The car would lose all power within a 10th of mile after filling up with gasoline. the car gives no warning signals, but stalls out. this happen also when the fuel tank was a fourth of tank of gas. the car would restart, within minutes after placing it in park. ( remind you i am sitting in middle of highway with no tail lights, or flashers) this is a major concern of mine. i was lucky that i did not get rear ended when the car stalled during rush hour traffic. the next day, i took the car to the dealership to have the problem checked and fixed. i was informed the fuel tank canister had a valve that was operating incorrectly causing the problem. the fuel tank and canister needed to be replaced. the total cost to me was $1548.00. the cost was high, but the chance of getting into a wreck and causing injuries was worth the price to fix to me. i feel since has been a problem with other 2006 chargers an investigation of the part needs to happen before someone does get killed.

The engine stalls after i fill the fuel tank to its full capacity. this stalling usually occurs within a block or so after leaving the gas station. i then have to sit on the side of the road, or in the middle of the road and wait a few minutes before the engine will re-start. lately, i have not filled the gas tank to its full capacity. i feel this is a real safety issue. i understand that this is a problem with the rollover valve on the top of the fuel tank and the only way to correct this issue is to have the fuel tank replaced. *tr

After fueling my 2006 dodge charger r/t, the car will begin to sputter and completely shut-off. this results in the loss of power steering and having to put the car into park in order to restart. it will occur multiple times, sometimes while idling, before it will begin to act normally.it has been happening for several months. at first, it was sporadic but now it is everytime i fill up the gas tank. it can be very dangerous as it can happen anytime and without warning. *tr

My car started dying after being filled at the gas station. it was very dangerous driving and slowing down to have it die. clearly there is a problem somewhere in the fuel system. *tr

Notice fuel smell in my garage. took to mechanic and found gas tank strap has punctured fuel tank on passenger side of vehicle. upon inspection found that gas tank strap is missing foam insulation between tank and strap. this vehicle is not driven in winter so it is very clear that this foam was not installed at factory. i have contacted chrysler to see if they will repair vehicle since it is out of warranty. looking up on internet there are pages of gas fumes from dodge chargers. this is a safety hazard since gas fumes are highly flamable.
