Defect SummaryThe abs hydraulic control unit can experience excessive brake actuator piston seal wear causing pump-motor deterioration.
Consequence SummaryIf this condition occurs, the abs function could be lost and reduced power assist would be experienced during vehicle braking increasing the potential for a vehicle accident.
Corrective SummaryDealers will test the vehicle's anti-lock brake system and repair the vehicles if necessary. also the warranty on all abs components will be extended to 10 years or 100,000 miles (except for the brake actuator piston assembly and the pump-motor assembly which will have a lifetime coverage). owners will also be reimbursed for previous abs component repair costs.

 Andy lewis dodge did not repair anti lock brakes on recalls they were hostile to me and my van was operable when left there. when i picked it up i had to have a wrecker take it home.the battery was dead and the antilock light continued to stay on. they never repaired the brake problem with the recalls. they are leaking now.

 Abs brake alarm and dual pressure switch was part of the recall but the pressure switch wasn't replaced. *ph there was also a problem with the vehicle not being able to start up due to a dead battery. *mr

 While driving approximately 30 mph consumer applied the brakes to come to a stop. when proceeding to pull off vehicle hesitated and would not move. when taken to dealer for service it was determined to be the abs not unlocking.*ak

 Upon receiving a recall notice consumer took the vehicle to service dealer for repairs of abs brakes. the service dealer told the consumer that he would need to pay for a diagnostic. consumer stated there were 7 recalls on this particular vehicle. the recall specifically stated there no charge to the consumer. *ak

 While driving,the consumer applied the brakes and a loud humming noise was heard from the front. the driver was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. the consumer informed the mechanic a recall notice #(v96099000) regarding the abs hydraulic unit was for this vehicle. the mechanic informed the consumer that the recall was performed in july of 1997 and the remedy was not available for again. please fill in additional information.*jb

 Brakes got red hot with smoke as the only indication. pedal stiff at top. no brake warning light and no abs amber warning light. lost pressure down to 14.5 psi in front driver side tire. tire too hot to touch. break break//////// on older transmission failure the fol. applies. transmission seized as though it went into park. van shook violently until neutral selected on gearshift allowing me to coast to stop. second complete transmission swap out. first was at 90k miles. still have part that failed. second failure i was almost hit from behind.

 The first repair we were charged with the replacement of the master cycl and the abs piston assy and we were never told it had been recalled, they charged us for 5 pints of brake fluid and all parts totalling $494.51 to complete this job. since they did not know about the recall. i really doubt they did the job correctly. the next occurrance explains the brake fluid. then approx 3 months later the brake system completely failed, they said they found a foriegn substance in the brake system, it looked like some type of grease, they said they contacted a area rep and they tested the fluid and found 20% of petrolium in the fluid. they were the only ones that have ever serviced our brake system, now they are denying all responsibility and will not honor the work they did. i talked to other chrysler dealers and they said this job only take 2 pints of brake fluid to complete this type of job. 5 pints is enough to fill the system 1 and a half times. i do not have a technical sheet from chrysler detailing the proced

 Abs brakes failed prior to recall, recall repairs performed. however electrical parts were not changed since they were not covered under the recall. owner paid $66.50. 96v-099.
 Consumer received a recall notice on the abs system. at the time the vehicle was o.k. vehicle is over the extended warranty of 10 years and 100,00 miles. the dealer is not willing to repair the seat at their expense. *ak
