I recently had my 2005 dodge grand caravan, 28000 miles, serviced only to find out that my front brakes are 100% gone, my throttle body is plugged up, and i had no power steering fluid. of course, as the dealership tells me, the warranty does not cover any of these repairs that need to be done.

Front brake failure excessive wear brake pads- about two weeks from acceptable pads to nothing metal on metal caused by hub bearing failure - allows the wheel to move horizontally on the axle shaft. there was no indication of bearing failure prior to brake pad wear failure of the hub bearings could be the reason for many of the brake pad wear problems on these vehicles had to replace the rear bearing hubs 6 months after purchasing the vehicle in 2005- replaced left and right front bearing hub assemblies, rotors, and brake pads also abs failure - sensors are controlled by the computer module which is prone to failure - controls all the electrical systems of the vehicle. so replacing individual wheel sensors does not fix the problem - only replacing the faulty computer control module will eliminate the problem until it fails again

I was driving to get lunch before picking up my son from school. i pulled into a burgerking parking lot as i went to stop at a stop sign the brake pedal went to the floor. when i finally stopped the mini van i noticed that there was a trail of brake fluid on the ground. upon further inspection the left front brake line had exploded. *tr

I was braking as i was descending a hill on the highway when the front brakes got so hot that my automobile started to shimmy. i stopped and discovered that my right front brakes were on fire. i had my front brakes pads and rotors replaced about 7,000 miles ago with mopar value line brakes at the dodge dealership. my vehicle is a 2005 dodge grand caravan with 56,380 miles on it. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the brake line on her vehicle has ruptured at least three times within the past eight months. while driving at an unknown speed, the brakes failed. the vehicle was repaired by a mechanic with parts purchased from the dodge dealer. the vehicle has been repaired three times for this failure and the contact is currently too afraid to drive the vehicle. the failures occur without warning. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 51,500.

Brakes fail completely every 20k miles, require full rotor / pad replacement. obvious design flaw, if they fail that quickly then certainly something more dangerous could occur. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. while driving 35 mph, the contact heard a loud grinding noise and the brake pedal went down to the floorboard. the dealer stated that the front brake pads were worn. the dealer replaced the brake pads and turned the rotors. approximately three months later, the abs warning light illuminated. the dealer stated that the vehicle needed front brake pads and performed the repair. while driving 25 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and it went down to the floorboard, making the vehicle difficult to stop. he had to apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that the brake line failed. the dealer replaced the brake line. approximately two months later, the vehicle experienced the same failure. the dealer has not diagnosed the cause of failure. the current mileage is 55,000 and failure mileage was 23,000.

I am concerned with overall quality control on this vehicle. i purchased this vehicle new to provide safety and comfort for my growing family. i was disappointed in the vehicles performance and gas mileage during the first several weeks of ownership. i returned the vehicle to the dealership and they replaced the oxygen sensor units that they said where defective. several months later the heater/air conditioning blower went out. next with less than 20,000 miles on the vehicle i had to replace the brakes. now with less than 28.000 miles on the vehicle i noticed that the passenger side floor was soaked, the vehicle was making unusual sounds when turning and the passenger side door would not close automatically. at the dealership i found out that the rack and pinion steering unit had failed along with the the cable on the passenger side door. on investigation of the water leak the dealership found that the passenger side pillar had not been sealed properly to the roof causing water to run into the van and rot the carpet. while the vehicle is in for repairs the dealership is also replacing the heater/air conditioner blower which is making grinding sounds again. *nm

Since purchasing in 2004. i have had to take back the van numerous times to complain to the dealership about noises while driving in the steering brakes and front right wheel base area. brakes popping and scrubbing, wheel base makes a scrubbing/cracking noises, and there was a whining noise while slowing at stops and in parking lots. they have replaced a map light. my sliding doors have stopped working once but the problem has not occurred again to take to the dealer. at a red light when it turned green i went to go and the engine cut off would not restart immediately. luckily no one was behind me and no oncoming traffic. i was on a hill and able to roll to the side and put the van back in park to restart. 08/11/05 took to dealer ship and they performed a computer flash update and listed a label aut and label gen part. here are the service dates when i took in it each time to complain about steering and driving noises. 08/04/05 took to dealer ordered parts serviced on 08/11/05 replaced power steering reservoir. 11/17/05 replaced rack and pinion. 08/16/06 took in brakes starting making noises told we had 20% left at 16,812 miles they told us to replace the brakes. 08/16/06 also had them look at the same noise as before and they lubed/greased strut dust covers. 11/08/06 took back for same noises and they replaced the sway bar links found my steering fluid low, replaced fluid and stated they could not find any cracks/leaks. i am still hearing noises come from the right front wheelbase. the power steering fluid has fixed the whining noises as of today. the brakes are not popping. they said the sway bar links fixed the popping. *nm

Premature front brake failure-- we purchased our 2005 dodge grand caravan new, in late spring 2004. since then, we have had to replace the front brakes twice, once at 18,000 miles, and now at 35,000 miles. our driving habits have not changed and previously (for the last 25 years, with 5 different cars) we have gone 30,000 - 40,000 miles between brake jobs. this vehicle replaced a 10-year old plymouth grand voyager which had no problems with brake wear. the dealer service manager says he has seen 2005 grand caravans coming in needing brake jobs at about 25,000 miles, but not 18,000 miles. yet, neither the dealer nor chrysler admits that there is a system or component problem. i spoke with chrysler customer service and they were, at best, reluctantly helpful. they have agreed to pay for the parts, but not the labor. so, i have now had to pay, in part, for front brake jobs twice in less than 3 years, averaging less than 18,000 miles between the repairs. this is totally unacceptable. needless to say, if chrysler doesn't do something else to remedy this situation, this will be the last chrysler product i will own...and i will not be keeping this minivan much longer. *nm

First noticed popping/rubbing noise in front end. took in and they replaced the front stabilizer bushings and etc.. that was in oct 2005. i have taken back to wilson dodge in jackson, ms 3/4 times since. the problem still exist. the service man said he hear noise when turning 1/4 to right. but when i went to pick up vehicle they had not done anything to it. i have a friend that's a mechanic. he said the rack and pinion system is going out and is bad. i have stated this to wilson dodge. they wanted me to sign the last paper work but i would not sign because they had not fixed problem. i am taking to other dodge dealer ship this week to see if they can find problem. also i had to replace the brakes already at 26,000 miles. and they said i needed new rotors. this is ridiculous. i had a 1998 dodge caravan and only had to replace brakes once on it and it had 98,000 miles on it. *jb

My dodge grand caravan 2005 was bought used at boniface-hiers at merritt island florida in march 2005. i've had brake problems since. the dealers repair shop foreman had someone look at it in april 2005: said he did me a favor; there is no warranty. brakes shake and abs doesn't work. brakes also lock. dangerous. i traveled to maine for the summer. many close calls. on 11-20-05, after being told verbally that brakes are not warranty item, i sent a complaint card. today, i'm going to boniface-hiers[monday] and a daimler-chrysler rep is supposed to look into the defects. *jb
