Consequence SummaryIf the fuse for this circuit does not blow, the connector could overheat and potentially catch fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will re-route and stow the 115 volt auxiliary power outlet connector and pull the 25 amp fuse to remove power from this unused circuit free of charge. the recall began on march 30, 2009. owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

Consequence SummaryIn the event of a crash, the side airbag may not deploy, reducing the protection intended for the occupant and increasing the risk of injuries.

 I purchased this car in august 2010 (it is a 2009) and since then, i have had the vehicle in the shop 33 times. i have had to replace all brakes and rotors, had front passenger-side window motor replaced, driver-side is going out now, had leaking from the ceiling, replacing the cracked radiator right now, had the emergency brake fixed, needed new rods and bushings, fuel injectors run loud, there is a drone noise from the right side of the vehicle when going 1800-2000 rpm, electrical systems short out, had the electric throttle indicator light come on, car dies all the time, yet the battery is fine, ...bottom line, this is a lemon. i have the r/t model which the dealership likes to claim is just the noisy one. that is a very poor answer towards a consumer. i take very good care of my vehicles and to put up with this is upsetting. i have spent over $3000 in repairs in the 2 1/2 years that i have owned this suv. chrysler has made no attempts to help with these common problems and i know that i will not support this company buy purchasing with them again. when i bought a journey...i didn't realize being able to drive it without problems, would be such a journey. *tr

 I went out to start the car to go to work and the engine would not turn over when i attempted to start it. i tried for several minutes to start the car and it would not start, there would just be a clicking sound. i even tried to jump start it and that didn't work. so after reading posts online from other owners i had my wife buy a battery and then after some trying it did. start. i have since this first incident experienced this issue making it a total of three times within three weeks. i would go out to start the car and it would just click without starting. i also found this on another site from someone who had the same issue but instead of me the consumer spending my own money to see if this is the problem, dodge should be doing a recall on this vehicle. (we had an issue with our journey not starting. all of the dash lights would come on but it wouldn't turn over. the dealership started by re-programming the key fob and then replaced the starter. both had no affect on the problem and the car continued to not turn over at the most inconvenient time. the day before leaving on vacation, it happened again. the dealership provided us with a rental and they kept the car to try and figure out the problem. i had provided them with a list of complaints listed here which helped them to narrow down the issue. it turns out that it was the sensor that tells the car that it's in park that wasn't working. although the car is in park, the sensor wasn't sending the right message and was preventing it from starting. it took a month before we got the car back but we've been running it now for nearly two months and not one instance has occurred. if you are experiencing this issue, have the dealership replace this sensor. it worked for me). *tr

 Electrical system failure due to wiring harness melting, radiator cracked because bracket for ac is connected too tight when car is manufactured, battery died prematurely because of failed wires, rotors warped causing car to shake violently when braking. all these problems and others for a car with only 60,000 miles. have spent over $2000 to date in repairs that numerous people have had related to this vehicle. based on online complaints and talking to mechanics who have worked on this car no one can believe that the correct electrical recall has taken place. there have been electrical recalls on vehicle, but not for most common failure. no one understands why brake issue has not been recalled and no one understands why the radiators keep failing without a recall. will it take a serious crash? safety of the consumer is at risk. you pay $20,000 for a car and think it will last awhile. this car has major problems that are consistent from buyer to buyer.

 When i bought my car in 2009. i noticed that my brakes squeaked when i stop i took it back to the dealership, i was told that nothing was wrong. keep complaining all the time, then the vibration started and i needed rotors and brakes. the aftermarket brakes doesn't fit had to replace them with the dealership brakes. had to replace a two tire sensors. had to have my rotors resurfaced will need new rotors. recently the engine coolant overheating light came on. the fan stop working its electrical the mechanic can't figure out why it stop. my car sometimes doesn't start, took it to a mechanic. no reason why. when my air is on it takes the car longer to gain speed on the highway. i contacted the dealership where i purchased it and dodge. both were rude and didn't offer any help. i purchased the extended warranty and it didn't cover anything. *tr

 Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge journey sxt. the contact stated that without warning, the vehicle would not start. the exterior and interior lights work without any difficulties. the contact have to wait 30 minutes before the vehicle would start and over time it lost power and began to make a knocking sound. the brake pads and the rotors also began to wear excessively. the dealer was notified and stated that the vehicle needed a starter, brakes, brakes pads, rotors, battery, and struts. the dealers estimated repair cost was $2,000 at the contacts expense. the contact replaced the brakes, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and the front rotors for $738.23. the manufacture was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

 Since replacing the win in oct. 2010, fob unlock button sets off alarm instead. in the past six months the car has randomly stalled immediately upon starting. in these same six months, the car has stalled randomlly while driving-- various speeds and road conditions. it is scary to drive a car that loses all power for no apparent reason! win module was replaced 6/21/2012-- second replacement in 1-1/2 years. i wonder if ts is a problem with the overall car wiring or the win modules.

 We bought this car used in 2011. we had an inspection done of the brakes by the dealership we bought from and were informed the brakes were in good shape. we have taken the vehicle to the local dodge dealership for regular preventive maintenance and they have told us the brakes are in good shape also. the last visit they told us the front brakes were completely gone. this after just 4000 miles. the electrical system is also failing. the vehicle at times just won't start or other times will shut done. we feel this vehicle is an accident waiting to happen and feel we have a lemon with no course of action and still 5years of payments.

 Purchased date 7/3/2008- 4/3/2009- 3,424mi. wiper blades had to be replaced. 4/8/2009- 3452mi.- replaced power invertor connectors because of recall. 6/22/2010-8,661mi.- hood arm came off, hood liner torn. had to be replaced. 6/10/2011-13,082mi. replaced both front door wiring harness because of recall. 5/18/2011-12,636mi.- small oil leak noticed by tech., was not oil leak so did not persue further. 12/30/2011-15,258mi.- went in for oil change and tech. noticrd water leakage under car, said i had left ice in cooler compartment in back of drivers seat and it had melted and overflowed into carpet. i dried it up and on 1/16/2012 -15,382mi.- after alot of rain returned car to dealer , carpet and foam under drivers seat was water soaked again. front and rear door gaskets on drivers side was replaced. carpet was not dried so i had to return it on 1/24/12 to be dried. on 2/10/2012-15, 532mi.- water leaking inside again from rain. tech foundbody seam incoplete and pinch weld drain blocked. repaired and water tested, said no further leaks detected. carpet was not fully dried so i air dried. on 3/16/2011 -15,835mi.- returned car after raining . water in car again. now it is 3/26/2012 and nothing has been done except water testing. working with dodge corp. and dealer has been very frustrating. meanwhile i am without a vechicle and still payin for it. if there ever was a car called a lemon dodge journey 2009 is king of the lemons.

 Nhtsa it all started when i bought my journey: nice looking but very, very bad experience 1.transmission, it change speed by itself. it change speed from 80 mph to 40, then 70 mph to 30 mph.. i was driving in the expressway and this change of speed happen to me several times. i took it to the dealer and they said that they could not found the problem, after so many incidents i got mad to the dealer and told them that my life is at risk because the car change speed by itself that they have to do something about it. they finally fix the car. 2.brakes, i have problems with the brakes too. they run fast and have to keep changing them. 3.battery, i have problems with the battery too. i have told them numerous times too check the battery, because the car does not want to start and they keep telling me that there is nothing wrong with the battery. so my question to them is the following if the battery is good., what is the problem? i have to turn on the switch several times until the car start. they said that they cannot find the problem. and now the latest problem!!!!!!!! 4.sterring, every time i turn the wheels the car make a wear sound like an old car 5.car does not turn off. now my car does not want to turn off the dealer said that i bought the car and that now the car is mine and i have to take care of it. yeah right!!! so my question is the following what is nhtsa going to do about it while chrysler ignore their customers complaints and not taking responsibility. in the mean time we the consumers have to pay for chrysler poor performance, etc. dodge journey should be remove from the market. and we as consumers should be reimburse or at least chrysler should recall all cars.

 2009 dodge journey sxt. in the year i have owned it, i have replaced brakes twice, as rite now i am replacing them cause they started squeaking a week ago and today they locked up. also replacing one of the calipers. any time i take a hard left turn, there is a loud grinding noise. i have replaced the tires already, and have had to replace the rear 2 again recently. any time i go to brake when going over 40 mph, the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably. i have also recieved a recall from a local dealership for a wiring harness in drivers side. when i went in to dealership, they put it on order and said they would call when it came in, but never did. that was 6 months ago.

 Purchased a 2009 dodge journey with 53000 miles on it. the car will not start intermittenly and had it towed back to the dealer. dealer cleared the fault codes out and car started 100 times says the service rep. then, had to take son to hostipal and car would not start. had it towed at my expense and cab to the er at my cost. dealer has no clue what is wrong. so imagine buying a certified used car and being in this situation. car is still at dealership, been there for 3 days and they have no clue. they are going to start replacing things service bulletins state that ignition switches can go bad and should be replaced in these models. problem is, it is intermittnet.

 Purchased a 2009 dodge journey with 53000 miles on it. the car will not start intermittenly and had it towed back to the dealer. dealer cleared the fault codes out and car started 100 times says the service rep. then, had to take son to hostipal and car would not start. had it towed at my expense and cab to the er at my cost. dealer has no clue what is wrong. so imagine buying a certified used car and being in this situation. car is still at dealership, been there for 3 days and they have no clue. they are going to start replacing things service bulletins state that ignition switches can go bad and should be replaced in these models. problem is, it is intermittnet.

 I purchased a 2009 dodge journey in august of 2008. i have had repeated problems with rotor and brake wear. the rotors have been replaced twice and all 4 brakes have been replaced twice with the front being replaced 3 times. tje first of which occured just past 12,000 miles. this is when brake and rotor wear warranty ends. i have also had signifigant problems with the wiring senser module, resulting in stability control and anti-lock brake light to come one. i also have power ports in the vehicle that do not work as well as a lift gate that does not lock. i currently have 48,000 miles on the vehicle and now have issues with leaking. i am unsure how water is entering the vehicle, possibly thru the air conditioning drainage system. the entire drivers side floor boards are wet as well as the built in cooler behind the drivers seat being completely filled with water within several days of emptying. this occurs when it is not raining or wet outside. i now have mold issues in the vehicle. myself and my children have signifigant allergies and asthma. this vehicle is unsafe to drive. the electrical problems resulting in air bag failure are definatly scary.

 Purchase a dodge journey 2009. i inform the dealer that the windows were not coming down as they should. didn't get fixed. the keyless remote was suppose to be with the car it wasn't, they installed a after market keyless remote, don't work correct. the brakes were sweaking and could hear air within the car when applying brakes. i was told that theres nothing wrong and it was normal. it has been 4 to 5 months later now its not starting . contact chrsyler llc , told me i had to have it towed to a dealer , get diagnoise , get it fixed and i have to pay for it all and they will remiburse half for the part , labor is all on me. the vehicle has done this no start problem 3 times in 2 and half days. also notice that the steering column gets hot for some unforseen reason . inform the dealer i purchase my journey from , i was told that is normal. still have the journey can't trade in back because i have no money , so i am stuck with it . having it towed to dealer to get problem looked at and all expense is on me. what do i do . i think chrsyler will not repay me. i have to borrow money to get this done becasue this is my only transportation. i am scared that i might have a electrical fire while driving and will not notice it until it too late. what do i do. please help in richmond va.

 At 2000 miles on my 2009 dodge journey i started having problems with my front passanger window sticking, and brakes squeeking. also car not shifting when taking off and when you slow down and try to speed back up. i took it in. they told me maybe sap in window and brakes fine. three days later window acting up again. took it in. same reason. cleaned and greased. this is the eight time ive taken it in. they have replaced motors, switches, tracks, seals and now wont roll up or down . the brakes have been an issue since the start. at 21000 miles the dealer tells me i need new pad and rotors. take it to brake shop and they tell me all i need is pad. brakes working fine right now but still squeek every now and then. they have replaced electrical harnesses that may catch on fire. the squeeking noice now has turned into other parts that are having to be replaced. my computer chip has been reset 4 times and cheep plastic mirrors on visers and sunglass holder and light on inside roof. the springs on my back doors have popped out leaving the door stuck open. went to to eat with 23000 miles on the car and after leaving the car would not start. called dealer and they called a tow truck and wanted me to pay for that also. my car has been in two different dealerships on 10-15 different occasions for repairs. they still have not got these issues fixed. what can i do?

 As i was driving my 2009 dogde journey on the highway going 70 mph it stuttered and hesitated to pick up speed. i proceeded to get on an off ramp i could not pick up speed to avoid being hit by other cars catching up to me!! luckily i made it to my destination safely!! the check engine light comes on shortly afterwards1 i took it to the dealer to find out what the problem is, they haven't properly diagnosed it right yet!! the car still dies on me while driving!!! by the way i had the car for 6 months and 50,000 miles!!! dodge really needs to fix this problem with thier creation of death!!! hopefully they will before someone dies in a car crash because their car went from 70 mph to 0 in 60 seconds!!! i took it to a repair shop and a dodge dealership the repair shop says it needs a whole new computer the dealer say it's a bad solenoid!!! i don;t know what it is and i should have to pay for dodge bad build of this vehicle with money or my life!!!

 Front brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced at 12k miles on our 2009 dodge journey. now we just had all brake lights go out. we took it to our mechanic and they found only 1 bulb bad. after the 1 bulb was replaced, all lights started working again. why would they put these bulbs in series rather than parallel so that only the bad bulb would be out rather than all? that is a big asafety problem in my opinion. also one tire now has a bulge in the sidewall and needs replaced. the vehicle has about 15k miles.

 Brakes do not last. had to replace rear and front brakes and rotors at 40,000 miles, only 500 after we purchased vehicle. when braking at a high rate of speed the entire car shakes and steering column vibrates violently. we have not found a solution, the dealership says they cannot duplicate the problem the car will randomly not crank. it has left me stranded twice. after sitting for an hour it will crank with no problem. we have been told that is may be a problem with the internal security device that recognizes the key.

 On monday, march 8, 2010, my wife, two year old daughter and i suffered a third episode of the following dangerous malfunctions: steering, transmission and drivetrain issues that, without notice, result in an unbearable screeching and grinding noise emanating from underneath the vehicle at speeds between 15 and 30 mph, a pause and hesitation in acceleration between speeds of 15 and 30 m.p.h. that causes the car to jump forward, the immediate loss of accurate steering and a burning smell throughout the car interior we suffered the most recent episode, without notice, while driving through rush hour traffic at 7:45 a.m. we waited two hours for a tow truck to arrive. fortunately, my wife and daughter were only shaken, but not injured. in the last three months, we have had an unsafe rear tire replaced, sunroof parts replaced for constant leaking, a new electronic module installed to prevent the episodes of the entire electronic system malfunctioning causing the loss of car function and door locks and multiple power steering parts replaced.

 Bought a 2009 dodge journey sxt w/14,075 miles-used. owned little over month-we have had 4 times where driving at night-suddenly all instrument panel lights comes on-headlights go off-engine keeps running. to 'reset' had to turn off car and restart-one night this happen 2 times in appr.10 miles on i-20. first time in shop-'could not duplicate for 2 days-also no bus light comes on. wife picked up drove 15 miles to groc. parking lot-during drive battery light came on-she got to parking lot. killed engine-tried to restart-nothing-no click-nada! called 800 # inowners manual. towed to nearest dodge-they towed back to original dealer-3 more days-supposedly changed out several elect.parts. still it happened again-at night-back in shop. we finally did a carfax-seems previous owner had in shop for electrical 3-4 times in less than a year when bought brand new. did some research on dodge journey problems search on web-not much on journeys problem but did find '99 durango seem to describe exactly same problems-are they related? *tr

 I have a brand new 2009 dodge journey. the steering makes noise, interior lights don't work, hazard lights don't work, locks malfunction, alarm malfunctions and won't turn off...i brought it in to have the steering issue looked at and was told they need to keep it for at least a day to fix it. they refuse, however to give me a rental until they find a diagnosis, which they now tell me will take at least 2 days. so, i'm driving around with a car that has one thing after another breaking on it because i can't afford to go 2 days without a car. i have to work. they don't stand by their product and it's going to cause problems for many consumers. *tr
