| As i was driving home from work and turning into my neighborhood i noticed smoke coming from the back of my car as i looked in the rearview mirror. there were no warning lights on other than my gas light which had just come on about a mile before. i pulled into my parking space and the car immediately began smoking from the underneath the hood, enough to alert all of the neighbors who came out thinking a house was on fire. i saw flames coming from the hood on the passenger side as i was exiting the car. about a minute after i got out of the car, there was a loud explosion from underneath the hood, and the car started to kick out more smoke than before. my neighbor came over to open the hood after a few minutes. there were no more flames, but the heat shield metal had melted from the heat, as did parts of my engine, the engine cover, hoses, and metal connections. (unsure of the true mechanical lingo). the incident was reported to my insurance company as a loss. | |||

| Purchased vehicle in 2010, test drove vehicle asked dealer to check the following components engine, brakes, transmission. dealer took car to a repair place stated everything was fine, went on with purchase. had a oil change not long after purchase facility mentioned front and rear brakes, rotors and calipers were bad..which i had noticed pedal to brakes were not engaging properly, severe safety issue. took to a second brake repair same problem.(s) on occasion engine stalls while driving, sometimes will not start at all. some electrical components do not work in the vehicle. then driving vehicle home from store transmission dies, car will not go over 20 miles, almost hit from behind by another vehicle due to sudden loss of speed luckily about two minutes from home. parked vehicle for a few hours car would not go in park or reverse. took vehicle to transmission repair, transmission tech examines transmission, transmission is defective and needs to be replaced. called manufacturer dodge/chrysler stated there was nothing that they were willing to do, same statement they have said to many consumers, without concern for buyers safety or inconvenience that their vehicles cause. please i need help this is the only vehicle that my family has, and i am concerned about all of our safety. *tr | |||

| May 13th, vehicle would not start, lights come on, radio, but nothing from engine. had aaa jump truck and installed new battery at sears. may 14th vehicle would not start again! lights come on, radio, but engine will not start. took to repair place, they replace spark plugs, cleaned throttle. may 22nd back to repair shop, vehicle will not start, same exact issues. replaced fuel pump. they called dealership and they said no warranty and they had no idea what the issue was with truck. may 29th vehicle having same issues, daily it takes 15 to 30 minutes for it to start. take back to repair shop and they replaced the fuel pump again. still daily the truck starts when it wants to. same issue when you engage the key, lights and radio work, power is there, but engine will not start. now driver window will not work. informed that we need brakes and rotors for front of truck in may and no warning light, just severe shaking when you are braking. scared to drive the vehicle for fear of being stranded or failure of braking system. *js | |||

| May 13th, vehicle would not start, lights come on, radio, but nothing from engine. had aaa jump truck and installed new battery at sears. may 14th vehicle would not start again! lights come on, radio, but engine will not start. took to repair place, they replace spark plugs, cleaned throttle. may 22nd back to repair shop, vehicle will not start, same exact issues. replaced fuel pump. they called dealership and they said no warranty and they had no idea what the issue was with truck. may 29th vehicle having same issues, daily it takes 15 to 30 minutes for it to start. take back to repair shop and they replaced the fuel pump again. still daily the truck starts when it wants to. same issue when you engage the key, lights and radio work, power is there, but engine will not start. now driver window will not work. informed that we need brakes and rotors for front of truck in may and no warning light, just severe shaking when you are braking. scared to drive the vehicle for fear of being stranded or failure of braking system. | |||

| I purchased this car in august 2010 (it is a 2009) and since then, i have had the vehicle in the shop 33 times. i have had to replace all brakes and rotors, had front passenger-side window motor replaced, driver-side is going out now, had leaking from the ceiling, replacing the cracked radiator right now, had the emergency brake fixed, needed new rods and bushings, fuel injectors run loud, there is a drone noise from the right side of the vehicle when going 1800-2000 rpm, electrical systems short out, had the electric throttle indicator light come on, car dies all the time, yet the battery is fine, ...bottom line, this is a lemon. i have the r/t model which the dealership likes to claim is just the noisy one. that is a very poor answer towards a consumer. i take very good care of my vehicles and to put up with this is upsetting. i have spent over $3000 in repairs in the 2 1/2 years that i have owned this suv. chrysler has made no attempts to help with these common problems and i know that i will not support this company buy purchasing with them again. when i bought a journey...i didn't realize being able to drive it without problems, would be such a journey. *tr | |||
