/engineering department. chrysler's customer services refused to honor my request. what recourse do i have if i still am uneasy about the repairs effected?*ak

 I own a 1994 dodge intrepid es that has had a series of fuel leaks at the fuel rail/ injector area. the o-rings were replaced twice in prior years. last week 4 injectors and their seals were replace (at my expense) and once again tonight there is a strong smell of raw gasoline. this is a serious fire potential problem and seems relate to the switch to different gasoline formulations required here for summer driving. the car is again going back to the dealership for repairs. *nlm

 Dodge neon 1997, i found out today the head gasket was cracked, i was told by 4 different mechanics, 2 were dodge mechanics, that they are always fixing the head gaskets and it was a design flaw, the gasket was too thin, i have changed the oil every 2500-3000 miles the car was never run hard and is very well maintained they need to issue a recall for this problem. ts

 I recently had my front-end ball joints replaced on my 1998 dodge avenger at ken nelson auto plaza in dixon, il. this problem was a recall i had done already in may of 2001. recall #967 from nhtsa. they were suppose to put newly designed lateral arm ball joints on my vehicle at that time. the new ball joints didn't last one year and 8 months. i was told i had to pay for the repair this time, for which i did. the cost was $312.60. i do not believe i should be paying for the material defects that were under the original recall work which failed in such a short time.

 You want to make all these laws, but yet you are only taking into account an average size child. what happens when you have a two year that is over 40 pounds that has to travel for 12-14 hours. ts first of all, he no longer fits into the five point harness. secondly, booster seats have no padding. i would not want to seat in one of those seats for 12-14 hours, so why should i put my child thru such pain. yes, i am worried about my childs saftey. do you know how distracting it is to drive with a screaming child because he is so miserable? thirdly, has any one done any studies on the effect of the childs neck muscles as a result of the way he has to sleep in a booster seat with his head hanging down. yes i have bought him a neck pillow. no this does not help. my son had problems with a tight muscle in his neck from birth. i had to get therapy. who is responsible is the carseat causes this condition to return???? yes, i would like someone to respond by mail to this question!!! afterall, isn't your organization concerned about saftey? and if my son's stiff muscle returns, causing his head to grow abnormally which can cause other things like brain damage, wouldn't you call this a saftey issue????????? maybe your organization hasn't looked at all the safety issues involve in carseats!!

 My 2008 dodge avenger had been sitting in front of my house since the beginning of may 2011. on the 24th of june 2011 i decided to take it in to the dodge dealers to have it fixed. while driving on the highway the car suddenly started to make a loud roaring noise and jerk. i drove into an exit in order to get off the highway. while trying to turn the steering wheel to enter the yard of a station i noticed that there was no response. the car kept sliding towards the curb. i had to quickly pull up the handbrakes to stop the car from running into the curb and beyond. then it stalled blocking the entrance to the gas station. before totally stopping, all the lights and indicators on the dash board were going on and off like crazy this is the second time that i have had to tow the car in to the dodge people. the first time, in 2010, the shift stick would not budge from park to drive and the car just wouldn

 Purchased my 2008 dodge avenger in april 2008 and have had nothing but problem after problem with it first the air bags were recalled then the latches on the doors were recalled. the tire pressure sensor light just never goes off most recently the fuel pump went on the vehicle costing me close to 700 and now the alternator which is going to cost me another 600. what kind of vehicle did dodge build. this is some bs an all of this is while the vehicle only has about 65000 miles or less n it.

 I own a 2002 dodge ram p u, cummins diesel, and manual trans.. and have replaced the tpu throttle positioning unit (sensor) 3 times now, @ a cost of over 700.00 each time. not only is this an expensive repair, but a potentialy and very dangerous defect in these trucks. what occurs is a fluctuation , and the ability to controll the accelerator with the pedal, from a fluctuating ability, to an all out loss of power whatsoever... the engine will accelorate, and the idle will rise creating a dangerous situation, then eventualy the engine will not respond at all to the pedal... i use my pickup to haul and tow many differant trailors, including our 40 ft. 5th wheel, and have had several close calls when i loose power altogether. there needs to be a recall on this unit... sensor, as it is not only expensive, it is more importantly very dangerous.

 I bought a 2010 dodge journey and have had many issue. first the alignment has always gone towards the right and has been in the shop twice and they said it was fine. i have always had problems with the nav and computer music system. the newest and worst issue is in less than 2 weeks has stopped while i was driving. i took it in the first time and the service said they rebooted the computer and it was fine. few days later i was going 40 down the road and the car shut off again. both times the car is in drive and the key is in. it is now back in the shop and i am afraid the airbags are not going to work. i am afraid that i will be hit and injured. i have 4 year old twin boys. dodge/chrysler is not helpful at all. i am afraid to drive the car. it is back in the shop and for a car less than a year old, i feel it should work. i don't know what to do.

 Bought a dodge interpid the engine has been replaced twice it's an 2.7 v.6 .... the car stalls , the light fickers on an off as well as my radio!! my sensor are faulty because it give my car fauly rreading to the wrong errs not only, that i have had build up in both engines grime and broken down pariticals! my speed is off sometime my car picks up speed by it self or it don't gain speed at all! the car also loses power for no reason at all! drain my battery four times! over heat without warning! had my trermastat replace twice!!! to many problem keep ocurring and i can keep up with any of this!! texas dmv told me about this site told me about that these cars are not any good!! please help what do i do with this car?

 I own a 1997 dodge ram 3500 and the headlights go out on it after half an hour or less of headlight use and sometimes it blows a fuse and no tail lights are on and i have to pull over and change the fuse so i can continue my course. i sometimes have to pull down on the headlight switch to get lights to stay on. another thing is that the dashboard is cracked and the plastic is falling apart and this needs to get corrected before some accident happens to all dodge owners who might not have the knowledge of this problem.

 Fuel gauge reads half full and it is empty. i have put in 6 fuel sending units and it will last 6 to 9 months and the gauge will slowly start to show fuel in tank and it is empty. this is a very common problem with all diesels. last time i was ran out of fuel in the fast lane of i-75 in florida. cars wound up in the median and shoulder cause my truck was dead in the fast lane. gauge read a little over half a tank of fuel. this is going to get someone killed. *tr

 Multiple problems with 2008 dodge grand caravan se, van was special ordered at advantage chrysler jeep and dodge, des plaines il from factory with mygig ves, we took delivery on feb 2008, our sales guy quit before we even got the van. sad. _____________ first problem was within first 6 mos. loud whistle noise coming from windshield on warm and hot days at 60+ mph , dealer resealed but problem still same. __________________ brakes had to be redone after 14,000. this is a common problem, judging by all of the complaints, i was even more pissed off after getting a $500 bill and a dopey explanation from the shop manager at advantage chrysler jeep and dodge. we took it in for a break inspection, they did all the work without checking with me first. _________________ the next thing to stop working was the passenger side sliding door auto lock. it no longer responds to electric or remote switch. we have to lock and unlock manually. they suspected a harness but did not have one in stock, 2 months for delivery of part, i had no time to go back. _________________ just recently oct 2009 during a rain storm, the wipers stopped to function in any position, the wipers were turned on while the car was running, had to pull over shut off/on, then they worked fine. __________________ spouse also reported that radio stopped working, no audio or video temporarily, it also started to work after turning off then on of the key. _________________ we are

 Bought a used 2006 dodge ram 2500 trx4 with the 5.9l cummins. driving home from the used car dealership, my turn signal switch was not working properly. it would vary from when i had in the left turn position, sometimes the right blinker would flash too, or nothing would blink. sometimes, when i make a right turn and initiate the right turn signal, nothing flashes or if i put it in the left turn position, then the right turn signal flashes. i purchased it used on sep 1, 2009; and this is my first dodge and more importantly, a life-threatening equipment fault/malfunction. i have read online several articles of this affecting several year model dodge ram 2500/3500 trucks. if this is known, why isn't a recall initiated and i as a user/consumer, now has to pay another $100 for a multi turn switch, from which i read, may malfunction within a year. *tr

 I have a 2006 dodge grand caravan and i have 55,000 miles on it. my air bag light came on and it stays on. the book said to get it fixed immediately so i called a dealership that is 30 miles one way and they said it would cost $79.00 to look at it and it would cost up to $300.00 if the air bag sensor was bad. i then called a local auto shop and they said they could check it for $49.00 and they did. the rt front air bag sensor was indeed bad. it had corrosion inside it. the total bill might come to $150.00 or more. i checked on line and see, there was a dodge/chrysler recall on the 2005 model for corrosion getting in the sensor and causing them to fail (which is the same thing my 2006 did) why isn't the 2006 models included in the recall? i called chrysler and they said if it gets put on a recall list then i would be reimbursed for my expenses because that would be a safety issue no matter where i had it fixed. *tr

 I was getting ready to go to work when i tried to put on the headlights, which failed 3 times . i kept switching the lights switch on high beam, then low beam, turned the light switch off, then back on again. in which the light turned on for me to be able to go to work. i then tried again several days in a row i called the dealer and got an appointment to have the switch checked, i took my car in on march 12, 2007 for them to look at it on march 13. they told me that, not only was the switch bad, but the plug overheated and melted the plug that plugged into the steering column. he told me that the y had to go to pick up the plug because they did not have it in stock. my question to the parts man was what caused it to get that hot that it melted the plug like that ? he said to me, he had no idea. now my question to you is, if something got that hot in the switch, which caused the pug to melt , that it broke into several pieces as he tried to get it out, . to me this is a safety hazard. and i then asked him now can you tell me, can this happen again> he said he couldn't say that it couldn't. if it is not a recall, someone should make it one. there is not anything telling me that it couldn't get that hot and melt that switch, that it couldn't catch something in the electrical system on fire. please let me know if you find anything. i submitted one complaint 2 weeks ago, and haven't heard any reply. please , someone get back to me on this matter. i was also told that my car isn't the only one that has come in there with this type of problem. it wasn't only my make or model, but something is causing that switch to get hot enough to melt the plug. thank you for your time in this matter.*ak

 Upon having the truck at dealer b for warranty servicing,the dealership installed without my knowledge or consent the e17 out-of-park alarm, similar to recall nhtsa campaign 05v462000. the recall was for a computer flash to look for several things to occur simultaneously; 1) driver's side door opened, transmission was in reverse, and foot was off of brake. when these conditions occurred the horn started blowing and the lights start flashing. this was not an acceptable recall, and i didn't want it on my truck. on numerous occasions i needed to back up by having the driver's side door open to use the ground as a reference. this typically occurred when mirror or window views were blocked, or there was an object behind that could not be seen. when trying to back up to these objects the horn started blowing and lights started flashing. this resulted in bothering neighbors, coworkers, etc. it was an annoyance and it did not result in a safer vehicle. chrysler needed to develop an alternate method for addressing the problem, if there was truly a problem needed to be addressed. chrysler informed me that they were not willing to reverse the recall that it was in place. also, they claimed that they were mandated to do the recall if i brought the truck in for service, and therefore claimed they had no duty to inform me beforehand. this was tantamount to tampering with my vehicle without my knowledge or consent. does chrysler have the authority to perform this recall without my knowledge or consent? if so, from where do they derive this authority?*ak updated 04/18/07. *jb

 Auto transmission downshifts at freeway speeds, throwing driver towards windshield. problem began 2003. have many, many service visits. lube shop flushed system. dealer replaced tps switch, dealer replaced tcm, trans shop rebuilt transmission with new torque converter and new input and output switches (worked one year) then problem returned. trans shop flushed system, trans shop replaced tps (again), trans shp recommended to replace tcm (again), but, dealer said no problem found. another dealer says tps bad. when i said it was replaced 100 miles earlier, they said that it was either wiring short, or main computer failure, has no way to know what problem is. also said that if i fix the wiring i would have to rebuild the transmission (again), awen i said it was rebuilt last year, dealer changed his story and said i did not have to rebuild transmission. dealer recommends junking the car. manufacturer is not helping at all. not looking for free work, i already spent $3000. i just want the problem fixed. it is extremely dangerous. this is a known problem for dodge, but they won't fix it, and they won't admit to a problematic transmission in this 4 speed. *nm

 I was in my 1999 dodge stratus all of maybe 15 minutes traveling to the store. i turned it off and went in the store for maybe 5 minutes. i started my car again and traveled to a friends house maybe 10 minutes from the store. i was in their home probably 10 minutes tops. when i went to leave i noticed smoke coming out from under my hood and flames shooting out from under the front of my car. we tried unsuccessfully to put the fire out. when the fire department finally arrived my car was totally engulfed in flames. i had liability insurance so i just lost my car because it was totaled. then in april of 2006 i get a recall (e23) from daimler chrysler and i am totally amazed. this is probably what happened to my car. i notified daimler chrysler and the sent someone out to take pictures of my car and then sent me a letter denying my claim. the same complaints which alerted them of the problem with the power steering fluid hose and caused this recall to be made, are those with almost exact circumstances as myself. so what do i do now? the gentleman at customer claims resolution group for daimler chrysler stressed to me to hire and attorney. so this is what i will be doing within the next few days. *nm

 On dec. 12, 2004 myself, my daughter , & her step-daughter were on our way to go shopping approximately 60 miles from home. we stopped at approximately 45 miles and ate lunch, then continued the other 15 miles. we exited the 1999 dodge stratus and entered the store. after approximately 5-10 minutes, an in-store page went out that a vehicle of our description was smoking badly. when i looked out the store window, i saw the vehicle was mine. i ran out to the parking lot to find my car (1999 dodge stratus) motor was on fire with fire coming out from underneath the motor and black smoke boiling out. by the time emergency vehicles arrived (police and fire department), my car was fully in flames. fire fighters extinguished the fire finally, but my car was totally destroyed. the hot-spot on the hood was on the driver side near the windshield. *jb

 On august 12th while driving on scatterfield dr, an area of high construction, my 1995 dodge neon suddenly stalled and quit right in the middle of traffic. i had a full tank of gas so i knew that was not the problem and luckily it was a construction area and traffic was moving rather slowly. i was able to pull off the road and the car would not start so i caledl peyton well auto at (765) 644-1111, who on august 11th had just repaired my car for similar problems that included my battery light coming on and then the car may or maynot start.they sent a tow truck to get me. a month earlier the car stalled and just quit and i had it towed to this same dealership who charged me 300.00 to fix the electrical suspension and harness. on august the 11th i was told it was the starter and that cost me another 300.00. after researching the recall list i found recall information # 94v033000 that identifies powertrain control module problems that should be replaced. this was obviously never completed on this vehicle. i am scared to drive the vehicle. the peyton well service advisor ben woodfill stated if anything like this happened again they would fix it for free but this was after telling me that the main harness to the motor needed replacing and that they had found some corrosion on another electical part and cleaned it up on august 12th. my fiance spoke with the service advisor and stated that we were under the impression the problem was fixed the first time when we had it towed in but now they were telling us that it would cost and additional 700.00 to get this so called main harness replaced. it was then that mr. woodfill confered with his manager and they stated they would fix anymore problems like the ones i have had for free. to me this is unacceptable. if they know there is aready a problem then why not go ahead and fix it. don't wait until my car stalls in 65 mph traffic and it is too late. please help!!! *ak

 I bought this van new in 1997 just after buying the van there was ticking noise coming from the engine i feel it is the lifters but dealership says no it was the fuel purge valve. the noise countinues to get worse and i am sure the noise is the lifters when i change the oil to 10w-30 the noise goes away. the oxygen sensor was replaced at approx 50k miles. the van has recently been in the shop for the transmission two or three time since november 2003 aprox. 90,000 miles on it. the transmission was hanging up in second gear when dodge retuned to me the transmission shuttered while driving. vehicle is now in the shop for the transmission again it is leaking from the output shaft seals and while in park when starting the vehicle the van jerks foward like the trasmission is still engaged. this all happens while in park. sometimes when the vehicle is shifted from drive to park if the accelorator is pressed the vehicle jumps / jerks foward this seems to be a safety issue as my wife and i have three children that sometimes walk in front of the van to get in when we go off as a family. my check engine light came on just hours before i returned to the dealer for transmission service and it is the egr valve failure that caused the ckeck engine light to come on. the dealership tried to put the transmission off as that but i am also a mechanic the egr valve has nothing to do with the transmissionacting as if it is engage although it is acually in park.this is not good practice to lie about a serious problem with the vehicle. also the transmission leak was caused from the first removal of the transmission and chrysler warranty department said the leak would not be covered this is also very digusting when you remove an axle the seal should be replaced before you reinstall the transmission. the dealer is still trying to find out what is wrong with my transmission. the water pump has failed and also the cooling fan relay failed for the engine cooling system.*ak

 My interior light and my gauges in my car are not working. i can't see how fast i am going or how much gas i have in my car because they aren't moving. the first time it stopped working a fuse wasn't all the way in i pushed it in underneath the hood and it worked. then the next time that it went out i tried that same fuse and pushed it in and it still didn't work i had someone check the fuse and they said that the fuse wasn't burnt out. they pulled the fuse out and put it back in and it worked. now this is the third time that this has happened and nothing is working. i took it to the dealer and they said something about the clusters need to be fixed. this car is only two years old and i should not be having these types of problems with this car i don't have 700 dollars to pay for this and this car is still practically new. *jb

 I own a 1999 dodge grand caravan, sport edition. yesterday while my wife was making a right turn on the street, the steering froze and the brakes failed. she went straight on the other side of the cross street and the van went dead. upon starting the van again, the service engine soon light came up. the speedometer was unresponsive and somehow we brought the van home. this is probably the speed sensor that has gone bad again. three months ago when i was driving the van on the freeway, the van went unresponsive and i had to pullover. upon starting the van, it showed the service engine soon light and would not catch up highway speed. i had to drive at 35 mph speed on freeway at very high engine revolutions and come home. the dealer replaced the speed sensor to fix the problem. the serious thing of the problem in this van is that the problem occurs suddenly while the van is in motion. yesterday and three months ago it could have resulted in a fatal accident. *la

 We have had our 1995 dodge stratus at serramonte auto plaza's dodge service for over 7 weeks now. there is a problem with the car dying out. it dies at any time and under no specific condition. when it dies, as if all power fails, which it does eventually, and is out of gas. there has been a total of 2 service provides and now a third to figure this problem out. my real issue is with the certified expert dealer service who 1) replaced an erg valve - it did not fix the dying out problem, then after more than 15 service hours later they said it was the catalytic converter $750 more and that did not fix nor was the problem. prior to going to the dodge dealer, i had the car at visitation auto service in sf who informed us that the problem was with the power distribution unit $1000 to replace including parts (never saw the old unit- was told that it had to go to the manufacturer), nor are we sure that any of these repairs and parts were justified - needed, because there has been no improvement at all, the car still dies when ever it feels like it, and it dies on the freeway, drive way, city street, and will only start again after a rest period of say 15 minutes. and then you just never know when it will kill again. being that the stratus has power windows, cassette, 51,000 miles, and is very good condition with no accidents and excellent maintenance record the car's value is $3500-$4000 but because the dealer knows of the issue of dying out and their own repair shop can not fix it, informed us of it being worth $1000 - $1500, this is less than the amount we invested to repair it, and they will not offer us another thats equal in mileage, condition and value. so are we at a major loss because dodge can not repair this problem with their vehicle? *la

 Had a radiator fan relay recall on 1996 dodge caravan replaced 3 times and radiator fan still continues to come on at various times when car is not running, running battery dead, front w/s wiper blades comes on by itself, lost fm stereo frequency all together. cannot depend on this with 2 small children. *jb

 While driving down road at any speed the system will reset self like the clock will reset to 1200 and the seat belt light will flash on and motor light and airbag light all will flash and during that time the car has shut it self off then come back on like nothing happened. then it will die completely i have had it in the shop twice and no one can find the problem. i have about got rear ended while this has occurred. it has done this 3 times in one week and 2 times in another week . this is a very bad problem and really needs to be looked at. it is a shame that people cant get a good car without problems i haven't had this car 1 month yet it is a used car 2001 but only has 46300 miles on it i believe there is something wrong with the computer system somewhere all i have had is a run around and i pay to much a month on this car. i pray everyday when me and my daughter gets in it that we don't get hurt or worse killed. please let some one here read and help. this is a serious matter. *nlm

 Ever since i purchased my 1999 dodge intrepid at the dodge downtown la, many problems have occurred. the first problem was that sensors in the car kept blowing out, heater/ac went out and window motor blew out. all of these problems occurred more then once.dodge downtown la could never determine what was wrong with the vechicle. a couple of weeks later, the engine blew out. all together i have spent $3000 for my car. i wish i would have knew what was wrong with my car before the problem got worse.dodge downtown of la was not helpful to me in my situation.

 I bought a 2010 dodge journey and have had many issue. first the alignment has always gone towards the right and has been in the shop twice and they said it was fine. i have always had problems with the nav and computer music system. the newest and worst issue is in less than 2 weeks has stopped while i was driving. i took it in the first time and the service said they rebooted the computer and it was fine. few days later i was going 40 down the road and the car shut off again. both times the car is in drive and the key is in. it is now back in the shop and i am afraid the airbags are not going to work. i am afraid that i will be hit and injured. i have 4 year old twin boys. dodge/chrysler is not helpful at all. i am afraid to drive the car. it is back in the shop and for a car less than a year old, i feel it should work. i don't know what to do.

 My 2003 dodge ram 1500 was in the shop for an a/c repair when they had to remove the dash board. about 3 months later a small crack appeared, followed by many more larger cracks. in 2 different parts of my dash board. the dash board continues to spider crack 9 months later. the dealer looked at it early on and never contacted me back saying it is a problem w/ these trucks. nothing they will do about it. treated me as if it was my fault. blamed everything from the elements, the design, me and didn't care to help. my truck has been babied and has less than 60k miles. this is a defective dashboard/plastic and needs to be addressed. what's to happen if i am in an accident with airbags, this is my family vehicle...will this become shrapnel? as i read other complaints this has been an on going issue. why hasn't this been addressed, my truck has never be in an accident! no reason for this to happen. bad enough that the a/c failed at 51,000 miles at a huge cost but to end up with a broken dash is wrong!

 I purchased this vehicle used from a reputable dealer. all repairs are well documented. over the last 2 years there have been recurring problems with overheating that no one was able to diagnose. my husband went out to start the car after it had been sitting for approximately 12 hours and the engine burst into flames. thank goodness there was a snow bank or our house would have been a loss as well. through the internet i have discovered a recall for symptoms that we have experienced, without repair, but are listed in recall information. we are getting the run around about how to pursue repairing the vehicle under the recall provisions. *ak

 We purchased this vehicle used in august 2001. after two months of having the vehicle we had to replace the serpentine belt, which broke as soon as i turned a corner,(we were told the dealership, maroone toyota in weston, fl sould see nothing wrong) we then had to have the vehicle looked at as our engine light came on (we were told there was nothing wrong with the engine) within the next 2 years of having this car, we have replaced the serpentine belt 4 addiotnal times, we have had the motor in the driver door break and we cannot get that window down, we have the warning lights come on for the air bag system (which i just noted is a recall issue that i never received notice), we have just experienced the a/c breaking down, wich looks in turn that this will be a problem with the pulley or system it is attched to ( a coil problem). we have 3 small children and i must admit that this has been the worst experience that i have ever encountered with a used vehicle. we have had nothing but complications with this vehicle - i should have returned thevehicle and count my blessings, i'm afraid the next time something goes wrong with this vehicle - it may cost us ourlives. can someone please contact me and tell me my options.*ak

 Transmission not shifting properly. shifts at 35 mph and then winds out to 55 mph or more and will not shift until you take foot off gas slightly. vehicle has been brought back 6 times for same problem. their fix was from adjustments to changing internal tranmission parts to installing a new transmission with the same problem persisting. now am in lemon law litigation. *ak

 I am the original owner of the vehicle. at 48,000 miles the transmission failed. it was replaced by the dealer, glenn e. thomas dodge in signal hill. thereafter, every 15,000 to 25,000 miles or so, the transmission has failed, probably 5 times now; the computer for the trans has failed twice, the motor computer failed 2 times, the power windows broke off their tracks, the sliding door jammed shut and wouldn't align. now the paint job on my white 1990 dodge grand caravan (with wood trim) is peeling off, mostly on the roof (where it is almost completely gone, down to the primer, rusting through to the roof metal) and on the hood and front quarter panels. the paint was not properly applied to the primer undercoat or the primer was not properly applied so as to adhere to the top color coat. i have seen many other caravan's of the same model with their paint completely or partially peeled off as i have driven around. it is a very obvious defect of the paint--there are no other vehicles out there with this kind of paint flaking and peeling problem to this extent. the plastic coating on the wood trim is all flaking and peeling off as well. it makes the car look shaggy! what a mess. this car really needs a paint job to be paid for by the manufacturer. i have paid out thousands of dollars for transmissions to be replaced. i am on a three-year warranty with dodge for the transmission and on my third transmission failure under that warranty! the overdrive unit is fully defective and the company will not undertake to fix it. the car will fail and the trans will just spin without engaging any forward gear or it will not shift into third or overdrive. the speed sensor unit is also defective and frequently needs to be replaced. what a mess of a transmission! i have it regularly serviced and i don't drive it hard or abuse the trans. help.

 To: whom it may concerns: i am writing to you as a dissatisfied dodge caravan owner. i purchased my van brand new on march 1999. i have had consistent problems with the car, since the day i purchased it: a) on january 24, 2000 we replaced the , sensor, transax le, turbin input in the transmission. b) february 17, 2000 we replaced the battery. c) february 20, 2001. we replaced the evaporetor, suction line, liquid line and the coil in the air condition unit. d) replaced the window lift motor. e) january 8,2002 replaced sop belt tensioner coil . f) january 4,2002 replace the battery. g) march 2, 2002 replaced windshield washer pump. h) june 2, 2002 replaced fuel seal. i) november 13, 2002 replaced the high pressure valve of the a/c now they are asking us to replace the evaporetor and the compressor which was replaced by maroone dodge on february 2001!!! all repairs were done at authorize dodge dealer: maroone dodge located: 21151 n.w 2nd ave miami, fl 33169 tel: 305-653-6343. we feel that for 44,000 miles car we should not experienced so much problem especially with the a/c which was fixed in 2001. we hope you will correct the wrong and repaired the car with no cost to us.sincerely david and honey bouganim 239 atlantic isle sunny isles, fl 33160 tel: 305-945-5354

 I have a dodge grand caravan (2005). we got a flat tire, and had to change it. we had never used the jack before. we were on a completely flat surface and the jack bent during use! thankfully, no one was injured. i took the bent jack in to the dealer and showed them. they said there was nothing they could do. they would not cover/replace it (even under my extended warranty).

 I have to replace the engine on my 2004 dodge durango. the truck started overheating and i had the thermostat changed, now i can not accelerate, the truck is making a loud rumbling noise. for the first 3 yrs of owning my truck, it worked wonders, it never gave me any problems. and then just one day it overheated, it kept cutting off on my while in idle. i am a single mother of 4 children and now i have not vehicle to get back and forth. dodge chrysler needs to do something about the faults in their vehicles and take responsibility.

 Bought a dodge interpid the engine has been replaced twice it's an 2.7 v.6 .... the car stalls , the light fickers on an off as well as my radio!! my sensor are faulty because it give my car fauly rreading to the wrong errs not only, that i have had build up in both engines grime and broken down pariticals! my speed is off sometime my car picks up speed by it self or it don't gain speed at all! the car also loses power for no reason at all! drain my battery four times! over heat without warning! had my trermastat replace twice!!! to many problem keep ocurring and i can keep up with any of this!! texas dmv told me about this site told me about that these cars are not any good!! please help what do i do with this car?

 I was driving home from work when the front right tire appeared to blowout causing the car to skid in the curb. my husband came and put the little spare on and i was to take it a dodge dealer the next morning for them to inspect the tire for abnormalities, etc. about a half block from the original blowout the car suddenly swerved into the center lane and the front end appeared to drop and i gained control of the car and got it to the right lane and the car stopped without me putting it in park. i then put it in park and got out to see what it was and found that the spare tire had broken off the axel and was pushed into the wheel well and the front end of the car was actually sitting on the ground with all the fluids draining out into the street. i heard and felt a loud crunch sound thinking someone had either hit me or i hit somebody else. unfortunately, that was not the case. i had the car towed and it will arrive at the dealership in the morning for them to assess the damage to the engine, transmission, frame and and wheel axels. i have had no other complaint with my car except for the radio/cd player which was replaced with a new player.....the radio however is still not working right. i was not hurt during either incident, but, i do believe seeing the damage to the car was some kind of defect in order to create that sort of damage. i would appreciate any help that someone may be able to offer or at least investigate the car. thank you very much for timely attention into this matter.

 Steering problems 2002 dodge intrepid. steering gear replaced at approx 60,000 miles then inner tie rod bushings failed at 196,000 miles now they have failed again at 224,000 miles 18 months and there is major play in the steering of the car as well as movement in the tire leading to possible excessive tire wear.

 Driver side rear brake caliber mechinism. i has the caliber replaced in march and had new break pads and rotors installed. i drove about less than 3000 mile and had the same thing happen again. in this last episode i have paid out $1300 in just parts, not to mention labor costs, and two $100 tow bills and the problem is still not fixed. i have replaced the entire break caliber fully loaded mechinism and drove 20 miles and had to have the car towed due to the break caliber freezing again. this issue is a major safety issue that could cause death of myself my passengers, and others on the road. i bought this car used to get back and forth to work and family events. i got this car because of it size affordablity for me as a single mother of three living on a fixed income. i thought because it was newer that i would be able to drive it for awhile before major issues would happen. i have only this car a year and have not been able to drive it more than 20 miles before having it towed to a garage since this last issue. i have had the pad and rotors replaced twicew because of it in the last two weeks. this last time i had to tow it to my home as i cannot put any more money into it yet i still have 6 years of payments left. this is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. if they cannot fix it than they need to give me a new van.

 Purchased the car for my daughter on 12/20/2011 from pat clemmons in boone was told what a great car this was, a few weeks there was no heat to the cabin changed thermostat no change after a few weeks water starts to leak from the engine after the engine warms up, told that it needs a water pump and that would take care of both problems $1200.00. immediately noticed the engine knocking. changed the oil with recommended weight and used synthetic oil knock worsened and now oil light comes on at idle. only one does the mechanic recommend i research the 2.7l v6 and decide what i want to do as the knock i am hearing is the timing chain that is held taunt with oil pressure which my engine does not have and a new engine is required. thanks alot !!!!!! pat clemmons your were right this cas is awesome, if i whated to spend a dollar a mile i would have bought an airplane.

 Tie rod end failure at the pitman arm/ inner tie rod conectionon a 2006 dodge ram 3500 quad cab 4x4 truck. the tie rod stud sheared off completely under little to no load after only 23,000 miles of having the h46 recall completed. the angle at which the tie rod end and the pitman arm connect is too extreme. the pitman arm needs to be built with less angle, this would decrese the load on the tie rod end.

 On feb. 17, 2011, i started to accelerate onto i-495 in maryland. hitting the accelerator for a fast take off, the accelerator broke off and the car went from 15 mph to 80 mph in 5 sec. i immediately put the car in neutral, got to eht eside of the road and applied the brakes.if there had been a another vehicle in front of me, i probably would not be making this post right now. so far, chrysler of dodge has done nothing. i did ordera replacement accelerator assembly and made the repair. this could have been a fatality, if not for god and my own professional experience as a driver. dodge should at the least pay for the parts and labor of this repair.

 I heard whine noise coming from my front wheel hubs on my 04 ram 1500 2wd with 73724 miles in january of 2010. took to chrysler dealer and they confirmed hubs were loose and replace them both with aftermarket hubs part number 515072. 10 months later and approx 4000 miles on november 10, 2010 at 7 pm i was making a left hand turn in an empty lot going to an atm and felt and heard a pop then my right front end was on the asphalt. got out and found my wheel laying next to my truck with all lug nuts still in place. i inspected the damage and the wheel hub broke completly apart luckily i was going slow in a parking lot. my front right fender is damaged, the brake caliper snapped off the spindle and hub is in several pieces with roller bearings spread out over area that is just what i saw the may be more damage. called the dealer they sent a wrecker to get my truck and still waiting to see what is going to happen. they act like they dont now anything.

 On friday september 17, 2010 i was driving down hignway 231 in lafayette indiana, when suddenly i realized i could no longer use the brakes on my truck. i tried to slow my vehicle by braking but my brakes were not working so i just let up on the gas. at this point my brake light came on as did my abs light on the control panel. i was still about 40 miles away from my home and still had about 30 minutes of drving to do before i reached my destination. i drove about 20 miles an hour with my emergency lights on and was prepared to us my emergency brake if i needed to. thankfully there was construction going on at the time on parts of highway 231 at the time, so parts of highway 231 were slow going anyway. however, the loss of my brake system should never have happened. i made it successfully home without injuring myself or anyone else on friday september 17, 2010. however, my truck is only 9 years only and this incident should never have taken place. when i returned home alll of my brake fluid was poring out and was completely out of the master tank under my hood. furthermore, looking at the brake lines, the hard lines that lead to this problem revealed that severe rust had lead to the total breakdown and actually caused the hard lines of my brakes to brake in half, while i was driving. this should never happen in a nine year only vehicle, that is very well maintained. i have since replace my brake system with all new parts and bleed the brake system. i have also told people with whom i now have other dodge's about my incident, to at least check their brake system for possible rust so they do not ahve to go through what i have gone through. i have kept the old part, at least for a while, in case i need to prove that this really did happen and these were really bad parts that chrysler installed on these trucks. most of all i would like to know why there were no recalls on this after there were so many proplems with this same incident.

 Failure of 2003 dodge ram 3500 with ho diesel engine and manual 6 speed transmission - engine turns over but fails to start. been to crown in nitro and courts in hurricane a total of 7 times. dealerships fail to fix. have spent approx. $2500 and still not fixed. can stall at intersection or railroad crossing causing grave injury or death; need help to get problem fixed by recall process. all chrysler-dodge says i apologize. chrysler-dodge knows of problem b/c will fix on as need basis if under warranty; told by crown, nitro that we were lucky fuel pump lasted as long has it had when replaced (we had to pay) over a year ago. has caused compounded problems with injectors. mostly likely has caused high pressure pump then injectors to fail as these parts use the lubricating properties of diesel fuel as the lubricant for these parts.

 Death wobble! this has happened to me to many times to count. i have had the front end of my 2003 dodge ram cummins repaired twice. both times i have had ball joints and tie rods replaced along with axle u joints and followed by alignment. i have also added a dual steering stabilizer system. that has helped a little bit, but it still happens often. the wobble has taken me off the road once at 60 miles per hour. luckily, nobody was hurt. please help if you can. thank you justin hulse.

 Regarding our 2001 dodge stratus, lower control arm ball joint failure. originally on october 25th of 2005 we had the left front control arm/ball joint assembly replaced because of severe squeaking during suspension movement. this was caused by lubrication failure. there is no way to re-lube this joint on this design. the assembly was replaced with the only available part at the time from dodge. for the past couple of weeks i had noticed that during abrupt braking the vehicle would pull strongly to the left, then recover when the brakes were released. i had scheduled for inspection appointment on 11/10/2009. then on11/2/2009 the same exact ball joint failure occurred to the left side when my 16 year old son was driving the vehicle. i had read the nhtsa campaign # 09e-056 regarding the qualis failure and wondered if it could be related somehow. please advise. *tr

 I have a 2008 dodge avenger that brakes are bad. the vehicle has been taken to dodge several times for service and the brakes only last 2 months before they go out again. fortunate for me i have not had any accidents yet with this vehicle and the braking system going out. dodge has replaced the entire braking system and still i have this problem and refuse to believe that their is a safety issue with this particular vehicle and i have tried to contact the service manager, gm of the waldorf dodge and chrysler but no one has resolved this problem or even has gotten back to me on this issue. i have several receipts for parts that were replaced on the car and can provide them upon request the receipts have the part numbers on them. *tr

 Acceleration would occur when in park position. it would also occur at traffic lights, without pressing the gas. this lead to the cadillac converter to malfunction and fail, next the water pump went out, the o2 sensor, and various belts. my truck is a 2001 dodge dakota with only 78,000 miles, the repairs will reach 2000.00 i have had the vehicle looked at and was told that a vehicle with these low miles should not occur. the cadillac converter is a ca emissions one, which is expensive. this should had never happened, my truck is driven 10 miles a day. *tr

 This complaint is concerning a local dealership not wanting to work on out factory recall, although they do have chrysler certified mechanics. on 2/4/09 we took our dodge sprinter van vin# to our only local chrysler/dodge house to have the factory recalled part (crankshaft position sensor) fixed. the people at the local dealer said, those vehicles are too difficult to work on and we wont do it, try another town or dealer. we will not take the vehicle using our gas several hundred miles to the next chrysler dealer to have this fixed when we have a perfectly certified dealership here that should resolve this problem. i contacted the 1-800# on the back of the recall form and spoke to someone whom did not speak clear english and was not able to help us fix this problem, so i contacted the local bbb to report this complaint. the local bbb referred me to email you first since the email address is located on the bottom of the recall form, and contract another auto 1-800#. it clearly states on the recall notice that our local dealer should order the part, and fit us in to have it fixed no problem. we feel mechanics at the local dealership are busy and simply don't want to mess with this. our safety is the main concern, and we would like this fixed as soon as possible. please let me know asap if you received our complaint, and if so what steps will be taken to help with this situation. thank you for your help in advance. *tr

 Serpentine belt slipping. i have owned several year models of caravan and have found this problem to be constant with all. during rain or other water on the road condition, the serpentine belt slips enough to interfere with vehicle operations until the water is displaced from the belt. if a driver is not paying close attention or is using the cruise control at the time, the driver could lose control of the power steering, electrical problems with the alternator, or lose of engine power to the drive axles. this item should be studied and remedied to prevent future occurrences. if the fix can be retrofitted to previous years, the manufacturer should provide the repairs at no cost to the owner. this condition began with the purchase date through today. this problem is not contained to one engine size. *tr

 I have a 2006 dodge charger with 47,000 miles on it. when i went to my mechanic to have the tires rotated (goodyear), they advised me that the steering tie rod (rt side) was so badly worn they did not even want me to drive it home ( i have saved the part). it is a sealed unit and should not need any lubrication other than what was initially designed into the part. obviously if one loses steering ability at speed the consequences could be significant. interestingly, the mechanic told me that i got the last one available in the milwaukee area. it makes me wonder if all the others were used for a similar replacement defect and/or it is being redesigned. *tr

 I purchased a 2000 dodge ram 1500 new in 2000. at 50,000 miles the dash began to crack at 2 yrs old. although i purchased an extended warranty to 75k miles, i was informed by a dealer that trim and upholstery was not covered. now the dash has completely failed, a huge hole has emerged, it rattles this has caused the defrost vent not work properly and possibly the passenger airbag may be compromised due to the dash becoming unsecure because the plastic has broken from around the screws. i recently went to another dealer to get a quote of over $1000 to repair. the dealer tells me that chrysler has been fixing these trucks if the original owner still owns it regardless of warranty expiration. because of the product failure. so i then call the 800 number given only to be told that it is basically too late now because my truck is 8 yrs old. this was hard to swallow because i tried to repair it under my extended warranty when only 2 yrs old. i am very, very dis-satisfied with the product and service of chrysler corp. i know that there are literally thousands of have experienced the same problem and i look at every truck the same body style as mine, and they all have cracked dashes. i went online to find several websites of dodge owners with the same problem with warranty and service. this is a factory defect that chrysler should at least offer a substantial amount of assistance with the repair or lower the cost of the parts to repair so that people can afford them. *tr

 I have a dodge neon sxt 2003, the service engine light came on while driving home from work. i went straight to the dealer where i bought the car. they told me to take it to pep boys to have the computer put on it and it would tell me what was wrong with it and bring it back to the dealer. i didn't do that, i took it some where else to have it checked. it was the purge solenoid that had gone bad. so i took it back to the dealer and they asked me what i found out with it, i told them i did but i wasn't telling them what i found out, it was their job to find out and when they find out to let me know so i would see if the problem match with what i found out. they claimed they couldn't find a problem . a month later i took it back because it still was taking to much gas to fill up the vehicle, this time they found out what was wrong they did find it was the purge solenoid that had gone bad. i have a 7-year 70,000 mile warranty on the neon. the dealer told me it wasn't covered and that i would have to pay 479.00 for the part not including the labor. did i mention that the neon is a 2003 and when the solenoid went the car only had 28,000 miles on it and right now it has only 31,500. i would like to know if there is a recall on this car for that part. i am looking into buying a honda or a toyota. i have had it with car. as many repairs that i have had done i think i would have two cars in my driveway by now. *tr

 2007 dodge caliber have had this car since june 2006. in the 14 months i have had it on average it seems at least once a month i have to take time out of my schedule/work to go to the dealership drop it off and explain the same repeat problems. this not only takes time but i also have to make other arrangements for transportaion. the car has had a grinding type noise upon ignition since i bought it along with the engine constantly wanting to stall upon slow down or complete stops and then trying to accelorate again. this has caused me to nearly be rearended and or hit numerous times. each time i have had it in the service center i am told the grinding noise can not be detected. i pick the car up and no sooner than i get home and leave again it happens. as for the stalling i was told it was the power controll module and it was replaced and they considered it repaired. this was in january, it is september and still this is happening more and more often. i have had it back numerous times. there are many other problems with this vehicle that the service center has told me was'nt a problem or they have corrected and it continues. *tr

 My van is a 2000 dodge grand caravan. i had the serpentine belt and belt tensioner replaced on dec. 2005. on july 7, 2007 (18 months later) the van's serpentine belt frayed and had to be replaced. on july 29, 2007 (22 days later) the serpentine belt slipped off, the van lost power steering (also the battery warning light came on.) i was driving on interstate 64. the road condition went from dry to very wet due to a summer rainstorm. i had the van towed to a repair shop and was told this happens frequently to the dodge vans. i search on the internet for this problem and found a web site. http://www.carsurvey.org/viewmorecomments_review_30931_4.html on this very dangerous problem. if my van had stalled out while on the interstate during the rainstorm a serious accident could have occurred. this is a problem that the chrysler / dodge automobile company needs to investigate. pulling off the road every time the road is wet is not realistic way to solve this problem. *tr

 2005 dodge ram 1500 p/u truck bought new in 12/2005...brought to dealer @ 5,655 miles with warped rotors, causing the truck to shake when braking. brake rotors were cut...problem temporarily solved. returned to dealer @ 9,712 miles....for the same problem. this time the rotors were replaced...but the original brake pads were re-installed. at 17,000 miles....trucks begins to shake again while braking... returned to the same dealer @ 20,727 miles...they said the front rotors were warped again...though it was out of warranty. after i expressed unhappiness with their answer, they did take another look at the vehicle. they said the front seemed to be ok....and now the rear rotors were warped, though of course it is not covered any longer by the factory warranty. at this point, the truck is 15 months old...has slightly over 20,000 miles and is not safe to drive...with no help from dodge. *jb

 I own a 2006 dodge 1 ton crew cab truck. during the month of december i started to experience wheel bouncing when a hit a bump at speeds over 60 miles per hour. i contact the local dodge dealer, they look at it and said nothing was wrong. on december 20, 2006 i hit a bump on the interstate at nearly 70 miles per hour that put my truck into an uncontrollable shake, nearly hit the car next to me and slide sideways to a stop. very lucky that others were not hit or that i did not roll. i had the truck towed to springfield, mo and took it to central dodge. they immediately said it was the front steering stabilizer shock and that they have had numerous other incidents involving this part without even looking at the truck. they change the part and the problem is fixed, but something was troubling as the tech said he would replace it with something stiffer and stronger as they can only replace it with a factory part that he said has been a problem and is not big enough. *nm

 When i left the house the car was ok, i drove to my friend house the car started making a real loud noise. i shut the car off. it wouldn't start up again, i had to have it tow to shop where i bought it. i was told the timing chain was out and it would be cheaper to get another engine. now this is where the fun being. we had a difficult time finding a engine. once we did and had it put in the car, it didn't work. we brought the engine from t&m auto salvage in canton. they put another engine in the car. i drove the car about 3 months when it starting making a strange noise the warranty had expired. therefore, we took the car to the dodge dealership. they had the car a month or two. they told me they steamed clean the engine because it was sludge build up and they had to take the engine apart to replace the timing chain. now the car still isn't working correctly for whatever reason we can not afford to find out. *jb

 In early august of 2004 i purchased a 2004 dodge neon sxt with only 8 miles on it. since december of 2004 i have had problems with the engine missing. for example the car shakes when sitting or driving and is having trouble at times getting speed when you press down of the accelerator. so i took the car in january 2005 to cornell dodge in oakland, california at which time it has reached a little over 5,000 miles. the service advisor told me that the car was fine and there were no problems detected by the computer and to return later to get my scheduled oil change. having continued to have the same problem i took the car back to the cornell dodge for my scheduled oil change and 16-point inspection in june 2005. they still found nothing wrong with the car. since i have continually been having the same problem, which was not resolved by cornell dodge

 I was turning left into a parking lot when the passenger side outer tie rod broke. this caused an immediate stop as the wheel turned in. the vehicle steering was last inspected in july 2005 (va state safety inspection) and the vehicle has been well maintained. the tie rod broke at the tapered stud. this did result in a lost of steering. there would have been serious consequences had this happened at higher speed. the inner and outer tie rods were replaced as well as the unbroken drivers side outer tie rod.*jb

 After driving approximately 12 miles to work the car was pulled into a parking space and while straightening the wheels a loud pop was heard and the car had no steering. the inspection revealed that (2) two 1/2 inch threaded bolts (that bolt the tie rods to the steering rack had sheared off. one of the tie rod bushings was gone and the area the bushing was in was extremely worn, requiring replacement. the rack and pinion was replaced on this vehicle at 20,000 miles under warranty. the car was repaired by removing the rack, backing out the old bolt ends and installing new bolts. the one tie rod was replaced. i contacted chrysler corporation customer service and they offered no help on the repair. the district rep was ask to help and he denied any help. (he did not even look at the damage. i was told that he would not over rule detriot). *jb

 We have a dodge 2001 intrepid with the 2.7 liter motor. according to other mechanics and personnel within the dealership, there are defects with this motor that chrysler refuses to address. it has to do with internal components and causes the motor to basically blow up. our first motor blew up at 83,000 miles and the dealership installed a different motor with 58,000 miles which blew up again 3 weeks later. today, september 19, 2005, we were to take possession of our repaired car with its third motor within 2 months and were asked to pay a portion of the bill because the dealership claims that this repair was due to a faulty water pump even though the water pump and the timing chain assembly are one and the same on this vehicle. it is my opinion that these 2.7 liter motors are defective as thousands can attest on the internet, chrysler knows they are defective but dahmer refuses to act responsibly because they purchased the company after the defect originated. these 2.7 motors which are sitting on the shelf at junkyards across the country have become worse because the passage of time sitting on the shelf and are worse than the original motors put in them. furthermore, our extended warranty company, triad advantage, foreseeing the problems to come, shut down, went out of business and took the money and ran when these claims were becoming apparent. *nm

 I bought a 2005 dodge magnum on april 9. on april 15 i had to have it towed because the check engine light came on while stopped at red light. when i took off the car was sluggish and would not change gears. the car was stuck in second gear. the dealer had the car from april 15 until april 29. they never did explain what caused the problem. i can't tell you what all they replaced because my car is in the shop now. this happened in june july and august all under the same circumstances. i contacted chrysler and a man named larry mcclain contacted me. he was in touch with the dealer every time they had the car. he always returned my call until this time when i said the car fell under the nc lemon law. each time the dealer has had the car it was something different replaced. i was told the third time that a service bulletin had been issued because moisture could build up in a solenoid in the transmission and cause it to fail. this is what they replaced the third time. this time i have no idea because no one will call me back. all i was told today when i went by there was the part they replaced didn't fix the problem. the dealership is anderson's in waynesville. i bought the car at thomas hll burgin in kodak tn and i have tried to contact the general manager gene morris but he will not return my calls either. no one will help me.*jb

 I ave a 2001 dodge intrepid and at just under100k the engine seized up and blew the head gasket. i then purchased another engine that cost me $2500 14 months ago. this new engine had 40k on it. that engine has now seized up and blown the head gasket. i was in a parking lot and a lady came up to me and asked if i have had any problems with my intrepid because she has the same one and just had to replace the engine. when are they going to be responsible for producing such a poor product that they charge tens o thousands of dollares for. when it wasgetting towed the guy said that he tows a ton of these. i have done some research and the 2.7 liter engine has had tons of problems.

 I was driving home from work when the front right tire appeared to blowout causing the car to skid in the curb. my husband came and put the little spare on and i was to take it a dodge dealer the next morning for them to inspect the tire for abnormalities, etc. about a half block from the original blowout the car suddenly swerved into the center lane and the front end appeared to drop and i gained control of the car and got it to the right lane and the car stopped without me putting it in park. i then put it in park and got out to see what it was and found that the spare tire had broken off the axel and was pushed into the wheel well and the front end of the car was actually sitting on the ground with all the fluids draining out into the street. i heard and felt a loud crunch sound thinking someone had either hit me or i hit somebody else. unfortunately, that was not the case. i had the car towed and it will arrive at the dealership in the morning for them to assess the damage to the engine, transmission, frame and and wheel axels. i have had no other complaint with my car except for the radio/cd player which was replaced with a new player.....the radio however is still not working right. i was not hurt during either incident, but, i do believe seeing the damage to the car was some kind of defect in order to create that sort of damage. i would appreciate any help that someone may be able to offer or at least investigate the car. thank you very much for timely attention into this matter.

 On february 6, 2004 my 1999 dodge dakota had both the upper and lower ball joints on both the driver and passenger sides replaced because of excessive wear and deterioration. the truck had 46,500 miles at that time and is driven under normal road conditions. it is not used commercially. the cost for repairs came to $1078. subsequently, on march 4, 2005 i had to have to have my upper ball joints replaced on both sides, again because of wear and deterioration. the cost to repair was $338. it would appear that the original ball joints used by dodge are sufficiently lacking in quality, and so are the replacement parts, as well. *ak

 Oil leakage, head gasket replaced 2x in 1997, again head gasket is blown, cam and transmission leakage also. car has always leaked a bit of oil daily; however, oil changes every 2000 miles coupled with weekly level checks maintained ability to drive vehicle. as of 2/05, oil leaking profusely via passenger portion of engine gasket. mechanic confirms blown head gasket, says this is a known defect of the neons as a whole. i have chosen to not repair head gasket at my expense at this time. i purchased vehicle new in oct. 1996, as a new year neon for 1997. i maintained the vehicle meticiously, and both the body and interior are in excellent condition (body has no rust). car has 88,000 miles currently. i am very disappointed in dodge's lack of concern and responsibility in producing a quality car. i bought this new and had hope to transfer it to my daughter who will be leaving for college soon. replacing a headgasket twice should assure me, the buyer, that i can maintain my car without suddenly finding out this was a damaged vehicle from the get go, and now i have to find alternate transportation to work while i set time aside to quickly find another car. shame on dodge!*ak

 Ball joint failure --- dodge avenger in jan 04, i had the lower ball joints replaced on my 96 dodge avenger. while driving home from work, the left ball joint failed while going into a turn on the highway.*ak fortunately i avoid a collision with the center median and other vehicles. i have pictures of the ball joint. a claim was filed with the garage that made the repair and their insurance provider. more details are available if necessary. there are some similarities between this and the durango. - front left - around 30,000 miles (after repair) please let me know if this is related or not. -ron henderson

 This has been an ongoing situation since about 35000 miles. under extended warranty the dealer replaced all most all of the front end parts on my 99 ram 1500 4wd. most recently this truck failed the new your state inspection for wobble in the steering box output shaft. this steering box was replaced by the dealer about 9600 miles before. the truck had a lot of play in the steering and the wheel was at about 1:30 instead of 12:00. three mechanics and myself saw the play. this garage told me to take it back to the dealer as it would be under warranty. i did this and had to leave the truck for them to check.i was told by the service manager that there was no play and no repairs were needed.the truck wheel was now at12: 00 and it was hard to steer with no return to center. i talked to the service manager and he said that there were no adjustments to the steering box and that the only adjustment to the allignment was toe in so he said that my truck had derveloped memory steering and that the steering was really tight and that i should not complain. not satisfied as i had seen the play myself i replaced the steering box and lo and behold the steering was like new. easy returns to center and the steering wheel is centered. what i found out about the deffective steering box was that the over center adjustment was 1 turn too tight and that the worm shaft preload was too tight and the pitman arm seals were replaced with new seals and they used chassis lube which was new and clean.all this while saying that there were no repairs needed or done. the pitman shaft bearing was worn between .045 and.057 the new seals took up the play. my question would be if nemer dodge service does this kind of repair and says that they did nothing to keep from having to pay for warranty work what else are they doing. it should be noted that my son ,an inexperienced driver as he is just now getting his liscence, could not keep this truck on the road. he needed to use two lanes to drive. *ak

 The following is regarding a 1999 dodge ram 2500 van and failure of tie rods. at approximately 30,000 miles both outer tie rod ends were replaced by a dealer for torn rubber boots. at approximately 64,000 miles another tie rod failure occurred. this time it was the adjusting sleeve. the sleeve had become loose on the tie rod end and had developed sufficient movement to wear the threads down to the point where total failure (separation) of the tie rod was imminent. this occurred approximately 3,000 miles after a state inspection and with very little warning. because the vehicle has power steering (which has a very dead feeling), the tie rod had to be very near failure before its effect could be felt in the steering. obviously i feel this is a serious defect because tie rod separation while moving is going to result in a loss of control (go right into the ditch or worse go left into oncoming traffic). while my degree is in electrical engineering, i feel i have had enough mechanical experience and experience working on cars to offer the following comment. i think dodge's design with a sleeve that is split its entire length and depends solely on the clamps for integrity is very poor. for example, mitsubishi uses a solid adjusting section with two jam nuts. toyota again uses a solid section that is split only at the ends where the clamps are used to prevent rotation. both of the latter two designs allow for a more positive engagement of the threads. *la

 I bought this van new in 1997 just after buying the van there was ticking noise coming from the engine i feel it is the lifters but dealership says no it was the fuel purge valve. the noise countinues to get worse and i am sure the noise is the lifters when i change the oil to 10w-30 the noise goes away. the oxygen sensor was replaced at approx 50k miles. the van has recently been in the shop for the transmission two or three time since november 2003 aprox. 90,000 miles on it. the transmission was hanging up in second gear when dodge retuned to me the transmission shuttered while driving. vehicle is now in the shop for the transmission again it is leaking from the output shaft seals and while in park when starting the vehicle the van jerks foward like the trasmission is still engaged. this all happens while in park. sometimes when the vehicle is shifted from drive to park if the accelorator is pressed the vehicle jumps / jerks foward this seems to be a safety issue as my wife and i have three children that sometimes walk in front of the van to get in when we go off as a family. my check engine light came on just hours before i returned to the dealer for transmission service and it is the egr valve failure that caused the ckeck engine light to come on. the dealership tried to put the transmission off as that but i am also a mechanic the egr valve has nothing to do with the transmissionacting as if it is engage although it is acually in park.this is not good practice to lie about a serious problem with the vehicle. also the transmission leak was caused from the first removal of the transmission and chrysler warranty department said the leak would not be covered this is also very digusting when you remove an axle the seal should be replaced before you reinstall the transmission. the dealer is still trying to find out what is wrong with my transmission. the water pump has failed and also the cooling fan relay failed for the engine cooling system.*ak

 1997 dodge grand caravan car serpentine belt was making noise. was told it was worn and needed to be replaced. replaced serpentine belt. drove car in heavy rain, serpentine belt fell off. towed car to dealer replaced belt and sent me on my way. same day drove car in heavy rain, serpentine belt fell off. towed car to dealer. dealer checked with chrysler on fixes. installed a clip. this was suppose to solve my problems. no heavy rain for a while. then, drove my car in heavy rain, serpentine belt fell off again. towed car to dealer. was told they were going to replace the tensioner and that was pretty much all they could do. they suggested that i don't drive the car into puddles. we all know that this is impossible. stated to the dealer, that i drove through puddles with no problems before they replaced the serpentine belt. i've only had this problem since it was replaced. they did not have a answer for me, again they said you shouldn't be driving in puddles. i asked if i cannot drive in puddles what am i supposed to do. they said turn around and find a different route. i find this hard to believe. what if i'm on a highway? should i turn around? i've done some searching on the web and have found that i am not the only person who owns a caravan that is having this problem. *la

 We purchased this vehicle used in august 2001. after two months of having the vehicle we had to replace the serpentine belt, which broke as soon as i turned a corner,(we were told the dealership, maroone toyota in weston, fl sould see nothing wrong) we then had to have the vehicle looked at as our engine light came on (we were told there was nothing wrong with the engine) within the next 2 years of having this car, we have replaced the serpentine belt 4 addiotnal times, we have had the motor in the driver door break and we cannot get that window down, we have the warning lights come on for the air bag system (which i just noted is a recall issue that i never received notice), we have just experienced the a/c breaking down, wich looks in turn that this will be a problem with the pulley or system it is attched to ( a coil problem). we have 3 small children and i must admit that this has been the worst experience that i have ever encountered with a used vehicle. we have had nothing but complications with this vehicle - i should have returned thevehicle and count my blessings, i'm afraid the next time something goes wrong with this vehicle - it may cost us ourlives. can someone please contact me and tell me my options.*ak

 Had to have a pair of struts replaced on car at 37,928 miles, then had to have sway bar bushings ends replaced, then had to have left strut replaced again and, now it is still making the same noise on the front end. i have taken it to my car mechanic (firestone) ,and have paid almost $800.00 for these problems, and it is still not fixed. they have replaced the left strut for free but it is still broken. i have called dodge about this problem and they told me to buy a extended warranty! i am taking the car back to my mechanic again tomorrow and see if it is the same problem, which i think it is the struts again. i am so frustrated. how do i get help for this same recurring problem with this car?*ak

 Truck bounces out of control when hitting small and large bumps in the road. loss of steering control and very dangerous. also, truck pulls to the right constantly. i was told by the dealer in waterville maine, that this is normal for a 4x4. every time i bring it in for service, i complain, but i'm made to feel like it's all in my head. once they replaced the rack, and tried new tires, but it made no difference. under no circumstances can i release the steering wheel, and i'm hyperviglent of every approaching bump. other people who have driven my truck, with me with them experience the same normal problems. i've had the truck for just over a year now, and the problems haven't gotten worse, but remain constant. i will never buy another dodge product, and i am very unhappy with the treatment from the dealer. if i wasn't to lose so much money, i would have traded it in 3 months after i bought it. as far as i am concerned, this truck is a lemon. for several months after i bought this truck, i polled every owner of the same truck, when it was convienent, and i received more simalar problems than not.*ak

 Brakes on our 2000 grand caravan go out on us about once every 3-6 months since we purchased it brand new in july 2000. master cylinder has been replaced more than once, brakes have been bled, abs pump has been replaced, and we are now leaking fluid and ready to have it serviced again. this is a family vehicle that i don't always feel safe driving my two small children in. we only have 17,800 miles on the van, i wonder if we drove it more often if we would be in the shop even more frequently.three times i have gone to pull out of my driveway and have almost ended up in the neighbor across the streets yard. the dealership where the van was purchased has not done anything to accomodate us and won't even give us a good deal on a trade-in so that we can get rid of it.

 I bought a 1998 dodge caravan from falls church motors falls church va after a couple of months of driving i started to notice and feel a wobble in the front left drivers front tire a few months later i had a flat while the van was parked it took me and two other men to loosen the lugs on the tire to get of the tire the jack while the van in the air bent and the van fell to the side i pulled one of the men away from the van as i saw it falling toward us we got another jack and got the van back up in the air and put the donut on i than a short time later got on the highway and the donut flew off the van if it were in traffic it could have killed me and other on the highway a couple of month later the timing belt broke and the water pump i thought the van was still under warrant of the extended warranty from falls church motors i later found out it was not they i thought fixed the timing belt it has been running rough ever since the van now while running the motor turns off while any sharp turn to the left or right they said to me in the recent past after i thought they fixed it . it's not going to run like new i feel this dealer ship did sell me a defective van and unsafe parts on the vehicles and some other vehicles they are selling maybe endangering other peoples life i met one man at a gas station he said he had a transmission problem right away and it slipping after he bought it. *tr

 Item: automobile scissor jack (applies to all models/make) event: i almost moved a car lifted by a scissor jack, but at the last second, i stopped and noticed the missing wheel and scissor jack. suggestion: currently, most vehicles comes with a dark color (black, blue) scissor jack. this causes total lack of visibility at night , as well as stranded in the highway at high speed by other vehicles. my advice is to encourage manufacturers to use reflective paint/labels on the scissor jacks to make them more visible, therefore, reducing potential accident and improve osha communication standards. this will improve a safe environment to towing drivers, mechanics, emergency crews, police, firemen, and vehicle owners. a scissor jack, as most are, painted dark to keep the low profile during storage. however, it does not aid for a total safe operation for tire replacement. additional visibility can be added if manufacturers paint them in bright colors (approved by dot), corporate logos, etc. it has to be a color that contract with the other vehicle parts, pavement, and grounds. contact me for additional information/suggestion on the above. *tr

 Braking system of 2009 dodge journey is defective, replaced once and replacing again as rotors are warping due to thin material. if i do not pay to replace the rotors, i will certainly lose control of the vehicle if i need to make immediate stop because the vehicle shakes violently when braking. dodge is making no effort to recall or repair the faulty rotors and there is no other manufacturer that makes rotors for this vehicle.

 2004 dodge ram 1500 slt with hemi 5.7 engine - 61k miles. until now i have been very happy with the truck. it is a pleasure truck and has never hauled anything. i have done eveything to maintain the truck perfectly. i had the gsr valve replaced as the check engine light came on. ever since then the truck just quits and stalls and has left me in very dangerous condition. i am afraid to drive the truck now. when it stalls it will not start or even turn over and has to be towed - twice now in a week. after some time the truck starts and the mechanics have been unable to find anything wrong. this truck is dangerous and i am afraid to drive on any interstate. what can i do?? *tr

 On 2-12-2007 nhtsa issue a recall on 2006 dodge 1500,for the front hub suspension:wheel bearing.i was notified of the recall from the dodge dealership where i purchased my truck. so i was unaware of the recall. in july of 2009 i was returning from vacation and i was in south carolina and i started having trouble with my truck so i found a mechanic shop, they told that the front hubs were messed up and needed to be replaced, it was late in the afternoon and the mechanic was only able to find one hub so he replaced the worst one of the two and told me that the other one would get me home. once i got home i took the truck to my dodge dealership and they replaced the other side and also advised me that the rearend was out of the truck and they repaired that. about two weeks later i find out that there was a recall on the front hub so i call the dealership and they told me that my truck was not one of the vehicle under the recall. i don't understand how my truck was not under the recall when the same thing went wrong with my truck the is listed on the recall. i don't know where else to go with this so please advise me with what direction to take this is not the first problem i have had with dodge. i want to thank you in advance for your assistant. *tr

 A firestone in tacoma diagnosed my car with needing a replacement fuel pump assembly and fuel filter. after repairs had been made i requested the service advisor give me the boxes for the new parts. she however was reluctant to do so but did after i explained to her that i also i was concerned with certain brand names because i saw recall on fuel filters on the internet. however i did not have the print out on me with recall information. she informed me she was not aware of any recalls on fuel pumps or fuel filters. after returning home i researched the products from (carquest) put on my car and my findings were that the fuel pump assembly part number e71113m was listed by airtex as recall #fp72007-1 and as recall #nhtsa campaign number 07e055000. the fuel filter part number r86523 also sold by carquest and placed on my car is listed by nhtsa as recall 09e043000 and affinia group is recalling the fuel filters the safety recall on that product began august 1, 2009. the number listed for the fuel filter also ties back to a gentleman by the name carlos santana 508 279-8205 he is with icp global solutions. my complaint is my car was just repaired on yesterday 9-24-09 by firestone whom put aftermarket fuel filter and assembly and fuel filter on my car and the products/part numbers are listed under recall. how do i go about getting the proper products put on my car and notify the appropriate parties that carquest are still selling defected parts and firestone are putting defected parts on unsuspecting consumers vehicles? verna garner tacoma, wa. *tr

 I bought a 2010 dodge journey and have had many issue. first the alignment has always gone towards the right and has been in the shop twice and they said it was fine. i have always had problems with the nav and computer music system. the newest and worst issue is in less than 2 weeks has stopped while i was driving. i took it in the first time and the service said they rebooted the computer and it was fine. few days later i was going 40 down the road and the car shut off again. both times the car is in drive and the key is in. it is now back in the shop and i am afraid the airbags are not going to work. i am afraid that i will be hit and injured. i have 4 year old twin boys. dodge/chrysler is not helpful at all. i am afraid to drive the car. it is back in the shop and for a car less than a year old, i feel it should work. i don't know what to do.

 I have a 2006 dodge charger (hemi)the car wont' shift out of park. i can crank it and all but when i go to move it into gear . nothing . it's stuck. if this happens really often and the cheap peice of plastic is an issue this should be considered as a recall and to make a better stronger proper part other than a plastic milk top piece that can keep a 20,000 dollar car from fuctioning. please help. this has occurred twice to me at $370 the first time and $150 the second time . this is ridiculous and darn sure costly for the same part. parts replaced was a simple pink plastic. well i be d....(darn). ;-( i am sooooo not happy.

 Power steering on 1992 dodge 230 xplorer m.h. van. had van taken to hemet chrysler in hemet calif. and they determined that the steering gear box needed replacement. the service manager and service writer adamantly state there is absolutely nothing wrong with the vehicle after they stated they replaced the box....yet....the steering is exactly the same as when i had the vehicle taken to them. i have since researched several sites with much information that chrysler has known for years that dodge cars (did not mention my van) have had steering problems and those problems have caused many accidents and some deaths. the wandering and looseness and very slow to return continues plus an added problem noted when they returned the van, a screaming of the steering wheel. checked the fluid and found it continuously leaks from day one of the vehicle returned to me. the vehicle was at their shop four times total. this dealership has adamantly refused to acknowledge the steering problem and denies the destruction of the roof assembly. i would like to know if your agency has any reports such as mine concerning the dodge steering problems and in particular the dealership of hemet chrysler in hemet california. i am seeking clear information relative to the steering of all chrysler/dodge products with emphasis on the vans used for motor homes in and since 1992, thank you. *tr

 The serpentine belt falls off and the vehicle must be towed. this is even after we paid to have a bracket installed & tensioner per tsb to prevent this from reoccurring. this is the second time the belt has fallen off. chrysler should not provide a product in which the vehicle must be towed due to a design defect. chrysler should not provide a service which would lead the consumer to believe that the design defect is remedied. ( is this not fraud?) also, this failure mode causes a situation in which the vehicle must be towed - how is this not a safety issue?*ak

 I own a 2002 dodge caravan se 3.3 liter engine. since i have had this vehicle,(bought in august 2003) i have had to buy new tires, had to have the tires rotated & balanced 4 times and because of the popping noise have to have the sway bar bushings replaced and have a new rotor and brakes replaced. the vibration due to the brakes wearing and rotors is unreal and know i am not the only person having the brake and rotor problem. there has been only 15,000 miles put on these brakes and are having to have them replaced again. something is not right and this needs to be checked into. thank you. *la

 I have had to purchase at least 3 gas fuel pumps for my 94 dodge dakota for three years in a row. i've taken it to the dodge dealer each time an it seems to be the same problem every time. i only use one gas station when i'm not traveling and just in my neighborhood . i have used the same type of gas 1993 premium and gas station amoco since ownership of the vehicle. the dealer has been very helpful and has not charged me this time for the work. but they can't seem to find out why i'm having this problem with the vehicle. how can i find out if there is some other defective part that might be causing the problem, or find out if there is a defect with the gas fuel pumps for that vehicle. i couldn't find anything on your site.*ak

 While passing a van on 4 lane highway was hit by another van that ran stop sign and pushed front end of 1998 dodge club cab p/u into the front seat area. my vehicle was totalled resulting in injuries to myself and step son. neither air bag deployed. informed chrysler of accident and the results(injuries) and they more or less laughed at me because the insurance company had already sold my vehicle for scrap. without the vehicle they said they could do nothing for me. i'm not the only one who has had problems with air bags on this chrysler product. i informed chrysler that i had pictures of the truck but that wasn't sufficient for them. they are sorry people if ths is the way they treat customers and do business.

 I've had 2 sets of cooper tires (cooper cs4-215/50r17 95 vput ) on my car in the past 3 years, plus 1 tire replaced in 9 months from date-of-purchase after the original tire from the 2nd set was destroyed, blown-out, from weakness in the tire. total of 9 tires in the past 3 years. each and every tire has been shown to be weak and frequently leak air; they also wear down quickly. the 1st set lasted me 47k miles before needing to be replaced. the 2nd set has been on my car a year( feb '10-mar '11), and i've had nothing but problems with them since they were installed. i have made frequent trips back to the tire retailer that installed them (blain's farm & fleet) for tire repairs. i believe these tires are too expensive ($145/tire) and are very defective. this indeed is a safety hazard, and a money waster.

 Resonator failure on a 2006 dodge sprinter (winnebago view). when the resonator breaks, it poses a significant danger of an accident occurring due to the sudden and complete loss of engine power. this sudden rapid deceleration without any warning sign of any kind causes a serious and unacceptable safety hazard not only to us but also to any other person on the road. it has broken down on may 17, 2007, may 27, 2009 and august 17, 2010. repair was made by replacing the resonator.

 I got a 2004 dodge intrepid and i had it for six months and the car had 53k miles on when i got it . i had to buy a transmission 3,500 dollars and 3 months later the motor went out i call dodge they told me that they would not help me so please help me because the car is a lemon i cant keep spending money on the car every month the car is worth 5,600 dollars the loan with transmission is 12thousand dollars so please help me because they want admit that the car is junk. *tr

 Air filter failure cause filter to suck up into turbo and damage turbo. manufacturer district manager will not honor warranty on vehicle citing that i am to blame even though there was less than 200 miles of use on the filter and filter was bought through a dodge dealership. *jb

 I have had ongoing problems with my 1996 dodge neon sport, it has been inoperable for the last year or so, due to electrical problems and stalling which i believe stem from the wiring harness. i have had the brakes replaced a few times, the a/c replaced, fuel injection acts up and the fuel gauge fluctuates, my transmission has started slipping, power steering and exhaust are leaking, numerous oil leaks, rear lights/ brake lights have not worked in over a year, driverside window broke along the extending arm inside of the door frame, trunk release is broken and my cruise control is broken! for the last 4months my car has been sitting at atlanta dodge llc! just after leaving it with their service department, i received a call saying i needed a new battery and until it was replaced for $180 they could not do a diagnostic check for any other problems!! the battery was not even a year old and worked fine when i left the car at the dealership!! but in hopes of any decent service i bought another battery from advanced auto parts $40 and took it in myself. during this visit i reminded them that my make and model car was under a recall, they informed me that it was not!! i gave them the nhtsa recall documentation and was told that it didn't apply to my car, only to the neons from the plant in new mexico!! just after thanksgiving i decided to call them to find out what has been going on. i spoke with brian the cs rep. and he informed me that the mechanics could not figure out what was wrong with my car and refused to research any further unless i agreed to spend no less than $250 towards the repairs!! it's not a coincidence that the same parts are in need of repairs as 15,000 other neons -- regardless of which plant the vehicles were assemblied, the defects lie in the placement and/or manufacturing of the faulty parts and should be covered under any relating recalls! *nm updated 12/1505. *jb

 I purchased a 2008 dodge avenger about a year ago, a few days after i got the car the gear shift got stuck and i couldn't get the car out of park. i called the dealership and the sales guy who sold me my car told me that i was probably doing something wrong, about an 15mins later the car went in to drive, and i didn't think anything about it. today i tried to up my car in drive and it wouldn't going in to drive at all. i called the dealership and they told me that i had to go through dodge because i was out of the 30days. i then called the dodge dealership and he told me i would have to pay about $1300 to get my car fixed.
