 Tl- the contact owns a 1999 dodge intrepid. the contact stated while traveling 35 mph the vehicle completely shut down without warning. the contact then merged to the side of the road. after sitting for a day the vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not taken to a mechanic nor was it repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 163,900 and the current mileage was 164,000. mh

 Purchased vehicle 01/30/12,test drove,checked fluids,made sure everything was working fine. seller said he just had oil change and smog 1 month prior, he provided me documents confirming. had no issues with vehicle, until about 03/20/12,the oil light came on, which was odd. i checked the oil,found it was completely empty, put 2 quarts in immediately,light went off. i started checking driveway daily for signs of oil leaking even though the car drove fine.03/28/12, car stalled,went completely dead, as i exited freeway, leaving myself and my 3yr. old stuck in lane on off ramp for about 30 minutes.a passerby attempted to jump it,that didn't work,car had no power at all,we pushed it to a safer spot. i walked 2 blocks home. came back next day,jumped it,it started but now there was a knocking sound coming from engine and oil light was back on. i checked the oil it read full,i drove car home it stalled 3 times in the 2 blocks home. knocking sound continued i parked the car. the next day i took the car to my mechanic the oil light was still on the engine was still knocking. he checked oil again and confirmed the car did have oil,and detected no signs of leaking. he ran a diagnostic on engine, it detected no issues,he ran it again,and the results where the same. he drove the car,me in the passengers seat so he could get a hear the knocking sound when car was moving.backed out of lot driving about 10 to 12 mph, we got maybe half a block and the car went dead. he was able to guide car to side of road,when he pressed the brake to put the car in park, there was a barely audible bursting sound.we got out and found a thick black muddy type substance gushing out of the bottom from the front end, leaving a puddle the length and width of car. he immediately identified it as oil sludge, and said my engine had blown. we discussed my options and ultimately i had to have the car towed home it hasn't started. *tr

 I purchased a 1999 dodge intrepid. i have complete service records for the vehicle showing that on avg. the oil was changed every 3000 to 3600 miles. when driving at night during one of the snowfalls, the engine started to putter and eventually fail. i have my receipts showing that the oil was changed just three weeks prior and there was no warning of any issues. i had thee car taken to the dealer by tow the next morning to only be told a few days later that it is going to cost me $6400 to have it repaired?

 I own a 1999 dodge intrepid es and while driving, the car just quits and i have to coast to a safe area off the road. the engine just kills. once stopped, i try starting the engine. it just turns over and won't start. after waiting about 3 to 5 minute, it will start up as if no problem. mechanic can not diagnose the issue through computer, because it won't store the fault code. it happens on a monthly basis, approximately. i have replaced cam sensor, crank sensor, timing belts, and no fix. it's almost as if there is a bad ground to a electrical sensor or exposed wire. plugs and wires were replaced, but no solution. i'm just looking for someone who has eventually solved this issue. the car isn't that bad, replaced a lot of electrical sensor components, but would just like to solve this problem permanently. any advice or solutions are more than welcome please. it's somewhat nerve racking to drive, not knowing when the next problem will occur. please help. *tr

 Dt*: the contact stated while the vehicle was in gear, the vehicle shut off. on three different occasions, the steering rack bolts came out for the steering wheel. the fuses have blown five times and the brake and interior lights are not working.

 Dt*: the contact stated there are several problems with the vehicle. the first problem is an intermittent failure of the interior lights. the dealer replaced a computer chip and this remedied the problem for a short time. the vehicle occasionally failed to start. the battery was replaced and appeared to remedy the problem. however, there were rust and white spots in the driveway underneath the vehicle where the battery is located. shortly after christmas all the interior lights dimmed and the vehicle lost all power while driving 45mph at night, but normal operation resumed when the vehicle was restarted after several hours. the vehicle has been seen by the dealer several times, but the dealer has never been successful in identifying the underlying electrical problem. lastly, the contact took the vehicle in for an oil change at the local dealer. during the oil change the oil plug was damaged causing a slow leak. the dealer made three attempts at repair, but oil continues to leak from both the top of the engine and underneath. the vehicle received regular service through the local dealer exclusively.

 The car has had a/c problems. electrical problems. window problems. transmission problems. and the 2.7 motor has been out of service since 2003! i need help. i still owe $8000.00 plus on this thing and i have not been able to use it since the fall of 2003. thank you. *jb

 Dt: consumer discovered that she could not unlock the back passenger door, and husband would have to open rear right side door from inside for anybody to get inside. the vehicle had 35,000 miles on it. took vehicle to dealer for repairs, and dealer replaced latch activator for $257, and diagnosed this a circulatory electrical problem. this happened again to front passenger door. spoke with chrysler, who asked for an estimate, but did not reimburse consumer for this work. took vehicle to dealer and again replaced latch activator with diagnosis of the same problem. this happened at 39,000. owner's son has chrysler vehicle as well and has experienced the same problem. *ak *tt

 While driving 40 mph driver noticed that the srs light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the srs sensor needed to be replaced. *ak updated 12/7/2005. the air bag light is still on and the mileage had disappeared. *nm

 This is a 1999 dodge intrepid, that i have had plenty of problems out of. this was purchased at 29,569 miles, 10/99. jan 2000 the inner sensor went out, replaced by dealer under warranty. july 2000 the outer sensor went out, replaced by dealer not under warranty per milage at time. aug 2000 the passenger fan went out, replaced by dealer at a cost of $500. sense then replaced brakes often, burn lots of oil and plenty of hesitation from the transmission. but my other biggest problem is the window motor,that has gone out in the passenger window twice and now the driver window has completely fail apart. you here nothing but noise when closing the door, cannot let the window up and down without its sounding like its going to break from popping like its getting caught on something. most of the time you have to pull it up by hand in order to get it to close completely. has their been a recall on this item? *ak

 History includes blown transmission sensor, failure on the very first year inspection for brake rotors, driver's side window sticks in up position, intermittent heat control button not functioning properly, noisy when turning in front strut area, keyless remote does not function properly and now the worst of it. one month ago, took car in with oil and engine lights flashing, ticking noise from engine, stalling out. dealer did electronic sensors repairs and tune up costing $500. one month later, car had to be towed back to dealer with loud banging in engine. repair bill of over $6,000 to fix a car i've owned 3 years, 8 months and 60,000 miles. 2.7 l engines are blowing in these cars all the time making it next to impossible to purchase a used one to do repairs myself. one used car parts place said they have a waiting list. recall anyone???!! *nlm

 I was driving on the interstate as car started a rattling noise and lost power,and would not start again. the car was towed to dealer, and i was told that the engine was blown at 88,000 miles. there were no working dash lights to alert of any problem. the dealer could not give explanation. the car is under full warranty and oil has been changed regularly. estimated cost 5,000 dollars. *nlm

 In and out of morlans, inc (dodge dealer) several times because of the electrical sytem causing the check engine light to come on with many different codes such as rough idle-transmission not shifting /down shifting-transmission control module replaced-camshaft sensor replaced-ignition coil pack replaced-these were done while still under warranty at different dates. just recently 3/25/01 my transmission went into a limp mode again at 40,000 miles-this time it was a transmission input speed sensor (my cost $92.00), when i got my car back now my heater- a/c and rear defrost control / vents don't work ? diagnosed problem electrical (charged $50.00) again with the control head / board control module. i've made several calls to the chrysler corp. without avail for assistance. please give any help possible to correct these electrical defects. thank you. *ak

 Purchased in march of 1999: 6/02/99-rear window leak-repaired free of charge, 6/07/01-tires-$211.14 1/24/02-camshaft position sensor-49,550 miles-$170.80, 7/12/02-a/c system blowing warm. freon&a/c dye-55,771 miles-$71.77, 7/16/02-install new coolant tube, install new air box(a/c/water outlet tube, antifreeze)-55,956 miles-$294.68, 7/18/02-replace engine with new-56,783 miles-$4,396.00. 7/18/03-rental car and motel charges for engine repair-$125.00 11/29/02-brake inspection-70,000 miles-$14.03, 4/29/03-window regulator and window(driver window)-62,072 miles-$424.82, 5/02/03-parts for brakes-$163.37(personally installed), 6/13/03-battery replacement-63,772 miles-$145.57, 7/23/03-install sop vacuum hose for pcv,replaced vacuum tube from pcv valve to valve cover-67,753 miles-$65.20, 10/29/03-transmission & starter-approx.70,000 miles-have not had it fixed due to financial difficulties-still at cortese dodge in henrietta, ny. (quote about $3,400.00-will not know until they tear the transmission apart) the above are the problems that we have had with this car that we purchased brand new in 99. we still owe the bank approx. $7,000.00. the approx. total of repairs(out of our pockets)$9,700.00. new car cost $22,930.64+$6,420.98(finance charges)=$29,351.62. we did have regular oil changes that we had done professionally and i did it myself.

 Vehicle stalld after beeing cut off. 3 weeks ago, on 02-08-2000, dealer said it was the battery . 2nd time it was taken back to dealer, who said that cable was wrong on the battery. 3rd time, dealer claimed it was the alarm system that wasn't hooked up rightly. on 02-28-2000, dealer told consumer it could be 3-4 things, to check to see why vehicle was stalling. *ak

 Our car failed to start normally. this is the second time our car would turn over and over and would not start. i noticed this time all of the gauges and dashboard light weren't working either. after a number of hours, we tried on and off many times, the engine finally started to sputter and eventually started. *nlm
 After consumer put keys in the ignition, it wouldn't turn. consumer has to wiggle keys for 20-30 minutes before it turns. the dealership cannot located the cause of the problem. ph

 On three separate occasions i've had the same problem. the first time i was driving with my brother and cousin when the car just started to shake and just stalled out i had know steering, or brakes. it was a very scary situation. the next time i was driving home from work it was only about 4 months from the first time this happened when i was making a turn and the car had no steerin or brakes i thank god there were no cars or someone could have gotten hurt . i had to drive the car into a bush to stop it. this time i was leaving the drive thru and the car fail me once again. no brakes ,steering or even the gas pedal worked. please help me i don't have the funds to repair the car, personnally i don.t want this car i'm so afraid of driving it. i afraid for myself and the other people on the road. does someone need to get hurt before someone just takes this car and dumb it. like i said i'm very afraid to drive this car because the problem keeps coming back . whether if my younger brother,, or mother was driving the car i did not experience the problem as i have in the past something seriouly could of happened to them. what would the company have done then. so please help me. thank you in advance joe suarez. *ak

 1999 dodge intrepid es: keys jammed in the ingition on 3 different ocassions, keys would become stuck, keys would become jammed, had to move key back and fourth and work it out until ignition would click and would turn or keys could be removed. this could be dangerous if someone needed to use car in emergency or get away from danger.*ak

 My wife was driving back from the store when the engine just stop and locked up right in the middle of the highway, she was able to coast the car of the side of the road. we had a mechanic look at it, the reason for the failure was the engine ran out of oil. the oil light never came on, not once, the mechanic could not find out where it went to, but couldn't. i had this car for about 11 months before this and checked the oil on a weekly basis. how could this happen. how could a dodge dealer sell this car. now i'm stuck with an $11,000 paper weight in my drive way. i think dodge should replace my engine and figure out why something went wrong.*ak

 1999 dodge intrepid 2.7 vin#2b3hd46r7xh743055, 43,913 miles, transmission sensor went out, $132.84. 9/14/00 75,085 miles, water outlet and transmission lines needed replaced. mechanic informed me the transmission lines were factory installed defective. $582.24. 12/14/01 86,992 miles, timing chain broke, replaced water pump. $1,188.79. 6/14/02. 91,324 miles, transmission speed sensor broke. $350.60. 8/2/02 96,828 miles, dash lights went out. mechanic informed me the dash lights were an internal wiring defect. $223.30. 10/2/02 98,003 miles, cooling fan went out. mechanic informed me this was a factory defect. chrysler had changed the design of the fans so i could not just repair one side of the fan since it was no longer available. $680.35. 10/24/02. 109,754 miles, engine blew, taking starter with it. told by mechanic that chrysler designed the 2.7 engine to be a disposable engine (compared to the 3.2 that year). replaced with used engine. $4174.49. 5/21/03 i had over $7000 in repairs in under a year and a half. while im gravely disappointed in the mechanics of this vehicle, i feel that the fan assembly, transmission lines, and electrical wiring are things that were obviously defective from the start and should be repaired free of charge. additionally, the transmission sensor going out at only 43,913 miles should have been replaced free as well. while it is difficult to prove that i took care of the engine, i have oil change receipts. *nlm

 While driving there was a burning rubber smell. driver pulled vehicle on the shoulder and cut ignition off. right afterwards smoke came from under the hood, and under the dash broad. there was a fire, in which the vehicle was totalled. fire was put out by the fire department. please provide any further information. *ak

 On 7/30/04 while driving to work my car seemed to begin idling high. while taking off from a stop sign, my whole car jerked and made a loud clunk sound. my speedometer quit working, my check engine light came on and my car would not shift out of high. i made it to work and called the closest dealer and was told it was a sensor. made it to the dealership, to have car checked and was told it was definately the sensor. i was also told that i had the best warranty and would be no problem. also told them the passenger window in the front only worked occasionally and i had received recalls. also explained that windshield washer bottle was broken. ended up paying over $380.00 to have car repaired and declined fixing the windshield washer bottle because that would cost an additional $200+. i feel this is very dangerous, since speedometer quit working and engine was stuck in high. dealership acted like no big deal and i am still upset at paying over $380 and having the best warranty. *ak

 I purchased this vehicle in march of 2001. i have had nothing but trouble with it ever since. i have had electrical, air conditioning, and transmission problems which has resulted in approximately $2,600 in repairs in the year that i have owned it. i have contacted the crysler corp. and they did not help me in anyway. the car orignally had a 36,000 mile 3 year warranty on it. now the crysler corp. offers a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty on all their vehicles. this the first crysler product and the last one i will ever buy. i have previously owned gm products and currently own a 1997 ford f-150 pickup and i am very satisfied with it. is there any help you can give me? i have all receipts for all repairs since i have owned the vehicle. *ak

 While driving excessive movements occur within steering wheel and column. also, after vehicle is parked steering wheel does not lock up. *ak within first 2 months of ownership, engine light illuminated. every hose and wire under the hood had tape on them, dealer stated that every vehicle came from the manufacturer like that. consumer questioned why the steering wheel panel would not snap or stay in place, dealer could not answer that question. *slc

 Over usage of oil. could not make it from one oil change to the next. took it in faithfully every 3 months. fans went out. faulty intake replaced. a/c went out, drivers side window falls off track. motor out in drives side back window. passenger side door sticks and wont open. engine blows. all major repairs occurred within a four month period, the minor items have been occurring for approx. a year. the car has low miles. i can no longer have repairs made to this vehicle and make payments at the same time. i will return it to the bank. it has been in and out of the shop for the past four months. *jb

 Car was 4 months old - driving down i-70 and had a blowout. the tire split clean in to. was told that i must of hit a pot hole. on 9/13/99 i had taken the car into the dealership and told them the tire was losing air. they said they couldn't find a problem, aired up the tire and i left. little over a month later i had a blow out. i did not hit a pot hole. the tire was defective. i had to replace the tire with my own money.*ak (tiresize: p205/70r15)
