I have had to replace the heater blower resistor once a year for the last 2 years in my 2003 dodge durango. this time the heater wiring harness pigtail connection was corroded and melted and burnt, it was melted to the resistor module. after replacing it now the abs light ,the brake light are on, the clock wont work, the speedometer will not work. this durango only has 31,000 miles on it. the dodge dealer service dept. said they sell alot of these resistors. it sounds like there needs to be a recall before there are fires in this resistor or heater wiring harness. i saw lots of other people with the same problems on online auto chat boards. please check into this problem. *tr

I have had to replace the blower motor resistor multiple times. on one occasion the when the resistor failed, the wiring harness and resistor got so hot they fused together, including the accompanying wiring. the last time i purchased on and replaced it i was told that it had been redesigned and would hold up better. i was also told by a dodge employee not to run the system on the lowest setting. i understand that it is cooled by the air movement inside the hvac duct work, but at what point will dodge assume the responsibility of a poor design and lack of quality replacement parts. *tr

I purchased a 2003 dodge durango from bleecker dodge in dunn, nc. i have three complaints that i would like to put on file: fist complaint: my vehicle began to make terrible noises that required me to take it for service. the sounds were scraping noises coming from the steering components. i took the vehicle to the dealership and both the upper and lower ball joints were replaced. second complaint: during the cold weather months, i was warming my vehicle and had scraped the ice from my windshield. the defrost was on. while traveling down the road my windshield cracked. exact date of the incident is unknown to me but it was during one of our snows. it has left me with a cracked windshield. i have taken no steps as of yet to have it repaired. third complaint: even more recently, my check guages light came on. my vehicle shows no oil pressure. i cannot drive the vehilcle and the service department at bleecker will not be back in until monday. i am without a vehicle this weekend. this vehicle only has 35,000 miles on it and it has been plagued with problems since it was purchased in october of 2003.*ak

Air conditioning stopped working under normal use. after inspecting the blower motor resistor, and connector plug i found the inside to be melted likely due to too much voltage. i had to cut the wires as the connector was fused to the resistor. not able to find this connector through local junk/salvage yards, because this apparently is a common issue with this model durango. only able to get after market part for this connector, and will have to re-wire it to the blower motor resistor. *tr

2003 dodge durango and 2003 dodge caravan. both vehicles have blower fan speed resistors that are burnt out. the vehicles have no heat to clear windshields of frost fogging or ice. i asked dodge world in clifton park new york if there was any recalls and they stated no. too repair these vehicles the entire dash and air bag system has to be removed. these conditions are extremely dangerous. *jb

In 2.5 years, i have put in 5 window regulators using original dodge parts in my 2003 dodge durango. a 6th one broke 10/13/09. this part is defective in that it breaks irregardless of usage, today a rear window broke which has maybe been used a dozen times since i purchased the vehicle. the driver's window was replaced three times within 60 days, because the brand new parts broke. dodge is well aware of this issue, because of the constant back order within their parts department and frequent consumer complaints well documented on the internet. their paraphrased response to my complaint was too bad it's out of warranty. *tr

Both front electric windows in our 2003 dodge durango stopped working. as soon as i paid to have one window replaced; the other window failed. the passenger front window came down as i was driving over a bridge in a rainstorm. the rain pelted my children who were riding in their carseats in the next row of seats. as soon as i got off the bridge, i turned onto an exit and waited out the rain at a gas station. i still have not replaced the window. i have it braced up with a rubber screw driver; at least it is up now. *tr

On 4/2/07, i had the driver side window regulator replaced. it broke while driving down the road, not in use at the time. on 4/28/07 it was replaced again. on 7/7/07 it was replaced again. on 7/23/07 it was replaced again. on 8/20/07 it broke again. this is an oem part, not an after market. i've spoken with several mechanics who said this is definitely a dodge issue. what do i do? *tr

The stabilizer bar on the 2003 dodge durango was coming out causing the vehicle to produce a grinding noise. *mr the grinding noise was coming from the driver side front wheel. the consumer inspected the hub and found that the inner axle had grinding wear on the inside by the rubber boot. the stabilizer bar was coming out about 1/4 inch. the dealer suggested that they didn't hear anything and could not find a problem. currently, the front end still wobbles and grinds when the vehicle is in motion and when stopping. *sc the windshield wiper module was replaced. *jb
