Defect SummaryCertain passenger vehicles equipped with 2.7 liter engines and mk25e braking systems may exhibit inadequate clearance between the rear brake tubes and the exhaust gas recirculation tube. contact between the brake tubes and exhaust gas recirculation tube over an extended period of time may cause the brake tubes to wear through and cause a brake fluid leak.
Consequence SummaryThis can result in a decrease of braking force and the potential for an engine compartment fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the rear brake tubes for damage and replace them free of charge. a clip will also be installed to secure the brake tubes to the right front shock tower to maintain proper clearance to the exhaust gas recirculation tube. the recall began on june 26, 2006. owners may contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
NotesDaimlerchrysler recall no. f18. customers may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration

I was driving when the vehicle failed to accelerate over 55 mph (sometimes it would not go over 35 mph). the failure resolved temporarily when the vehicle was restarted. when this does occur the electronic throttle position and traction control light both come on and the car revs up loudly until it is shut off. it is dangerous when you are going 65-70 mph on the highway and the car drops down to 35 mph. now that the weather is colder it happens more often including as soon as you start the car. there also is a lot of shaking while on the highway or while braking. i took the car to a dodge dealer and they said the suspension is extremely loose, which again is dangerous because the wheel could just fall off. i also have the problem that i cannot get the gear out of park at any point. i did find the recall and called chrysler, but they say my vin is not part of the recall (why not? it is the same problem). they notated it, but have not done anything to help me. i have to keep my car in neutral and put the emergency brake on anytime i park. there have been several occasions i cannot park in spots because even with the brake on the car still rolls. i have read several other complaints on here and see these are all common problems and may all have recalls and i feel my car should be included in those. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. the contact stated the rotors began to shake while the vehicle was driving 60 mph. the vehicle began to shake and became very difficult to drive when the brakes were applied. the contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic to have the rotors change twice in the last two years. the contact has called the manufacturer regarding the failure. the contact stated the faulty rotors could potentially cause a crash to occur. the failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum 3.5 engine. the contact heard a loud squeaking noise coming from the brake system and when attempting to declerate the vehicle would make a loud grinding noise and shake excessively similar to nhtsa campaign id number: 06v149000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the brake system does not help idle the vehicle. a private mechanic replaced the front and rear brake pads and he noticed that there was a brake hose leak and performed the repairs; however, the failure continues to occur. the current mileages were 97,000 and the failure mileages were 80,000.

 1. dangerous! entire car shakes when traveling at 40-80+ mph. the shake shows up in the steering wheel which makes the car unsafe to handle at speeds of 65mph. it is similar to the shake when you brake and the rotors are warped only this shake is not present when braking, only under acceleration and usually only when you go over 40mph. it gets so bad that people in the car always ask what is wrong with my car, especially since i have only had it 11 months. the problem is getting progressively worse. the tie rods were replaced as an attempt to fix the problem. didn't work. the wheels were balanced on 3 separate occasions and that didn't work either. the rims from another srt8 magnum were put on my car to see if the rims were the problem and the car still shook. (4 repair attempts, not yet fixed) 2. brake rotors (all 4) worn out at 17,000 miles (dealer will replace for free after a fight with the dealership) 3. brake pads (all 4) worn out at 17,000 miles (dealer will not replace for free, want $600 for pads, not fair since the defective rotors might have played a part in wearing out my brake pads too) 4. car nearly stalls out when shifting between first and second gear on wide open throttle. (can be dangerous if you expect the car to go and it stutters. almost appears as if it is going to stall, like it's starved for gas). *tr
