Defect SummaryOn certain pickup trucks equipped with manual transmissions, the headlamp and dash wiring harness may be chafed by the actuation of the clutch pedal. this could result in abnormal operation of the wipers, turn signals, horn or lighting systems.
Consequence SummaryThis could affect driver visibility, could prevent a driver from sounding a warning by using the horn, and, when the turn signals are inoperative, the driver cannot use them to signal intent to turn, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will reroute the wire harness and repair the harness if necessary. owner notification began november 3, 2003. owners should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-992-1997.

 Tl- the contact owns a 2003 dodge dakota. the contact stated that the dome light socket burned where the bulb was plugged in. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the socket would need replacing. the manufacturer was advised that there were no recalls for the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer for repairs. they offered no other assistance. the failure mileage was 77,940. kmj

 Tl*the contact owns a 2003 dodge dakota. whenever the contact drives the vehicle, the central timing module fails and all of the lights dim. the headlights, dome light, windshield wipers, and door locks failed while driving 45 mph. chrysler stated that his vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 02v322000 (exterior lighting:headlights:switch) and would not repair the vehicle. the current and failure mileages were 33,000.

 Towing package 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor for trailer lights frequently short or fail to make contact which causes a extreme safety situation when pulling a trailer. this has been an ongoing problem which has kept me from pulling my boat on several occasions. *jb

 While driving the consumer noticed smoke coming from the ignition. the consumer took the vehicle to a mechanic who informed the consumer that the ignition needed to be replaced which had since been replaced six times. please provide further details. *jb

 25jan06 tell dodge dealer that pass window inop from pass side switch works from drivers side switch. dodge replace switch. 20apr06 tell dodge dealer pass window inop from pass side but works from drivers side. dodge couldn't find anything wrong. persists up to 7dec07, hopefully my mechanic found the trouble. 1dec07 service 4wd light came on 3dec07 called to get apptmt for truck 4dec07 remote door entry wouldn't work or door lock for all doors on driver arm rest, windshield washer and wiper pulse wouldn't work 5dec07 headlights did not come on during evening traffic commute, turn signals worked 7dec07 take truck to shop finds short to ground in circuit to into lights (fuse#1) pnk wire near parking brake petal, replace central timer module (p/n 56049072al). *tr
