1-electrical system on overhead digital compass system became very hot. this electrical component system did not work for a period of a few days. it has intermittently worked now. 2-when you turn the steering wheel there is a horrible noise coming from one of the rear wheels. it makes a woo-woo sound every time the vehicle is turned, primarily turning right. a honest mechanic, who is a friend, told me that dodge (chrysler) was infamous for this type of wheel problem. 3-the transmission seems to have a hard time shifting, which involves the above wheel problem. 4-the air conditioning system does not cool and the vehicle is only 4 years old. 5-the leather covered dash is peeling up and began last summer, when the vehicle was only 3 years old. contacted chrysler/dodge hq and dealership and both have refused to repair problem.

Purchased a used 2002 dodge durango with 70k miles. vehicle was under limited warranty. drivers power window fell into the door at highway speed, nearly causing an accident just from the shock. went to dealership, was told it was an electrical issue, so not under warranty. took it to a private mechanic, $500 to replace the regulator. a few months later, passenger side fails, took it to a different dealership, was told it was a plastic pulley that failed, would have been under warranty, but my warranty just expired. another $500. driver side failed again a few months later, started calling dodge and complaining, nothing they could do they said. learned how to replace myself, 3 times drivers side rear regulator, 2 times passenger rear regulator, 3 times drivers front, 2 times passenger front. now three are broken again, the replacement part is the same plastic junk. i am tired of replacing them. dodge has told me that it has been to long and they will not be able to assist me, but can sell me the parts...again.. i have been told that cold weather, slamming the doors, over use of windows, could all be contributing issues. in other words, human error. this is not the case in my garaged full leather showroom quality vehicle. google dodge window regulators, you will find pages of complaints. wish i would have bought a car that doesnt need to be at 86 degrees constantly, that could go down a bumpy road, that i could roll down the windows more than twice a day (because that is what they recommend), could shut the doors without fear of slamming them, didnt have tape on the windows to hold them up, could go through a drive through with my door closed, and didnt cost me over $3000 in window parts. this is a safety issue as you will find if your going down the highway and your window instantly falls into your door. shame on dodge for not making this issue right. *tr

Main support bracket on front frame of vehicle was only partly welded from factory. this held the support suspension on vehicle. before it broke i did report possible front end problem with the dealership. they said there was no problem. the vehicle broke down out of town on may 7 03. it is still broke. they said it need a brand new frame from factory. this vehicle only has 31000 miles on it. i have only put 2500 miles on vehicle since i had it. 2002 durango. i feel there are more vehicles out there like this.*ak
