There was no event leading to this failure, my airbag light has been continuously on for a few days, and now my horn and cruise control do not work. after researching this problem i have come across a recall for the clock-spring, which only includes 1998-2000 models. but have also read numerous complaints of it on the 2001 model as well. i have sent an email to daimler chrysler and have not gotten a response yet. i hope it does not take a serious injury or a death to have this part part of the original recall.

I have 2001 dodge grand caravan. the clockspring went bad. there are recall on many vehicle on previous year. the dealer told me that 2001 is not on the recall list and it will cost around $250 to repair it. it has been known the clockspring was a problem they might tried to fix the problem in 2001 model but it is not perfect. 2001 should be in the recall list.....

My 2001 dodge grand caravan airbag light is on. my horn and cruise control do not work as a result. contact dodge via email and was told this was not a recall item for my dodge grand caravan. this seems to be a clockspring issue. this was a issue on the 2000 dodge caravan- recall number 04v480000. *tr

Airbag light comes on intermittently, particularly on turns. talked with local chrysler dealer and his assessment pointed to the clockspring. researched on internet and it certainly appears there is an issue with this item. dealer indicated it is not covered by warranties or recall and would cost in excess of $200 to replace. i believe this to be a manufacturers defect and should be replaced at no cost to the customer. no accidents or adverse effects encountered to date. *tr

Nothing unusual leading up to this incident. the airbag light and our radio volume controls on the steering wheel for our 2001 dodge grand caravan were not working. after paying $70 to diagnose the dealer told us the clockspring was not working (it was open). i see that the prior year (2000) of caravan has this same problem. dodge issued a recall with lifetime warranty as this is not supposed to happen. *tr

My 2001 grand caravan 's air bag light keeps on appearing intermittently. i've had the clock spring replaced which failed to end the condition. i'm aware that if the light is on, the airbags will not deploy. i'm also aware that there was a recall campaign which ended with the 2000 models. so, i guess that a person or persons in a collision in a 2001 or greater caravan may or may not be protected by the airbags. i've seen a lot of complaints about this and i can't believe this has not been addressed as a major safety issue. i hope it will be and that no one dies or is crippled for life as a result of a faulty airbag system!!! *tr

The air bag light appears randomly on and off. according to my mechanic, if the light is on and there is a crash, the air bags will not deploy. i think this is a very serious issue. i had the clock spring replaced by my mechanic, and all was well for about a week and then it started all over again. also, failure speed is random. i would like some kind of resolution to this problem. i have heard this complaint from others and have seen it on the internet as well. please advise if possible. *tr

I currently own a 2001 dodge grand caravan-sport edition. the vehicle had an airbag clock spring replaced when the vehicle had about 25,000 miles. today the vehicle has 48,600 miles on it. the airbag light has come on once again just like the first time the clock spring failed. when the vehicle is in warm weather the light goes off. this has happened several times in the last few weeks. i have contacted the dealer that repaired it, i have been told that there is no current recall for this problem. i have been able to find a recall for model years 1998-2000 that describes the same issue with the clock spring. i feel that the problem was not corrected for this model year as well. can you please investigate this similar problem? *nm

Dealership informed me that my clockspring was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. the clockspring would have to be ordered and to return in one week at the start of the day to have it installed. when i returned, i was informed that it was still not available a was now due to it being on national backorder. the airbag light goes off and on at various times. it always comes on and stays on now at initial start up. plus the attention bell sounds at that same time. this can also occur when changing lanes and making turns. any motion of the steering wheel can make the light come on and bell ring at any time while vehicle is turned on. this occurs in any gear, as well as while it is in park. occassionally when driving on a straight-a-way, the light will go off. however a simple lane change makes it come on again. this malfunction makes me fear for my life as well as for others, whether they are my passengers or another vehciles occupants. my greatest fear is that the airbag will deploy while i am driving and cause me to have a serious or fatal accident. i also fear that if i am involved in anytype of accident that the airbag may not deploy at all. i strongly feel that my safety as well as others, is in serious jeapordy. how can i get this part into my dealership and resolved quickly? i anxiously await your needed reponse. thank you!*ak

Air bag light comes on intermittinly. tis has been going on for at least three years. i took it to my mechanic who said there was a recall on my model but only up to year 2000(figures). mechanic replaced clockspring but problem persists. mechanic said if light on during an impact, air bags will not deploy. i suppose someone must die or file suit before anything is done for all of us 2001 caravan owners. a recall to fix this should definitely be considered / instituted!

The air bag light goes on and off periodically. there was concern that the air bag would not deploy when needed or, conversely, it would deploy without any warning. took it to the dealer, he indicated that a spring needed to be replaced. as i was looking into recalls for this problem, i noticed that, although there was no recall, there were plenty of complaints. why is this defect allowed to coninue to give consumers problems, but there is no action from the manufacturer to fix via a recall? *nm
