Defect SummarySabersport is recalling 16,270 combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies of various part numbers sold for use as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles. these headlamps fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. these lamps do not contain the required amber side reflectors.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2001 dodge intrepid. the contact noticed that the headlights on his vehicle began to fog approximately five years ago. on september 29, 2006, at 42,000 miles, he took the vehicle to the dealer for repair. the dealer stated that nothing could be done and both headlights needed to be replaced. one headlight is heavily fogged and the other is approximately 60-70% fogged. the failure mileage was 20,000 and current mileage was 48,000.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2001 dodge intrepid. the contact stated that moisture would gather inside of the headlights, causing visibility to be impaired. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. she attempted to consult the manufacturer, but was never able to speak with anyone. the current and failure mileages were approximately 92,000. updated 6/16/08 *cn

 Dt: the contact stated the headlight assembly was cloudy. he felt this was a safety issue. the vehicle was to a dealership were they could not duplicate the problem.*ak

 Nasty smell from a/c, suspension/axles and other problems with dodge intrepid. *bf there were scratches on the cover of the radio program, problems with the window and door lock, the right passenger front had pin holes, the front end was loud grabbing and knocking, the driver door window displayed a thump noise and the motor on the window continued to run even after the window was closed, the passenger seat cover had a big gauge which was made on the console and the glove box cover door, there were spots on the interior of the front head light inside of the glass, the engine would surge, the front passenger door made squeaking noises, air bag light was intermittent, speaker damage, the right and left front windows squeaked mostly on the left side motor, the right window did not work at all, the left rear anchor cover was broken, the brakes were noisy, the engine light was intermittent, the tire experienced excessive wear, and there was a grabbing on right turns. recall#03v035000. *sc

 The headlights on my 2001 dodge intrepid flash bright & dim on both high and low beam. the light behind the speedometer, fuel gauge, etc. also flashes at the same time. the dealership has been unable to duplicate the problem. i have been told the headlights will have to fail before they can start replacing parts. *ak

 Headlights come on and go out by themselves when car is turned off. headlamp switch acts as if it is wired backwards - when car is started and headlamp switch is in the off position, the headlights come on, and when the headlamp switch is turned to the on position, the headlights go off. going in for repair 8/9/06. *jb
