VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL - ACCELERATOR PEDAL
01/01/19011
2005 dodge grand caravan customer states that after 60 mph the accelerator pedal starts to stick**cc the consumer was informed that a new air filter was needed. also, the cause was that the throttle housing where the butterfly is was dirty and that at high speed the metal heated up and expanded and the carbon around the butterfly would cause it to stick. the consumer was also told that carbon was in the engine and it needed to be cleaned along with the fuel injectors. the consumer was told to expect the problem to happen again. *jb
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL - CRUISE CONTROL
08/10/200785000112/18/2005
The first indication of a problem was the airbag light on the dash remaining on occasionally after the vehicle was started. the problem then progressed to the airbag light remaining on continuously and the cruise control function and horn (both of which are mounted on the steering wheel) not working. these symptoms were identical to those experienced by earlier years of this vehicle model that resulted in a safety recall for replacement of the clock spring in the steering wheel. i had the clock spring replaced, which corrected the problems. *tr

Traveling on the interstate for a couple of continuous hours with the cruise control set at a constant speed and mild hills. when i went to press on the brake pedal on a level area of freeway the cruise control did not want to disengage. after applying very strong force to the brake pedal for a second or two (and being in shock because the vehicle was not slowing and i was fast approaching a large truck in my lane) i finally disengaged it by punching the off button on the steering column. if the cruise control had not disengaged or if traffic would have been heavier an accident may have happened at the legal speed limit of 75 mph in a remote area with all of my family aboard heading on vacation. *jb

When the cruise control is engaged, and i pass another vehicle, the speed of my car will drop 3-5 mph below the preset speed after i have passed the vehicle, and then will increase to the preset speed. i have contacted the manufacturer and the dealer and was told today that the manufacturer is aware of this problem but feels repairs are not necessary. *jb
