Defect SummaryWater leaking under windshield cowl in area above heater blower motor resistor block results in corrosion of the resistor terminals.
Consequence SummaryCorrosion of the resistor terminals increases electricalresistance, leading to overheating and possble ignition of the wiring connectorsand insulation, causing a fire in the cowl area.
Corrective SummaryThe blower motor resistor block will be replaced, and a mastic patch applied to seal the cowl against water entry. damaged wire connectors will be replaced.

 Whenever heater is turned on vehicle would fail to heat up. problem is listed on recall(#91v004000), but not for this vehicle. contacted dealer & mechanic ordered parts. mechanic informed owner/manufacturer a month later than recall notice. *ak

 Water leaking into area above heater blower motor resistor block may result in corrosion and or fire. consumer took car in for repair . consumer was told that there was a safety recall on the vehicle, manufacturer contacted. vin number given . manfufacturer stated vehicle was not under recall. *ak blower resistor had rusted due to water intrusion. the connector had built up resistance from poor connection and burned the resistor. *yh
