On dec 19 2008 as i was driving home during a severe thunderstorm when my driver side wind shield wiper suddenly stopped working and got tangled up with the passenger side wiper that continued to work normally. this happened minutes before i was about to enter the freeway so luckily i was in a place where i could safely pull over. i tried to wait out the storm but it was getting really bad so i had to drive at 20-30 mph with my hazard lights on. i first thought that the bolt holding the wiper arm was stripped but after taking it to the dealer to get inspected, to my surprise i was told that it was the linkage for the wiper system. the linkage just broke out of nowhere. our vehicle is only 3 1/2 years old and i have never heard of such a thing happening on new or old vehicles of any make. the repair technician told me that the linkage broke because of the way the part was made. the amount it cost to repair my vehicle came out to $607.00 for parts and labor and was barely able to get it replaced today. it also took 7-10 days to order and ship the part to the repair shop. i was informed that it was replaced with the same model part so this problem might happen again which is not comforting at all. i asked to take the broken part back to show proof or a description of the area that broke. so if needed i can send that in. *tr

After getting my recall done reference # go7 instrument cluster. i began having problems with my windshield wiper, it would not turn on ii turn to your website and found nhtsa campaign id number: 06v067000. it seems this was the problem i am having! i call chrysler and they told me that there is no such thing of this recall. i told them my problem but to no avail. they can't help me. they told me i should contact the dealership and get a diagnostic. but the dealership wants to charge me $65.00 per hour for diagnostics. i don't want to pay for something that there is a potential recall on it. *tr

On the evening of 6-28-07 while driving home from work during a thunderstorm the windshield wipers were running. the rain intensified so i switched the wipers to high speed suddenly the left (driver's side wiper stopped working and jammed against the running right wiper. luckily there were no cars in front of me and i was on a stretch of road where i could slow down and get over to the shoulder. upon inspection it appeared that the left wiper linkage broke as i was able to move the wiper without resistance so i moved it to the far left position and it was out of way of the right wiper which was still operating. i waited for the storm to subside then drove on with the right wiper working and the hazard flashers on, and was able to limp home without further incident. had a car been in front of me at the time of failure the outcome would have been much different. i have an appointment with the dealer to look at the car on 7-2-07 and repaired the wipers.*ak

Windshield wiper drive arm from wiper motor armature to driver's wiper broke, causing driver's wiper to fail and simultaneously jam passenger wiper while school bus was stopping in front of vehicle. my 20 month old dodge durango was being driven home from school by my daughter. this entire wiper pivot arm assembly is a terrible design and construction. it is failure by design. i have the failed part and assembly and can ship it to you if you to have engineers inspect. *ak

Driving my 2005 dodge durango in a heavy rain storm at night. there was a pop and something flew off from my wipers then both wipers got tangled up. i couldn't see as it was a back road. i had to pull over and remove the passenger side wiper for inside of the driver side wiper. i couldn't use the wipers at all. i finally was able to move the passenger side wiper arm down enough to be able to use the drivers wiper. had i been in traffic it could have been very bad. i contacted daimlerchrysler corporation and was told my durango did not fall into the nhtsa's campaign # 06v067000 even though this arm breakage is what the nhtsa's campaigning is supposed to cover. the vehicle has 65700 miles on it. there was no indication that the wiper would fail such as rubbing or squeaking. it just failed. i know this has been identified as a recall on some vehicles i believe mine is one of them. i have had two other safety items already fixed on this car so i wanted to insure that owner of these vehicles know that their wipers can fail at any time. *tr

I purchased a 2005 dodge durango brand new,and since i had this vehicle it has been given me problems. there were recalls on this vehicle. the vehicle idled very hard, and it shut off when it idled hard, while sitting at a traffic light or when turning to go around a ramp. when shutting off the wheel locked, and i could not control the car. recently, the care shut off on the new jersey turnpike and a tractor trailer truck was behind me. luckily, i was in the outer lane and managed to steer the car to the shoulder before the truck could hit me and my family. this was very dangerous. last incident happened on une 10, 2007. every time i took the car to the dealer they determined there was no problem. *ak
