I currenty own a 2003 dodge durango, which i purchased new in nov 2003. this vehicle has been trouble from day 1. i've had the brakes replace 3 times, due to pulsating and pulling from the front end. it has been in the shop twice for clicking & popping noises coming from the front end which dealer claimed on both occassions they could not find. dealer keeps stating normal wear and tear, when it comes to brakes which i don't comprehend since i've owned new veh before and have never had to replace the brakes 3 times within a year. i've paid for 2 high speed wheel balances, and the dealer had the nerve to threaten me with the fact that if vehicle was returned again for brakes i would have to pay. also recently the windshield wipers malfunctioned and woud not come on or shut off on command. ofcourse at the time i needed them to visually see the road since it was raining. i clicked on my right signal in order to get off the road once i saw the malfunction occuring only to have the windhshield wipers make an attempt to start working. i've kept a log of every repair shop visit and lack of repair finding based on dealer ends. chrsyler needs to recall this vehicle i've never owned a vehicle with so many problems.

Vehicle has a brake pulsation and had a brake squeak. this has been going on since vehicle was purchased in 10-03. vehicle was returned to dealership while under warranty. they replaced the brake pads and resurfaced the rotors. this did not eliminate the pulsation but did eliminate the squeak. the transmission bangs into gear and has a long delay going from park into reverse. this is an ongoing problem. the vehicle has been returned to the dealer more than 10 times. they claimed they could not duplicate the problem. this is after telling us they felt something but did not know what it was. engine stalls and runs rough. this is intermittent and dealer could not duplicate it. i have spoken with several transmission shops and they have stated that there is a fix for the transmission problem. chrysler will not perform the repair. they did agree to install the necessary parts if i purchased them but then this would void my warranty. and why should i pay for a repair that should be covered under my warranty?? *jb

2003 dodge durango - vibration occurred when braking. at approx. 11,000 miles dealer replaced all four brake rotors. following replacement of rotors breaking capability decreased significantly. vibration re-appeared at 24,000 miles. front brake rotors replaced again. now at 30,000 miles vibration has re-appeared. i took the durango to a local garage since dealer was saying no problem with braking capacity. local garage indicates front rotors need turned again and also that rear brake calipers do not appear to be working. *nm

My front brakes have been changed twice, and i only have 52,000 miles on it. the brakes are now squeaking horribly, mixed with a grinding noise. my other vehicle is heavier than the durango, has more mileage, and i haven't had to change the brakes once. something seems wrong with the wear of the durango brakes. *tr

On dec 10 i was driving well below the posted speed limit of 35 mph. with all the chirstmas traffic and the light rain falling i was being what i thought extremely careful. the vehicle in front of me was at least 5 car links ahead. when that vehicle applied their brakes i immediately appllied mine and nothing happened. i tried to steer to the right to go around the vehicle which at this time had stopped in front of me and again nothing happened. even though the tires turned my 2003 durango would not follow. i slammed into the back of the vehicle in front of me. since i am a widow with 3 children one of which is handicapped i only collect social security. now my 2003 durango is sitting in my drive way and i am unable to drive it. also the ball joints i am having trouble with prior to the accident just like everybody else. i think dodge owes me to repair my vehicle from the accident and also the ball joints at no charge. i can not believe they would put unsafe vehicles on the road. they should step up to bat and show some true customer service. *ak

I bought my 2003 dodge durango new in april 2003. in less than 12,000 miles, i had to have the brake rotors replaced 2 times. it now has 18,000 miles on it and the rotors are bad again. only this time, they are not covered under warranty. i paid over $30,000 for this vehicle. i don't think i should have to pay to have the brakes replaced 2 times a year. this is very dangerous. i am very concerned that i will lose my brakes and get hurt or hurt someone. i saw your service bulletin # 0500703, brake shudder or vibration. this is exactly what my durango is doing. i hope you can help with this dangerous situation. the exact dates that i have had the rotors replaced are unknown without checking with my dealer. the date below is an approximate for the last time. thank you.*ak

I currently own a 2003 dodge durango. since i have purchased it in february 2003 it has been in the shop several times. the rotors have been replace twice, the rear end twice and now the transmission slips into neutral while driving. this can be very dangerous. i owned a 1999 durango and had nothing but problems with it. the steering column had to be replaced a few times and the ball joints. the transmission also had done the same thing. dodge could never find anything wrong with that durango and cannot find anything wrong with this transmission. the last durango the transmission slipped into neutral while crossing over lanes with oncoming traffic coming right at me. again, the dealer could find nothing wrong with it. same with this one. i am requesting that daimler-chrysler and williamsburg dodge refund my money and take the truck back. they recently had my durango for 15 days. the first 10 days the district manager, james brown, and shane lockhart, dealers tech manager, argued that my camper weighed too much. i gave them evidence that my camper only weighed 4295 lbs. daimler-chrysler sells the durango boasting it can tow 7400 lbs. after i filed a complaint with daimler-chrysler, james brown said he made a mistake on the weight. now, they want to inspect my camper for faulty breaks. they are saying somehow it is causing stress on the durango. give me a break!!! i have had my camper inspected. surprisingly, the place where i have gone says they get this a lot from dodge owners. do we see a pattern? they also get a lot of requests for dodge owners to have transmission coolants put on their dodges. what does this tell us? consumeraffairs.com tells a lot about dodge. we need something to be done with daimler-chrysler. *ph
