Prior to 9/6/2012, engine light came on for what the dealer said no reason. then on 9/6/2012, van broke and would not start. it appeared as if stuck in all gears and i was told this was an electrical problem. there is a recall on this type/year of van for electrical problems, recall #11v139000;however, no recall shows up for my van vin #. i don't feel this vehicle is safe. the dealer has had my vehicle for a week now along with another one same make and model/year that they are having the same issue. there is a definite problem with this model vehicle. my vehicle is still not repaired or exact problem diagnosed. yet, they expect me to drive it again when i get it back. these electrical issues need to be further evaluated. yes my van was in a parking lot but that was lucky. please look into this further. the dealer don't even understand the problem on these 2 grand caravans per our last conversation we had today.

Our 2010 dodge grand caravan minivan, has been for the past 6 months been stalling sporadically. today, it came to a head. we were 45 minutes north of our house and heading home. 10 minutes of driving to get to the freeway and 20 minutes on the freeway, in the center lane, 3 lanes wide, pouring outside, it is 8:50pm, and lightening out as well. our minivan just died on the freeway, with a fair amount of traffic. we were able to pull over quickly as the minivan shook to a halt, we were going 70 miles per hour. yesterday, when i tried starting it it died right away, twice. the dealership knows about this as they see the minivan for this about every month, and they always say nothing comes up on the computer, nothing is wrong with it. i have complained to chrysler about this. they say it is because it happens right after we have filled up with gas. well, we didn't just fill up with gas today, and have only a half tank of gas, when this happened. out of the countless times this has died on us, it has only died 2 times after filling up. there is no rhyme or reason when this happens, can be morning or afternoon, we rarely drive in the evening. cold or hot days. chrysler has said that this issue is related to the new key, and recalled it, well we have had that changed at least 3 times already.

We had our ignition repaired 2 times already. once because the ignition shut off the engine at 60 miles per hour. then again for the recall for the ignition moduler that was why the engine was getting shut off by the ignition and now the key will not come out of the ignition. we took the van to the dealership and explained that the key will not come out unless we play with turning on and off the van, putting it in reverse then forward, out of park into drive and wasting a lot of time and gas just to get it to come out. the service tech said first the key was into too loose before the recall and now it is in too tight after the recall part was put in. so after driving 100 miles for service we are told make sure to put the van in park and the key should come out. well it does not. nothing shows up on their computers so they will not fix the problem. the key will not turn off the engine so if the key is left in the battery could go dead. i have to go through off and on, drive, reverse to get the key out. i am afraid that the ignition problem could turn the engine off again at 60 miles an hour. no one is helping us because, in my opinion, this is the third repair on the ignition, making the van a lemon. so this is why we got no receipt of service for the tech telling us to put the van in park. my husband was a state trooper and taught defensive driving classes at the police acedemy. i have been driving for 45 years. so we both know how to put the van in park and how to remove a key from an ignition. chysler has not responded to our complaint.

Twice in the past two months the aluminum valve stems that hold the tpms sensors on our grand caravan have broken off. 1st incident in april while vehicle was parked in driveway and second while my wife and children, age 5 and 4 years, were traveling at highway speeds. the second incident stranded my wife and children in 100+ degree f heat for close to an hour while they had to wait for aaa to arrive and change the spare for them. thankfully it was a rear tire that blew out and not a front. could have ended much worse. upon inspection noticed that tire sidewall had excessive wear from loosing air at highway speeds and being driven to safe stopping position. decided to go ahead and purchase four new tires because wife and children will be taking an extended driving trip soon. noticed that the 2011 and 2012 models now have the much more reliable rubber valve stems and sensors instead of the failing aluminum stems. a little research shows that they will interchange directly. asked dealer if they would replace all four with more reliable stem at time of tire change. said yes, but only if i pay for them. amount? close to $400.00 why should the customer pay for a part that is poorly designed and known for failure. a little research of the nhtsa website for for multiple model years of dodge and chrysler vehicle shows that this has been an issue for a number of years now and has amassed a large number of complaints. are we just waiting until some person gets seriously injured or killed before this gets addressed? luckily my wife and children were not injured, i just hope everyone else is just as lucky.

After getting a flat tire, took car to a tire shop. found no problem with the tire. the shop showed me the wheel sensor transmitter that was completely corroded. the nut holding it in place had disintegrated, causing the tire to abruptly lose all air. car has only 23,500 miles on it and has been in use for 2 years and 4 months. i also believe something similar happened to one of the front tires at 17,000 miles, due to constant low tire pressure, even after replacing the tires. but that was handled at the dealership and i was not given the part.

Shifter knob fell off while parking. there has been other issues. when i start the car if will turn off by it self. we bought the car june 2011 and 3 months later at 40k miles the rotors started going out. i've research these issues and they so sp common that it is extremly uncomfortable even owning it.

My factory installed sunroof has leaked several times flooding the inside of the van with as much as 1 1/2 of water collecting in the console. water pours out of the electrical console on the ceiling of the van and more seriously the button on the door jams from where the side curtain airbags deploy. also on to the dash seeping in to electronic stuff inside the dash. my major saftey concern is for electric fires and more important for the airbags(have they gotten wet? has the electrics involved gotten wet? what might that cause?) which i feel may be compromised causing them to malfunction when needed.

While traveling southbound on i-75 at milepost 263.3 a faint alarm of some kind came on. then the engine began making a noise and quit. when i pulled over to the side of the highway the engine compartment shot flames and smoke from under the hood. i was attempting to release the hood latch when flames burst in through the firewall under the dash. we then abandoned the vehicle and called 911. by the time a fire truck arrived the van was totally burned. i have the vehicle serviced regularly and had just replaced the tires and brakes. i have no idea what the cause might have been but it bears looking into.

My husband, 2 year old son, and i were 2 hours away from home on a camping trip. we were driving home on the highway and our 2010 dodge grand caravan shut off. thank god no one was close behind us and we were able to put the car in neutral and restart it. when i came home, i see they have know about this since at least march, and we have received no recall information. we are now afraid to drive the only car we have, as we are afraid next time, we will get rear ended because of this.

1st occurrence: while driving, the engine shut off, 11/13/10. had vehicle towed to dealer. they replaced pcm program control module. 2nd occurrence: 3/5/11. engine shut off while driving. could not control car, hit a snow bank and cracked front bumper. had vehicle towed to dealer. they said no codes were issued by the computer. contacted chrysler and was assigned a case manager. vehicle still at dodge dealer as of 3/14/11. no solution. we are afraid to use the car let alone on the highway. several u.s. reports of same problem on internet. posted problem on autobeef.

2010 dodge grand caravan se shut down with loss of steering control when turning left in to a parking lot. was able to stop, put vehicle into park and restart with no issues. as with other complaints, very scary if this happens at a busy intersection. scary enough to mention it to my wife so that if something should happen to me in an accident and witnesses say i just seemed to stop right in front of another vehicle, she will know what the cause of the accident is.

Driver arm rest does not support weight and will fall down cauising driver to briefly lose control of car. we took the car to the dealership today and was told this is a design flaw and there is nothing they can do to correct this problem. so i have a 2010 dodge grand caravan se that has all kinds of problems like only getting 19 miles to a gallon when advertised as 25 and now the arm rest basically collaspeses any time weght is put on it on the driver's seat. all the other arm rests are supportive except the one you need most. the service department told me other customers have voiced the same complaint and he could take me to the new vans on the lot and show me the same problem with cars never driven so i know this is a defective arm rest just by what he has told me.

On april 30, 2010 my 2010 dodge caravan emergency break was broken, and replaced by dealership. on november 24, 2010, our emergency break has gone out yet again, and will need to be replaced. along with our emergency break going out, i have noticed the oil change light continuously stays on, even after each oil change completed and light reset has been completed, within1-3 days the light comes back on.

Lemon vehicle but dealer states that it is not: 2010 dodge grand caravan sxt 4.0l , intermittent stalling of the engine without warning or service lights, will restart. stalling began in june 2010, was purchased in 3/10. dealer has not been able to replicate the stalling failture due to the intermittent nature. repairs attempted: reprogramming, moving a wiring harness, replacement of wireless control module. seems to stall more on left turns, or when outside temperatures are 90+ degrees for long periods. also had to have rear brakes and rotors replaced due to premature warping and brake failure: repair replaced components, only to still have driver side working harder than left and front brakes, finaly oil leak appeared and diagnosis was a failed oil cooler, repair: replace oil cooler: to be done on 10/4/10. overall vehicle is unsafe due to the unannounced stalling issue.

I have a 2010 dodge grand caravan. this van has shut down four times now while i have been driving it. this happened again this past weekend at the highest spped we have ever been traveling when the engine shuts down; 45 mph. my current mileage is 9400. the first time i noticed this routine engine shut down while driving was around 5,000 miles @ 06/2010. as far as speeds when it shuts down, it has happened around 45 mph, 35 mph, and the other two times prior were much slower speeds. the dealership said there is nothing they can do about it. the car also seems to stall out and not start about 1 out of 30 starts. i have filed a complaint with chrysler on the van routinely shutting down and steering wheel locking. the van will restart once it stops, but this is a death accident waiting to happen. i hope somebody reads this and looks into it. i have the 3.3l v6 engine.

Supplemental to case 10315972. first event 2/10/10. after repeated complaints to the dealer, dodge installed computer to catch codes during next event. after one week and no more incidents, they removed the computer. have not been driving the van since then. too scared. drove today 5/12/10 and shut down again. this time upon accelerating from parking lot speed of about 6-8 miles as the doors automatically locked the engine cut out. scheduled to take to the dealer for them to take a look at it.
