| This car has stalled multiple of times, with no lights, no warning of it going to happen. this is very dangerous and i have taken it to bob boyd dealership where i bought the car 6 years ago. it now has around 80000 miles on it and in the last few months, it has started to get worse. i took it to the dealership and they told me that they cant do anything with it until the can replicate the problem. the first time i took it there, it was 1 year after i bought it, they replaced the battery as they said that was the problem. was till the year and now the problem is back again. this time more frequent. i have taken the car to them twice now and they give me the same answer, that they cant fix it till it breaks, they have to replicate the problem to make sure they can fix it, meanwhile, i have a car that's not working right and very dangerous. they had the car for two days the first time, and then took it back to them after it stalled driving it home from the dealership. the second time, they kept it for over a week, still, they say they cant fix it cause they don't know what the problem is. you can google this problem and it is wide spread across this country, other dodge products are doing the same thing and the dealerships aren't doing anything to fix it. please contact these people and give us consumers a fighting chance in getting this fixed. i will never buy another dodge product after this. thanks for reading this, and if you decide to do something about this, thank you dearly for doing so. | I was in nyc last week. i was making a turn in the city the truck cut off. a tracker trailer and several cars were behind me. i was able to put the car in park and re-start it. however, if someone behind was not paying attention that accident could have been terrible. prior to that i was driving on the fdr and truck cut off on me again, while in traffic. again i had to put the truck in park and start it up again. i know good and well chrysler knows about this problem because i see to many durango owners with the same problem. please create a recall we and our families lives are depending on it!!!! | |||

| 2005 dodge durango limited, 5.7l hemi v8 stalls while backing up. first time it happened the truck started right back up immediately. the second time on 11/28/11, it took 3 times to restart the vehicle. this has only happened while in reverse. apparently this is a common problem with the hemis and there is a tsb #0802404 to reflash the engine and update the software. the forums state that this is a fix for some vehicles, but not all. i am scared to be in this car with my kids now-what if we stall on the highway and get into a wreck? please fix this issue! our safety is my number one concern, and should be yours as well, dodge! | |||

| I bought this vehicle used, and started having problems with it immediately after buying it. gas overflows out of the gas tank almost every time i fill it up. it's going to catch on fire at some point because of this. also, the engine stalls out at random times causing the vehicle to steer and brake very poorly until restarted. i noticed that other model years of this same vehicle have had the same problems as this one, however dodge refuses to fix this one - even though other model years have been recalled and repaired. this stupid thing is going to blow up one day at the gas station, or i'm going to crash into somebody when it stalls, but i can't afford to spend thousands of dollars to take it every mechanic on the planet to find out what is wrong with it - especially since dodge already knows what is wrong with it - but just won't take responsibility for building it poorly. | |||

| I am the owner of an auto repair shop, vehicle was driven by me with no engine running problem, no check engine light, no noises or sounds to indicate a problem. vehicle reason for being at shop was the four wheel drive was not working. after replacing the transfer case motor, i turned key to start vehicle, heard a loud noise, got out of vehicle, inspected, we found that the engine had thrown the number eight connecting rod, thru the engine block. i have photo's, witnesses and documentation. | |||

| 1-2 possible concerns- #1- (5.7 v.8 engine issue) as many others have complained the vehicle stalls and quits on sudden stops, and when making turn. after the engine shuts off - it can be restarted - but no engine code is generated. the dealer does not know the specific cause, but cites numerous things that it can be - wanting me to spend $$ to investigate each one and replace parts. the service department is not aware of any issues with the durango and engine stall. the issue is unpredictable and nearly impossible to duplicate - even though it has happened a dozen or so times in the last 2 years. on several of this occasions i (and my family of 5) have been placed in life threatening situations and i have had issues with controlling the vehicle due to a loss of power steering and brake control. this issue may be related to the next complaint. it seems strange that this on many occasions happens right after a fill up. and - even though my vin was recalled in 2005 and fixed - gas still sprays out the fuel filler and any gas station when you fill the vehicle up fully. to get around this - my vehicle cannot be filled all the way up. this issue is easy to duplicate - but my dealer states that the work done in 2005 should have fixed this and that any other issue are not a warranty/recall issues. again - the dealer wants to charge me $$ to test and try to find an answer since according to them this problem has already been fixed. | |||

| On 4 occasions my vehicle has shut off while trying to turn on a intersection at a low speed. all fluids are in the correct levels and no fault lights appear. the vehicle does start normally after a second. the incidents are sporadic however are concerning because it could cause an accident. this appears to be a common issue with this type of vehicle an many have complained. the dealer can't do anything because they cannot recreate the problem and computer does not show fault code. i tried contacting dodge customer service about it but they are not willing to help. | |||

| Since i purchased in 2006, vehicle has intermittently stopped running when turning (left or right) . i can start it again, but it will continue to die several times when stopped or turning. it may happen several times in one month, or nothing at all for 6 or 10 months, but continues to do i--4 years now. dealer can't find the cause, independent mechanics can't find the cause. when its doing this and i'm stopped (in drive) rpm's will bounce from 2 to 0 a bunch, then it will die. am also having surges when the vehicle is stopped. and it stalls when i drive through a puddle. not a lot of water... your average puddle that every other car goes through fine. power steering goes out and the car stalls... sometimes it dies, sometimes it makes it back to life. my vehicle was doing all of this at under 20,000 miles and continues to do so. this problem has been reported for years now. this is a dangerous problem. when my car is having one of its days, i don't drive it. i'm not risking myself or others. | |||

| 2005 dodge durango hemi. when driving approx 30 mph my durango just died in the middle of a very busy intersection. i lost all steering and brakes. its a miracle i didn't cause a 20 car pile up. i was just about to get on a major highway. i have 3 kids who were luckily not in the vehicle with me. they towed my durango to a local shop who could not determine what was wrong. they inturn towed it to a dodge dealership where they told me right away that the valve spring went and now i need to replace the engine. i cannot believe there has not been a recall on this, especially when i see how many other have had the same issue. dodge needs to step up to the plate and take care of all of us with these engine problems. at this point i'd rather buy a toyota that another dodge. at least they recalled their vehicles and took ownership of the problems they were having. as it stands i have been out of a vehicle for 2 weeks now and no signs of getting it back soon. i have been told that the new engine i had to buy at $8,000 is backordered and cannot get until dec!!! i have 3 kids and no longer a vehicle to fit everyone in. i asked about a rental to help me out but was also told dodge won't do that either. | |||

| My 2005 dodge durango suv has been experiencing engine stalling while driving for the past 6 months. it always happens while it is being driven in rainy or wet conditions. it happened the first time in november 2007 on regular surface streets while it was raining and my wife was driving straight ahead. the vehicle stalled and she was unable to re-start it for over 2 minutes in normal traffic conditions. the second time on or about 3/11/08 my wife was turning right at an intersection in rainy conditions and the engine stalled mid turn and she was unable to re-start the engine for over 2 minutes in normal traffic conditions. the third time occurred 5/6/08 on regular surface streets driving straight ahead in rainy conditions and the vehicle stalled and was unable to be re-started for at least 2 minutes. all 3 occurrences involved loss of control of the vehicle due to the loss of power steering and power brake controls while our children were present in the vehicle. i took the vehicle in to allan samuels dodge in alliance texas after the 2nd incident for warranty covered diagnosis and they informed me after having the vehicle overnight for a full day that they did not find anything wrong with it. i took it back to them after the 3rd incident and after having it for 2 full days they are still advising me that they can not find a problem with the vehicle and are not recommending any course of action to correct it. no parts have been replaced or repaired on the vehicle to my knowledge according to the service receipts given to me. i believe they are simply hooking up the ecm scanner and looking for failure codes, of which both times i took it in i was told there were none present. in my opinion right now, nothing has been done to correct the problem with my vehicle and i am very concerned about the safety of this vehicle and my wife and children inside of it. *tr | |||

| Bought 2005 dodge durango slt on 10/21/05. on 10/25/05 it idled down and cut off but no service light came on took to dealer and they said couldn't find anything. i have called or been to the dealer 46 times from 10/05 -11/06. no panel lights came on so they stated they couldn't fix it, but the durango will idle down and cut off in park or at low speeds. october 2006 dealer changed the cluster and problem stopped for a week. then started again either at idle or in park. 12/06 i took back due to it started to cut off while driving. but still no panel lights and nothing showing on computer. in january 2007 was driving and cut off in the middle of crossing traffic and another car had to swerve around took back to dealer. the dealer added 1 qt of transmission fluid and problem stopped for 3 days. then idle down and cutting off again. then did a transmission flush due to technical support recommendations. drove for 4 days and it cut off when turning and lost power had to slam brakes to miss a pole. next day driving down rd and cut off had to hit brakes to stay out of the ditch because i was on a curve. i have children and this is a safety issue. first incident date was 10/25/05-present(1/21/07) *jb | |||

| We purchased a 2005 dodge durango hemi in april of 2005. since then the engine has stalled in a variety of situations at least 15 times. we have had it to the dealer on a couple of occasions and they say they cannot diagnose or fix the problem if they can't either duplicate it (they couldn't) or find a fault code (they didn't). now they want me to leave it for an extended period, which isn't possible. the most common time for it to stall is turning at slower speeds, though it has stalled at idle as well (i.e. stopping at a stop light, coasting). the two worse times for me were turning left across oncoming traffic and nearly getting slammed by a school bus, and another time near the same school where the engine stalled as i rolled at 20 mph and didn't realize it until i almost ran up on a sidewalk with kids going to school. this is absolutely the truth. other times haven't caused immediate danger but the next time could be much more serious. someone will be hurt or worse if chrysler doesn't do something about this!!! i understand the need to duplicate an isolated incident, but when so many hundreds of people have publicly voiced their own experiences, and who knows how many more either not saying anything or going through the ringer at the dealership, something more should be acknowledged by chrysler and their dealers. it's unbelievable that you give them so much money for the car, then go in time after time and pay them to service it, only to have them get stone cold with you over this. unreal! i will never buy another chrysler product again. ever. *jb | |||

| I purchased a 2005 dodge durango from delamaker dodge, watertown, ny, in dec of 2005. the vehicle had 218 miles on it. a few weeks later i was involved in an accident and hit a tree and telephone pole. dealmaker and the insurance company determined that the vehicle would not be totaled, but rather repaired. i have had nothing but problems with the vehicle. my biggest comcern is that the vehicle shuts off on me while operating. i have contacted chrysler and i am told that they can do nothing because it is a repair issue. dealmaker states that it is manufacture defect. most recently dealmaker drove my vehicle for 3 weeks and put 500 miles on it, but found no trouble. two hours after i picked the vehicle up it shut off on me and the check engine light came on. both are issues that have been ongoing and both were the reason they had my vehicle. the main computer shorted out and was replaced a few months ago. i was told that was a manufacturer defect as well.*jb | |||

| Vehicle shuts off while driving, causing the steering wheel to lock up creating a very serious and dangerous situation. has happened more than 10 times over a 4 or 5 month period. first time it occurred i went to the dealership (garber auto mall - green cove springs fl) and told them of the problem. i was told that dodge was aware of the problem and were researching a fix, but did not have one at the current time. it happened again a few weeks later, at which point i took it to the dealership to have it looked at. learned that a co-worker's 2005 dodge durango had the same problem a week earlier. this time i was told that dodge had never heard of the problem before. i also called the main dodge 1-800 number and filed a complaint with them and was instructed to give the complaint number to the dealership and tell them to call dodge while the truck was in the shop. not sure if they called or not. garber dodge told me they serviced the transmission and replaced some gaskets that failed causing air to be sucked into the system and potentially causing the computer to fail, but they weren't sure if it would fix the problem since they couldn't duplicate it. my co-workers dealership found some loose wiring going to the main computer which they adjusted and told him this may not fix the problem. on 20 apr 2006 the problem occurred again to my vehicle. i took it to the dealership the very next morning. garber dodge kept the vehicle that day and part of the following day. the next day we were given the vehicle back and told they could not find anything wrong with it and didn't do anything to fix the problem. advised us if it happened again to just bring it back in and they would look at it again. i have already filed a second complaint with dodge, this time doing it through their email contact portion. this is a very serious and potentially fatal problem that it seems dodge and their dealerships are not too concerned with. *jb | |||

| I purchased my 2005 dodge durango last march and in june it started stalling while i was driving! it would happen while driving in town and i noticed it a lot when i made right turns. there was no warning...didn't make any sounds, no lights came on...i would just try to push the gas and there was nothing. it was all i could do to get it pulled off the road and avoid getting hit! this happened about 5 times within a two week period before i thought it was fixed. the first time it occurred i took it straight to the dealership and they could find nothing wrong. the computer did not pick up any errors and there was nothing they could do for me. then after it happened a few more times i took it straight there again and they found a software update. this seemed to have fixed it. so i thought until now. last week it started again...1 time while making a right turn. i came very close to getting hit and now i have a 3 month old baby riding in the car to worry about also. so, i thought great here we go again. i waited for it to happen once more before i took it back to the dealership and a few days later it happened again while making a right turn in town. again, they are saying there are no errors in the computer and they have no idea how to fix the problem or that it is even really happening! so in other words i am making this up! this time i was not taking my car back until i could be absolutely sure that it is safe to drive. it took me an hour of going round and round with them before they broke down and gave me a rental. they are going to have one of their mechanics test it for a few days and try to get it to happen while he is driving it. in the mean time, i am filing for the lemon law which could take up to four weeks and i know they are not going to let me keep a rental for that long! so i have no idea what i am going to do for now. hopefully it happens while the mechanic is driving it and they can come up with a solution. *jb | |||

| I purchased a new 2005 dodge duragno limited edition with the hemi 5.7 engine on 2/1/05. last week, around the 3200 mile mark, i experienced my first engine stall when pulling into a parking place. no lights or other indicators come on to warn you that your car is about to die! the car started up again immediately and ran fine for the next 3 days. three days later, i was driving in busy atlanta traffic trying to turn left across two lanes of traffic. i had plenty of room when i began my turn, but the engine stalled almost immediately, died in the middle of the intersection with no steering ability, and i almost got hit by several cars and a large truck. the car immediately started back up again. i immediately called my dodge dealership and they said haven't heard of that before so you'll need to bring it in so we can run some diagnostics. i printed off some of the complaints at the nhtsa website and took them to the dealer with me. the service advisor proclaimed, the internet is our worst enemy, don't listen to that stuff. which to me meant, dodge doesn't want you to have any clue about what is going on with your car. i told him the information came from the nhtsa website and told him of the numerous complaints, but he didn't seem to care. three hours later the dealer called and told me to come pick up my durango and take it to another dealer. his diagnostic machine was broken and he had no idea when it might be fixed! i told him to take it to the other dodge dealer. still waiting to find out what they may or may not do. i am extremely concerned at the lack of excitement on the part of dodge to fix this problem. i feel unsafe driving my car. i am single, have no family in this town to haul me around or borrow a vehicle from, and dodge doesn't care. i am not very happy about having to drive this vehicle based on the accident i was almost in a few days ago. i guess some people will have to die before somenoe does something about this. | |||

| 2/27/07 purchases: 2/27/07 problem: engine light serviced: 3/06/07 repaired: egr valve, 3/09/07 problem: engine light serviced: 3/12/07 repaired: ignition coil. 4/06/07 problem: engine light/vehicle cut off/ serviced: 4/17/07 repaired: short out cam and crankshaft sensor. due to vehicle having rough idle , needle jumping/vehicle shaking, vehicle shut down at stop lights. (5/01/07) returned vehicle to service due to shutting down when backing up/rough idle. (5/17/07) vehicle shut down on the expressway in front of a semi-truck, i didn't know if had shut down until the wheel became difficult to control. i coasted up the exit ramp and the vehicle start right up. dealership requested to take the vehicle to another service center for repairs. (5/18/07) took vehicle a dodge dealership, in which ,they stated that the vehicle has intermittent problems which were hard to detect. diagnoses of the problem would be difficult. also, stated this was the second vehicle in their service department with the same problems. to no avail they found nothing.*ak | |||
