| 4 way flashes failed repeatedly (crushed wiring harness was discovered while looking for source of different problem). front brake rotors warped again & again. rotors turned 2-3 times, replaced once, then turned again. smoke coming from center a/c vents in dash. rear leaf springs were replaced. 2 days after smoking dash repair radiator fan would not shut off, requiring operator to open hood and pull approiate fuse. | |||

| I began to smell horrible antifreeze/musty smell (truck had always had musty smell, but this was much worse). it was so bad that i had to turn the heat off and roll the windows all the way down and keep them that way through the dead of winter because the first time i took it in, i was told nothing was wrong. the second time i took it in, i specifically asked them to look for an antifreeze leak. seeing as how they are mechanics, they should know this was a heater core problem. i obviously didn't know at the time. they told me nothing was wrong. the third time i took it in (by this time it had gotten to where heavy mist would come out of vents and fog up the entire cab), they told me it was mildew and charged me to clean and deoderize. what a ripoff since that was not the problem, my vehicle is under warranty, and it still stinks! i now have another appointment with a different (hopefully better) dealer since my warranty expires in three weeks and chrysler customer service told me i have to get it fixed before warranty expires or i will have to pay...even though the problem has been going on for 10 months and it is chryslers fault it is not already fixed. from what i understand, this is a huge problem with new dakota's. all you have to do is search heater core dakota on the internet and you'll come up with many complaints, most of which say that if chrysler finally admits there is a problem, then the person is still out of a vehicle for weeks at a time. honoring warranty also seems to be a huge problem with chrysler. i'll never buy another unless they change their attitude. *nlm | |||

| This vehicle was specifically ordered from dodge as a towing vehicle. the truck came with the factory installed towing package. however, there are no towing mirrors offered as an option. i do not think dodge should build towing vehicles without providing the availability to purchase such mirrors. i have notified dodge about the problem and all they say is there are no factory towing mirrors for the dakota trucks. yet they continue to offer factory installed towing packages. this policy does not make sense. if they do not offer towing mirrors for this model then they should not offer a towing package. i cannot even locate a towing mirror replacement only the universal strap on ones which do not work well. cipa offers a slide over towing mirror but not for the dodge dakota slt model that i have. please look into this.*ak | |||

| Is anyone reading these complaints on dakota brake rotors?!? i am on my 4th set of front rotors, which are already warped. each set goes about 10-11k untill needing resurfacing/ replacement.. my local dealership actually billed some of my visits for rotors in a manner that the dealership i bought it from can't even understand what was done. i no longer tow anything, trying to make the rotors last longer- why did i waste money ordering the heavyduty tow package? i am sick of these brakes, like so many other dakota owners. how many complaints does it take? nlm | |||

| Windshield and side windows on passenger side has stars in it and the manufacturer's rep said they have never seen anything like it but will investigate it further.they seem to bubble up and you can scrape the top off of them with a razor blade.one of the mechanics said they had a whole load of caravans that came in like that and they replaced all of the windows.dodge needs to stand behind it's productsand give the customer what they paid for because this vehicle was not cheap. | |||
