Defect SummaryChrysler is recalling 4,314 my 2009 dodge journey, jeep grand cherokee, commander and wrangler vehicles. wiring may be reversed on the steering column control module driver airbag squib connector. the driver's airbag may not deploy as intended.
Consequence SummaryIn the event of a crash, the driver's airbag may not properly inflate and may not be able to properly protect an occupant, increasing the risk of injuries.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the driver's airbag squib wires and replace the steering column control module free of charge. the recall is expected to begin during may 2009. owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

 My airbag light and throttle light were on as well as the engine light. i contacted service repair department, md where i purchase the vehicle. 2009 dodge journey. i was advised this was due to a recall repair that needed to take place. to bring the car in (march, 2011) after the first repair - the airbag light went out - but the engine light and the throttle light stayed on. i was told the repair would be covered by warranty and possibly was connected with the recall. it has been seven (7) times going back and forth to get this repair. at the time of this writing - my journey is back with them again. not only have i had to take time off from work to bring the car in to them. it has been an inconvenience going back and forth. apparently, after the 2nd time - someone doesn't know what they are doing. i am currently working with the service manager, and the original service associate and still had to take the vehcile back. there is a lack of genuine customer service and some service partners do not know how to stay calm when dealing with a situation like this. i feel i have been taken for granted and i it has been a tremendous inconvenience in adjusting our work, vacation and travel schedules. they have finally given us a rental after 7 times and told us that they purchased a brand new computer system to help fix the situation. it sounds far fetch that a brand new computer system would be purchased to fix one vehicle. we feel like we are being lied to and want the vehicle replaced. we ride our family (including grandchildren) in this vehicle from time to time and want to be safe. march to june 2011 is entirely too long for the same exact repair to be worked on.

 Tl- the contact owns a 2009 dodge journey. while driving approximately 65 mph the air bag light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the garage who performed a diagnosed that located the failure at the driver door wires were worn. the garage replaced the wires. the manufacturer took a report 20274743. the failure and the current mileage were 42,000. li

 Tl*the contact owns a 2009 dodge journey. while driving 30 mph, the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the sensors. the failure recurred nine months later. currently, the dealer is repairing the vehicle. she believes that such a new vehicle should not have these defects so soon. the failure mileage was 5,500 and current mileage was 14,900.

 I was sitting stopped in rush hour traffic on 06.17.2008 on hwy 270. a truck traveling at approx 60 mph hit the rear of the journey . the truck remained connected and pushed the journey forward into 3 additional cars and one pickup truck. most vehicles suffered heavy damage and me and two others were transported to emergency rooms. the police report indicated 86' of skid marks and the truck driver was ticketed + assigned 100% blame. my injuries included chest compression, briefly blacked-out, heavy bruising from the left shoulder to the left knee, strained neck and nerve damage. pre-accident i was in the driver's seat and wearing the seat belt/shoulder harness. post accident my upper body was against the driver door with the steering wheel compressed against my chest. the front and side journey airbags did not deploy. the lap and shoulder belt did not prevent me from being thrown into the steering wheel and out of the drivers seat. i did not have seat belt burn marks that may be expected from a high speed multiple impact accident of this kind. the journey traveled approx 60' after impact was subject to 1 hard impact to the rear and 4 hard impacts to the front. the journey repairs cost $15,000. it has been 2.5 years since the accident and i have cronic pain and loss of motion in the neck.

 Purchase a dodge journey 2009. i inform the dealer that the windows were not coming down as they should. didn't get fixed. the keyless remote was suppose to be with the car it wasn't, they installed a after market keyless remote, don't work correct. the brakes were sweaking and could hear air within the car when applying brakes. i was told that theres nothing wrong and it was normal. it has been 4 to 5 months later now its not starting . contact chrsyler llc , told me i had to have it towed to a dealer , get diagnoise , get it fixed and i have to pay for it all and they will remiburse half for the part , labor is all on me. the vehicle has done this no start problem 3 times in 2 and half days. also notice that the steering column gets hot for some unforseen reason . inform the dealer i purchase my journey from , i was told that is normal. still have the journey can't trade in back because i have no money , so i am stuck with it . having it towed to dealer to get problem looked at and all expense is on me. what do i do . i think chrsyler will not repay me. i have to borrow money to get this done becasue this is my only transportation. i am scared that i might have a electrical fire while driving and will not notice it until it too late. what do i do. please help in richmond va.

 On september 6, 2009, my wife and i were headed east on highway 19 outside cherokee, nc. a dui driver crossed the center line and hit our 2009 dodge journey headon and caused us to roll over and come to rest upright. our front air bags deployed. our side seat and ceiling curtain air bags did not deploy in the roll over. i was traveling at approx 45 mph. accident investigated and photos taken by cherokee indian police dept. my wife and i were medevac by helicopter to ashville, nc. my vehicle a total loss by insurance company. have photos of interior showing air bags did not deploy in roll over. *tr
