After refueling vehicle to a full tank of gas, the vehicle will stall when driving. in some cases multiple times. there is no warning prior to the stall and the timing of the incident seems random - sometimes right away after fill-up, sometimes a few miles down the road. only occurs at full tank condition but does occur every time the tank is filled. when the vehicle stalls it is difficult to start back up - power steering and power brakes are lost during this time. once the vehicle has traveled 10-15 miles the problem seems to go away - until filling the gas tank again. it seems like an emissions systems type of problem - maybe part of the fuel tank venting system. there are other reports of this problem with similar type of vehicles (chrysler 300, dodge charger) on the internet.

I had just filled the tank of my 2006 dodge magnum and drove about 20 miles into town. after making a quick stop at a local store i once again got into the car and began driving approx. 30 mph. as i began to make a left hand turn all power was lost to the car; steering became nearly impossible, gas pedal did not work and i basically was dead in the road. i turned the key to off, placed the car in park and then restarted the engine. it started right up, began to drive and at the next light needed to take another left; with cars coming at me from the other direction i went to take the left when once again the entire car lost power..no steering, no gas power, check oil light came on. i was lucky that the oncoming cars did not hit me and that i had allowed enough space incase the same thing occurred or there would have been a collision for sure. this has happened a few other times without any reason but we are always able to start it back up and then it may or may not happen again. been told it is the roll over valve failing $2 grand to fix!!!!! *tr

The parking interlock pawl on nearly all of the dodge magnums and chargers, chrysler 300 indicates a very significant failure rate. this piece functions to prevent shifting the vehicle from park unless the key is in the ignition and the brake is depressed. dodge has changed the design and material due to quality and reliability problems from the previously used part which was made out of a very inexpensive plastic. as a preventive measure against failure, many owners have chosen to remove the pawl to prevent being stranded. in removing the pawl, the shifter interlock mechanism becomes ineffective allowing the vehicle to be shifted from park without the key inserted in the ignition and the brake pedal depressed. while the malfunction at hand is not a safety issue directly related to part failure, the resulting outcome from the removal of this part causes a safety issue of great concern. to date dodge has not issued a recall on this part. i ask that nhtsa consider the high probability of accidents, injuries and deaths resulting from this defect of this part and/or its removal and recommend the issuance of a recall for replacement of this part. *tr

This car went in for a cooling fan recall in late july. at the same time, the 60,000 mile transmission service was completed. i began having trouble with how it shifted almost immediately on an irregular basis. we left on vacation a week later and just returned sept. 8th. i noticed the transmission was worse, so i called the garage to take it in. i was just told that the torque converter is bad, probably because of a water leak in the dipstick. the service guy told me that chrysler has had this same problem on many cars. my suspicion: why did it go out immediately after being serviced at ross chrysler in boone, nc. if there are multiple water leaks, chrysler should be sharing with the cost ($1600) to replace the converter. am i being taken advantage of because i am a senior citizen. add water to the transmission while being worked on, and it ruins the converter.

The vehicle surges between 1500-3500 rpm's and sometimes at idle. the problem comes and goes and is often accompanied by problems with the transmission shifting. somethimes at a stop the trans will not down shift and when i accelerate again it is stuck in a high gear which has many times caused me to be put in danger while pulling into traffic, the car won't accelerate to speed properly. it is unerving to never know if it will drive properly without shifting or surging problems. it has been doing this for 15,000 miles and i have taken it inot the dealer 6-7 times and they still having fixed anything, because there is no code coming up for them.

Please put your self in our shoe`s this has got to be dealt with or someone is going to get killed in a crash. please dont d let dodge skate on this one can we not get a class action lawsuit going? i hope i don`t crash and kill somebody`s child or loved one. 1. dangerous! entire car shakes when traveling at 40-80+ mph. the shake shows up in the steering wheel which makes the car unsafe to handle at speeds of 65mph. this shake is not present when braking, only under acceleration and usually only when you go over 40mph. the problem has gotten so bad that it actually hurts my ears do to the pulsing and pounding air preasure when only one window, any window is open. it is deafening!!. the wheels were balanced on 4 separate occasions and that didn't nothing but waist my time and money. 2. car nearly stalls out when shifting between first and second gear on wide open throttle. (can be dangerous if you expect the car to go and it stutters. almost appears as if it is going to stall, like it's starved for gas). and if all that is not enough, the rack and pinion need replacing, after only 53 thousand miles!!!??? it should last at least 150,000 miles i only drive about 10,000 miles a year! and on very smooth roads. now i am out of money and attempting to make ends meet on $995 dallors a month. don`t i / we have government backed consumer rights when these problems are so obveous and blatantly being ignored. dodge should by now, know what these problems are, and if not, they should feel abligated to at least find the cause of them. after all i purchased a dodge to help support an amarican icon just to find out that they actualy treat us worse than toyota treats there customers. i mean at least they are fixing and admitting there mistakes. i just hope myself or anyone else get hurt or killed do to there ignorance befor they finally bend over, grab there ears and pull there heads out of there .........!

We own a 2006 dodge magnum; it will not shift out of park (70,000+ miles). it just happened to my husband. after checking the site, i can see several complaints about the same part; there must be a problem with the car. i also know two separate people with dodge avenger and charger; with the same problem. now the car has be towed to the dealership to replace $100 part for $400.

I own a 2006 dodge magnum str8, that will not some out of park, with 66,000 miles on it. i have read over many many reports of this exact issue with dodge magnums and chargers and now it has happened to me. why is there still not a recall on this issue? i am shocked that the nhtsa has not received far more complaints regarding this issue.

We own a 2006 dodge magnum, and the car shifter is stuck on park. the car also seems to vibrate while going over 50 mph. don't think the thump noise is normal when there is a shift in gear in an automatic transmission.

The transmission on the dodge magnum has many issues. the check engine light come on and off signaling that your transmission is not shifting properly. a person can feel a thump and the car will momentarily stall. have taken to the dealership continuously for repair. the check engine light will still come on and off randomly. the dealership say they can not repeat the incident. a blog on edmunds.com on dodge magnum transmission problems has several entries complaining about the same incident and dealerships saying the same issues but no real answers. my problems occurred about with 40k on the odometer. others reported earlier incidents. *tr

We own a 2006 dodge magnum. the vehicle has been maintained with the appropriate maintenance by the dodge service center. on 07-02-09 the vehicle was driving from home at 10:00am, at 10:30 once trying to depart the shopping center location the vehicles gear shifter would not remove from the parked position, and had to be towed. it was discovered that all the 2006-2007 dodge magnums, chargers, and chrysler 300's gear shifters have been getting stuck in park. the reason giving is that there's a defective plastic wheel that breaks. this shouldn't be taking place, it's not known whether other's have broken in another gear while driving or not, and could be detrimental if it does especially while the vehicle is in motion and causes the driver to have an accident and instantly go in a direction or just stall in traffic. this needs to be addressed and placed on the recall list, just as the cable shifter has been recalled on the dodge magnums. please look into this matter with reimbursement to all that have had this problem repaired. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle jerked and failed to switch gears. the dealer repaired the transmission, but it did not remedy the failure. the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that the vehicle needed to be driven 100 miles. after the vehicle had been driven for 1,000 miles, the failure still persisted. the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they advised her to change the tires. the current mileage was 65,000 and failure mileage was 20,000.

Since the purchase of this vehicle in may 2007, it has repeatedly suffered from transmission shutter; a loud thumping shake of the car when shifting between 2nd and 3rd gears (automatic transmission) at medium-low speeds. i have taken to the dealer repeatedly but they are unable to confirm the problem. *tr

I purchased a 2006 magnum from lithia of fairfield in may of this year, 2006. the vehicle was running fine for the first five months (may-oct) with the only distraction being one of the rear windows operated fine from both power switches for 90% of the time. i took it in during routine warranty service and explained to one of the service managers but because the power window switches were operable that day i was told there was nothing they could do (that didn't sit to well with me, but i shrugged it off and said ok). in october, a few other incidents happened like the blue tooth quit communicating with the system. i figured to wait until my next routine service maintenance to have it looked at in a few weeks. around the same time frame i noticed the vehicle did not shift smoothly into reverse and that while sustaining a steady highway cruising speed the vehicle would feel like it wasn't firing on all cylinders if i gradually increased the rpms. i made note and asked to have this investigate at the same time i was taking the vehicle in for the scheduled maintenance. unfortunately (or fortunate, depending on point of view of surviving a highway accident), the transmission failed while on the way to work driving on a very, very busy and dangerous stretch of road where the average speed is about 75 mph. the fortunate part of this being i was able to limp along for about one half mile on newly completed shoulder of the road to an exit. i literally shudder, which sends chills down my spine, to think what if my wife had been driving the vehicle?. *nm
