While filling the fuel tank, a fire erupted due to the fumes coming from the tank, possibly from static electricity. the next day i took the van in to my local dodge distributor to check out the integrity of the fuel tank ( no damage was visible, even to the paint) and they suggested i let them install a ground strap on fuel filler neck of the fuel tank. i agreed, and asked why something like that was not already in place, but did not receive a satisfactory answer. i would like to check for recalls on dodge caravans for ground straps on the fuel filler neck.
