When filling up the vehicle with fuel the pumps do not shut off when it is full and the gasoline spills outside of the vehicle, sometimes violently. this happens almost every time i fill the vehicle and is extremely dangerous! luckily the first time i was inside of the gas station when it happened and it shot out everywhere and soaked a 3-4 foot radius from the gas tank. this last time i filled up it sprayed a fine mist everywhere and it spilled all down the side of the vehicle.

After filling fuel tank a lot of fuel sprays out of top of filler neck and spills down the side of the vehicle. sometimes it sprays out a few feet away and can get all over you. it happens every time the tank is filled up. there is a recall for this exact problem with the 2005 model but not one for the 2006 model.

Each time i fuel, once the tank is full, it spews/gurgles a large amount of fuel back out of the filler neck. it happens at every kind of pump, and it happens whether i use the auto shut off or if i control the flow and slow it to a trickle. it still happens once the tank gets close to full. each time i fuel, i spill at least 1-3 quarts of fuel onto the ground. this is very harmful to the enviornment, a waste of my money, and a safety issue. i have owned many new and old vehicles, and never in my life, have i experienced a problem fueling my car. this is a known problem from dodge, because they recalled the 2005 durango for this very problem. so why fix the 2005's and not the 2006????

When filling the gas tank the fuel splashes and pours out all over me and the vehicle. the paint on the vehicle that is exposed to the fuel has begun to bubble and rust. *tr if the inconvenience and hazard of the spill isn't enough the loss of fuel at today's high prices is an injustice that needs to be addressed. please help us! we paid a lot for our vehicle and now it looks like crap! dodge should care more about it customers! *tr

When the gas tank is full, the dodge durango spits gasoline out and spills it all over the vehicle, the ground, and anyone who happens to be near the pump. this has happened from day one of ownership of the vehicle and happens each and every time the vehicle is fueled. drenching a motor vehicle operator in gasoline every time they fill the gas tank is caustic to the individual and dangerous to those breathing the fumes inside the vehicle.

Every time that i attempt to fill the gas tank, gasoline sprays out of the tank all over me. this was never a problem until the vehicle hit 60,000 miles. the problem started a few months ago and happens every time that i try to fill the tank up. the only solution is to limit the amount of gasoline that i put into the tank. there is approximately a quart or more of gas that sprays everywhere. i am going to contact the dealership tomorrow to see what type of remediation is available. this is a major safety and environmental hazard. we are supposed to be limiting gasoline emissions, so i am fairly certain that gasoline spraying all over the person pumping the gas as well as over the ground is a hazard. i have researched this online and see that more that just the 2005 is affected. i think that the dodge dealerships should have to check each durango from 2005 until when the problem was corrected. if any are affected, they should have to fix those that are a problem. *tr

Fill the gas tank and when stopped filling a large amount of gas backflows out of tank onto the ground and person pumping gas! this is a major hazard both for the person and the environment. took to dodge dealer and they said this has happened a lot and only way to fix is to replace gas tank which is very expensive. called dodge and they refuse to cooperate saying they never heard of this problem before must be the way i pump gas! this has happened everytime i fill gas. very annoying and hazardous!! *tr

Safety and environmental hazard. when fueling the vehicle and the fuel nozzle stops filling, a large amount of gasoline forcefully spews from the tank filler neck. spraying on the person fueling, spilling fuel on the ground, and on the vehicle. at first it was annoying. now i feel it has become a safety hazard and also an environmental hazard. i am not describing a small burp of gasoline, but a large amount, at least a cup of fuel. i no longer can fill the tank, i have to stop short to prevent the attendant from being drenched with gas and gas being spilled on the ground.

I was filling my car and once it was filled the gas forcefully came back out of the tank and covered my coat pants and shoes. i am so angry, this has happened on other time that i completely filled my tank. the gas should not be coming back out of the tank. # 1 - i am now covered in gas, this is a huge safety issue, # gas is all over the side of my vehicle, huge safety issue, #3 gas is all over the ground at the service station, huge safety issue. this problem has been recalled in the 2005 dodge durango and i feel that my car is experiencing the same issues. i think that if dodge does not want a law suit they would fix the problem. *tr

I have owned this vehicle one week, filled the fuel tank twice and had the same issue on both fill ups. when the fuel tank is full and backs up to the nozzle to shut it off, the fuel does not shut off and sprays at least 2 pints of fuel on the vehicle and the nozzle and myself. this has happened at two different fuel stations. *tr

Refueling the gas pump shuts off and then a large amount of gas sprays out the tank all over the gas pump handle, and down the car. about 2 cups of gas spew out almost every time we fill up - even if pumping slowly. this is a new problem (had the car since new in 2006) and just started last month. this should be recalled or at least fixed as it is very dangerous for my family sitting in the car as i refill, and dangerous in many other ways!

Like every one of this type vehicle from chrysler every time you fuel up it shuts the pump off then spews a couple cups of gas back out onto who ever is there or onto the ground. i know you know about this and have done absolutely nothing about it. why. you recalled a few in 2005 and in research on line you can see nothing good happened. it is time to fix it now. *tr

Everytime myself or my wife fills up the gas tank, it will not shut off without spewing gas all over the place. we have monitored the recalls for this problem and have seen numerous testimonies to include video of the same issue. the statement released that it's because of operator negligence is completely false. it's to the point that we have to hold the handle at a slow fill speed in order to not lose fuel all over the ground. i have lost gallons worth of fuel not to negate the issue of safety for myself and family everytime the fuel dumps.

I have a 2006 dodge durango, when filling the fuel tank gas spews out of the filler neck when approaching full. i have researched this problem and have found that there was a recall on numerous chrysler makes and models, indicating the problem is with a faulty inlet check valve in the fuel tank. only certain specific vin numbers are covered under the recall despite the fact that thousands of documented complaints have been recorded. chrysler has denied that this is an ongoing manufacture defect, i assume to keep from having to spend potentially millions of dollars to correct the problem. this not only a fire hazard, but an environmental hazard a well. please take the appropriate steps to require the chrysler corporation to include any vehicles with this defect in an updated recall. thank you *tr

When i fuel my vehicle the fuel spills back onto me. if i stand away it goes onto the ground. when i contacted dodge they stated the current recall does not include my vehicle. this will at some point cause a fire and seriously injure or kill the person filling the vehicle. dodge has had an issue with this on model years 2005-2008 (which includes my vehicle year) from what i have found, but fails to correct the problem with my vin. *tr

The fuel tank spits out about a quart of gas when refilling tank. this has happened every time i have refilled since i bought the vehicle in march 2006. i have resorted to filling only 3/4 full for the last few years since my dealer will not fix the problem. i have addressed the problem to the lyndsey chrysler dodge dealer in st roberts, mo several times but no recalls have been issued for the 2006 durango. *tr

I just bought a 2006 dodge durango on 11/2/2012 and went to the gas station to fill it up and it over flowed about a 1/4 of a tank of gas on the ground and down the side of the truck. i first thought maybe i didn't have it all the way in the gas tank. but then i gassed up again on the 10th of november 2012 and it did it again. i am really upset about this issue. dodge should have a recall on this. if something happens to any of my family we will be suing dodge!!!!! i am surprised no one has been hurt yet. this is dangerous!!! i love my truck but hate that there isn't anything being done about this issue!!! *tr

While fueling the car at the gas station i keep continuing to have back-flow of gas propelling out of the fill spout when filling up. it is happening every-time and i think this is not a safe thing to have gas coming flying back out and getting over the ground & myself. this is a real safety hazard. i have found there is a lot of issues with the 2005 models which have a recall and now the 2006-2008 models have a service bulletin if manufactured after feb 20006 & are having the same problem. my vehicle vin is not covered but has the same exact problem. *tr

Whenever i put gas in the tank, it comes back out when it reaches full. it sprays and splashes out onto the vehicle and ground. i avoid this now by filling the tank very slowly for the last couple of gallons and trying to listen for any gas that may be coming back out at me. it still comes out sometimes. either way, this isn't right. *tr

Since july of 2011 and every gas station stop since then my wife and i avoid filling up our tank, as this vehicle does not stop flow of gas at any pump when it reaches full. instead it gurgles up and spray fuel back at the person filling tank (me usually), down side of vehicle and of course all over the ground. after reviewing other reports, it is apparent there are major and consistent issues of this type for the 2006 durango and recalls for same issue, only for 2005 model. since then everytime we fill up, it is a guessing game how close, and i run back and forth from pump handle to interior gas gauge, back to pump handle and so on. i'm sure it's amusing to everyone else that doesn't own this chrysler product. *tr

2006 dodge durango. whenever you put fuel in the car, the fuel overflows spilling and spraying out a substantial amount of fuel on the person and the ground. this does this every time when filling up the car. i am the original owner of the car and this creates safety concerns. dodge issued a recall on 2005 models recall id#78716 for the same issue, but hasn't addressed the issues with any of the 2006 and 2007's. *tr

Over the last 12 and 1/2 months, it has been an issue with filling the gas tank. each time that i fill up my tank, the gas will either spill back out from under the car, spout out like it is spraying in the air or it will just come back out and roll down the sides of the truck. this has become a continuing issue and when i called the dodge place within my area, they claimed to not know of this being a problem or a recall. but as i started my research, i located many people in my same predicament. *tr

Every time i fill my tank, the nozzle doesn't shut off, and gas goes all over me and the ground. not to mention on the paint of the car, can't be good for the paint. also it is not good for the environment at a gallon a week on the ground. the 2005 model was recalled for this very same reason, seems reasonable to recall the 2006. this is a very dangerous issue where a spark could end up causing an explosion. *tr

Every time this vehicle is filled to full it spews gas out of the tank at the pump operator resulting in gas on the person fueling vehicle. we have tried several service stations this is not a pump issue the issue is with the vehicle. we have spoken to several station attendants this is a known issue to them. i believe this needs to be addressed before someone is seriously burned by a spark. *tr

Every time i fill up my gas tank since purchasing this vehicle last year my fuel tank sprays out gas after the gas pump shuts off. even if i don't use the gas pump auto shutoff while filling as soon as the tank is full it sprays gas out and also pours down the side of my vehicle onto the ground. i always need to take windshield washer fluid and wash off my vehicle and pour it onto the ground so there is not a puddle of gas sitting on the ground. now i only fill my tank 1/2 full when fueling to avoid this issue. *tr

Fuel spews out of the fuel filler tube after the automatic fuel shutoff stops fuel flow into the tank. there is a one or two second lag before the fuel spews out after shutoff. fuel spills onto the car, the ground and the person filling the tank if they happen to be removing the pump nozzle at that moment. the problem has persisted with each successive fillup since the initial incident. *tr

While fueling our 2006 dodge durango limited when the vehicle tank became full the fuel nozzle on the pumped kicked off, but then fuel began spewing out of the vehicle fueling spout due to an apparent failure of the tank valve flap that is supposed to prevent this occurrence. approximately 1/4 to 1/2 of a gallon of gas spews out each time this happens, mostly on the car, but also on mine or my wife's hands and shoes. this is probably the 90-100th time this has happened to our vehicle since we purchased it brand new in late 2006, and there are many other 2006 durango owners on this site and the dodge durango clubs web sites that complain of the same failure. this is unacceptable. the 2005 durango was recalled for the same failure, but the 2006 has not been addressed. it should not take a fire or someone getting hurt or killed to get this corrected. we paid a lot of money for this vehicle new for this occurrence to happen every time we fill the tank up. the dealership ignores the issue, and chrysler wants me to pay to have it investigated, and may refund me if it is found to be a faulty part. i cannot afford the $600 the dealership wants to do this work (draining and removing the tank). someone needs to take a hard look at this issue and help us out with it before someone gets hurt or a fire is caused by it. *tr

While fueling our 2006 dodge durango limited when the vehicle tank became full the fuel nozzle on the pumped kicked off, but then fuel began spewing out of the vehicle fueling spout due to an apparent failure of the tank valve flap that is supposed to prevent this occurance. approximately 1/4 to 1/2 of a gallon of gas spews out each time this happens, mostly on the car, but also on mine or my wifes hands and shoes. this is probably the 90-100th time this has happened to our vehicle since we purchased it brand new in late 2006, and there are many other 2006 durango owners on this site and the dodge durango clubs web sites that complain of the same failure. this is unacceptable. the 2005 durango was recalled for the same failure, but the 2006 has not been addressed. it should not take a fire or someone getting hurt or killed to get this corrected. we paid a lot of money for this vehicle new for this occurance to happen every time we fill the tank up. the dealership ignores the issue, and chrysler wants me to pay to have it investigated, and may refund me if it is found to be a faulty part. i cannot afford the $600 the dealership wants to do this work (draining and removing the tank). someone needs to take a hard look at this issue and help us out with it before someone gets hurt or a fire is caused by it.

Anytime we fill the durango and gas comes back out when the nozzel is removed. there is so much gas that comes out that we have to clean it up from the ground and it has caused bubbles inthe paint which have resulted in surface rust. dealer that we purchased from checked the vehicle and told us there was a clogged filter. we got the filters replaced and when my hsuband filled it up today 6/26/2012 he said atleast 1/2 gallon of gas came back out of the car. this is a dangerous issue because it is leaving gas all ont he ground. the only way we can keep the gas from coming out is to remove the nozzle after every single gallon. the fuel sensor inside the car will even register full at 16 gallons of gas when the tank is 26 gallons. we are wasting all kinds of money fromt he gas coming up, cost of repairing the paint and removing rust and the money we spent on replacing filters that have made this issue worse. this is a serious problem that needs to be fixed. it was fixed in 2005 vehicles but nothing for 2006 and higher even though the problem has not been fixed. some dodge dealerships are even calling owners liars saying they have never heard of any issue like this or any recalls ever for this type of issue. someone needs to make dodge responsible for fixing this issue. the gas that spills is going to end up causing a fire and killing people one of these days.

Gasoline spits back from the gas tank every time that the vehicle is filled up. the check value is defective and could easily start a fire during the fill-up because it does not properly shut off. i can not completely fill up my gas tank without the danger of spraying gasoline everywhere at the gas station. there is an tsb issued but does not cover my vin.
12/12/201161000
When the gas tank reaches full or nearly full the fuel burps out spilling a significant amount of fuel to the side of the vehicle and on the ground.this is nearly 100% of the time. this may be caused by the fuel tank inlet check valve not closing properly this creates a risk of fire and is likely the same issue as the 2005 durango that has a recall for this reason.

When refueling vehicle check valve in fuel filler neck is defective causing gasoline to be ejected at high volocity when the gas pump handle shuts off. owner had cuticles on left foot burned from skin contact with liquid gasoline. many videos posted on youtube demonstrating this dangerous defect chrysler refuses to repair even though they have acknowledged the defect by recalling select vin's knowing the same part was installed without modification in many more vehicles not included in the recalls. this is just 1 clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=kbwgvmyy3vm&nr=1

Own durango built jan 2006, gas is put in it, click off nozzle, gas comes back out forcefully over the vehicle, ground and myself. it is terrifying and dangerous. there is a recall for this on the 2005. someone is going to get seriously hurt. i barely drive it because i am so terrified to put gas in it. i tried to email dodge and the email does not go through. i called on the recall and they told me it is for the 2005 and i can have the dealer fix it and maybe they will help. i took it to an independent repair shop and the part alone is $550 and i do not have that kind of money and i don't have 40,000 miles on the vehicle. here is the recall: january 2009 -- chrysler is recalling 19,024 my 2005 dodge durango vehicles. the fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve may not fully close at the end of refueling. this could allow some fuel to escape from the vehicle through the filler neck at the end of refueling. fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. dealers will inspect the fuel tank inlet check valve. vehicles found to have a suspect inlet check valve will have the fuel tank assembly replaced free of charge. the recall is expected to begin during april 2009. owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. this recall was the subject of a recall query, rq08-005, conducted by the office of defects investigation. 09v-003 many other owners with the same complaint of 2006: http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/car_problems/dodge-durango/2006/fuel_system_gasolinestoragetank_assemblyfiller_pipe_and_cap/ ____ http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/car_problems/dodge-durango/2006/fuel_system_gasoline/ ____ http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/car_problems/dodge-durango/2006/fuel_system_gasolinestoragetank_assembly/ ____ http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/car_problems/dodge-durango/2006/fuel_system_other/

Every time at fill up when fueling the vehicle, when the gas pump clicks off fuel shoots/spills out of gas tank opening. doing research on line i've discovered many other dodge durango's with the exact same problem. there has been a tsb # 14-001-12 and nhtsa ref. # 10043594 about the problem and durangos with certain vin#s have been fixed with this tsb. i thought all 2006 durangos would be fixed with this tech. service bulletin. when i inquired at the dealer on 6/9/12 about having the problem fixed i was told my vin # was not covered in the tsb. i contacted chrysler about the problem and had a rep. call me and ask what the problem was and that she never heard of the problem. i referred to the tsb notice and she still acted like she didn't know anything about it. all 2006 durangos should be covered by the lifetime warranty on parts and repairs listed in tsb 14-001-12. this is a very serious safety issue that could very well result in fire and death.

Tl- the contacts own a 2006 dodge durango. the contact stated that while driving 2 mph the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was able to be restarted immediately. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the contact was told that the vehicle stalled because her keys were too heavy. the keys were removed and later, the failure recurred. the dealer was notified again and the contact returned to the dealer who tested the fuel pump but could not replicate the failure. a month later, the failure recurred and the air bag warning light also illuminated. the manufacturer was notified but did not offer any assistance. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 78,490. kmj

The gas tank sprays a large amount of gasoline back out of the tank every time it is filled. this is a flammable and environmental hazard. it is the same symptom as in the 2005 dodge durango recall, yet the '06s are not included. this is clearly a manufacturing defect, yet dodge will not correct this, and it is a costly repair to the consumer.
06/10/201145000
This vin has a recurring gasoline fuel spit-back problem. first occurrence happened at approximately 45,000 miles + 5 years ownership and continues. vehicle cannot be fueled to 'full' without approximately 12 ounces of fuel spit-back and overflow onto vehicle body and ground. extremely hazardous. not coverage by recall or warranty.
