My 2010 challenger srt8 with automatic transmission stalled when making a right-hand turn at approximately 5:00 pm on 9/5/12. engine was at normal operating temperature and the ac was running. i was travelling at about 35 mph and began braking to make a right turn into a service station. as i started into the turn at about 10 mph, the engine stalled resulting in loss of brakes and power steering. i was able to complete the turn and stop the car with hard brake pressure. no indicator warning lights appeared on the instruments. i put the car in park and restarted the car, but the transmission was inoperative. neither drive or reverse would engage. i did not notice any warning or alert lights indicating a malfunction or transmission issue. i stopped and restarted the engine again and the transmission engaged and worked normally. there were 6800 miles on car on 9/5/12. the vehicle was purchased 10 days ago, and tsbs were checked before the purchase. no mention of engine shutoff issues are listed on the nhtsa database of tsbs or recalls. i did not check customer complaints. if i had, an knew to check about stalls, i would not have purchased this vehicle. considering the severity of this issue, the number of complaints on this database, and the fact this issue has been going on for the last 4 or more years, nhtsa should initiate a defect investigation immediately. more than one person has stated on this complaint forum that this is a life threatening condition and hopefully someone doesn't have to die to get dodge to solve this problem. too late. check out complaint 10395526. apparently someone did. but the complaint doesn't show injury or death and it should be corrected. *tr

I purchased a new 2010 dodge challenger in january 2010. the ceramic breaks began squeaking in april 2010. it occurs after the vehicle has been driven approximately 3 to 5 minutes and the breaks have heated up. i have taken the vehicle to 3 different places over 6 visits and during each oil change and the same results are: your breaks are good, no replacement needed, we removed some dust (in 2 cases, the removed some type of fluid) and your breaks are fine. no one would replace them while they were under the 12k mile warranty and now, i currently sit at 15k -- with these annoying, high pitched, squeally breaks. please look into other complaints from people with challengers (2010) and break problems. thank you.

I have a 2010 dodge challenger r/t with a serious brake defect at only 15,000 miles. i am one of many who have had to replace the front rotors on my vehicle due to severe warpage. i was aware of this problem from other owners and i've done my best to baby the brakes to avoid this problem from happening, yet it happened anyway. in my opinion, it is obvious that the front brake rotors provided on this car are inferior and not capable of stopping the car under normal driving conditions for an extended period of time (past the 12,000 mile warranty coverage). as a result, my car is unsafe to drive due to the uncontrollable vibrations at highway speeds and extensive time/distance needed to stop the vehicle. this seems not to be the case with the srt model which uses thicker rotors. i implore your organization investigate this serious safety defect in the se and r/t dodge challenger models asap. thank you very much.

This is 4th or 5th time this issue has happened, have brought it to the dealer and they have come up with nothing. there are several complaints on nhtsa about this issue, as well as thousands online, yet the dealer states they are unaware of the issue. normal driving conditions, slowing down to make a turn and the vehicle completely shuts off and i lose power steering and power braking. the car becomes very hard to maneuver and stop. the car was stopped in an intersection, and thankfully the approaching cars were far enough away to slow down and stop. i then put the car in park and start it up and drive off with no other issues. this intermittent stalling is becoming a very dangerous issue and should be looked into further before someone is seriously injured, if they haven't been already.
